AVG Internet Security is a paid consumer security subscription that you buy directly from AVG and manage through an AVG Account. This guide shows how to set up a Coinepay virtual card, complete the AVG checkout, and what to do if a payment is declined. It is an independent how-to; Coinepay is not affiliated with AVG.

What you need before you start

  • A verified Coinepay account. Register at the Coinepay sign-up page and complete identity verification (KYC) before you can create a card.
  • A Coinepay virtual card with its card number, expiry date and CVV, which you can view in the Coinepay dashboard or the mobile app (iOS / Google Play).
  • Enough balance on the card to cover the first-year charge plus any applicable tax shown at AVG checkout.
  • Your real billing details — name, address and country — exactly as held on your Coinepay profile. AVG requires genuine billing information.
  • An email address you control; this becomes your AVG Account login.

Note that AVG states all of its products and services became unavailable in Russia and Belarus on 29 January 2024, and sales there are suspended. Availability and accepted payment methods in other countries can vary, so a country store page alone does not guarantee a particular card will work there.

Choosing the right AVG product

On AVG's consumer store you will see three distinct products, not three tiers of one plan:

  • AVG AntiVirus FREE — the free product.
  • AVG Internet Security — the paid subscription this guide covers; AVG's support pages also call the version usable on up to 10 devices AVG Internet Security (Multi-Device).
  • AVG Ultimate — a bundle that includes Internet Security plus Secure VPN, TuneUp and AntiTrack.

There is also a separate AVG Internet Security Business Edition for organizations. If you only want Internet Security, make sure you select that product and not the bundle or the business edition.

On pricing: at the time of writing (October 2026), store listings advertised first-year prices such as US$59.88, £49.99, CAN$59.99, A$79.99 and €59.99, with higher renewal prices after the first year. These were indexed listings, not verified checkout totals, and some URLs carried affiliate parameters. Treat them as rough guidance only and confirm the live price for your region on AVG's official store page before you pay.

Step-by-step: subscribe and pay

  1. Create your Coinepay card. In the Coinepay app or dashboard, issue a virtual card and top it up so the balance comfortably covers the first-year total plus tax. Keep the card number, expiry and CVV handy.
  2. Open AVG's official store. Go to AVG's own website and find the AVG Internet Security listing for your country. If you want to try first, AVG advertises a 30-day PC trial that does not require a credit card.
  3. Select Buy now. Choose the device count you need and start the purchase.
  4. Sign in or create your AVG Account. Use the email address you want tied to the subscription. A direct website purchase is linked to that AVG Account, and the confirmation email contains an activation code you may need after installation.
  5. Choose card as the payment method. AVG documents credit/debit cards and PayPal, and lists wire transfer as an alternative for some standalone purchases; its help pages mention Visa, Mastercard and American Express as example card brands. Whether a specific brand, or prepaid and virtual cards, is accepted at your regional checkout is not something AVG confirms publicly, so proceed and let the checkout validate the card.
  6. Enter your card and billing details. Type the Coinepay card number, expiry and CVV. Enter the billing name and address that match your Coinepay profile exactly.
  7. Complete any 3-D Secure step. If prompted to confirm the payment, approve it through the method tied to your Coinepay account (for example an app confirmation).
  8. Confirm and save your records. After the charge succeeds, AVG emails a confirmation with your activation code. You can later find invoices under AVG Account → See your order history (purchases made via Google Play or Apple's App Store do not appear there).

If your card is declined

AVG's billing help notes that a standalone payment can fail without giving an exhaustive list of decline reasons; it generally advises trying another card or payment method. Community posts (which are user reports, not confirmed system faults) describe cases where a virtual-card payment was first accepted then refused, an "Update Payment Method" control that did not work, and a "glitch" while updating payment details. A separate Windows release note dated 15 October 2026 (version 26.10) mentions fixes for subscription, renewal, refund, purchase-flow and incorrect payment-related messages. With that context, work through the common causes below.

Insufficient balance

The checkout total may include regional tax on top of the advertised price. Check your Coinepay card balance and top up so it covers the full amount, then retry.

Billing address mismatch

If the billing address you typed at AVG does not match the details registered to your Coinepay card, the authorization can fail. Re-enter your address exactly as it appears on your Coinepay profile and keep the country consistent.

3-D Secure not completed

If an extra confirmation step appears and is not approved in time, the payment is dropped. Make sure you can receive and approve the Coinepay confirmation prompt, then start checkout again.

Merchant region checks

AVG's checkout may apply country checks and only offers certain payment methods in certain regions. Use the AVG store page for your actual country of residence with your real billing details — never try to disguise your location. If you suspect the issue is card-related, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card is active and suitable before you buy again.

If AVG repeatedly refuses a payment that your card side shows as attempted, reach out to AVG support about the order, and ask Coinepay support to confirm there was no authorization or hold on your card.

Managing, renewing and canceling

Billing controls live under AVG Account → Manage subscriptions, where you can view the next payment date and payment method, use Update payment card, or select Unsubscribe/Cancel renewal. Card details are updated separately for each subscription, so update every one you want to keep active.

Direct AVG website subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel renewal before the next billing date; canceling stops future charges but leaves access through the period you already paid for. AVG also says billing for 1-, 2- or 3-year subscriptions can occur up to 35 days before the next period, so rely on the displayed next payment date rather than the expiry date. If you want to keep paying with Coinepay, make sure the card linked under Manage subscriptions is valid and funded ahead of that date.

On refunds, AVG's cancellation/refund policy allows a full refund within 30 days of an annual purchase or each annual charge; an initial monthly purchase has a 14-day window, while later monthly charges are not refundable under that policy. Paid trials have their own first-charge windows (30 days after a first annual charge, 14 days after a first monthly charge), and third-party sellers or app stores may apply different terms. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method — your Coinepay card — so keep that card open until any refund window closes.

FAQ

Can I use a Coinepay virtual card to pay for AVG Internet Security?

You can enter your Coinepay virtual card number, expiry and CVV at AVG's checkout like any card. AVG lists credit/debit cards among its payment methods but does not publicly confirm acceptance of every card type at every regional checkout, so complete checkout and let AVG validate the card. If it is declined, check your balance, billing address and any confirmation step, and contact Coinepay support to confirm the card is active.

Which AVG product should I choose at checkout?

Select AVG Internet Security (also called Internet Security Multi-Device for up to 10 devices). It is separate from the free AVG AntiVirus, from the AVG Ultimate bundle, and from AVG Internet Security Business Edition, so make sure you pick the correct product before paying.

How much does AVG Internet Security cost?

At the time of writing (October 2026), advertised first-year prices included figures like US$59.88, £49.99 and €59.99, with higher renewal prices later. These were indexed listings, not confirmed checkout totals, and prices vary by region and tax. Always check the live price on AVG's official store page for your country before you buy.

Why was my AVG payment declined even though my card seemed fine?

Common causes are insufficient balance once tax is added, a billing address that does not match your card profile, an unfinished 3-D Secure confirmation, or AVG's regional checks. Retry after fixing these; AVG also suggests trying another payment method. If AVG refuses a charge your card shows as attempted, contact both AVG and Coinepay support.

How do I stop AVG from renewing on my Coinepay card?

Go to AVG Account → Manage subscriptions and select Unsubscribe/Cancel renewal before the next payment date. Renewal can be billed up to 35 days before the next period, so cancel in advance. Canceling stops future charges but keeps access through the period you already paid for.
