Alipay is a payment app, not a subscription you need to buy before making a purchase. If you want to fund an eligible Alipay payment with a Coinepay virtual card, the task is to link the card in Alipay, select it when available, and confirm the charge. Card linking and individual payments are subject to Alipay’s rules, the card issuer’s verification, and the merchant’s acceptance.

What you need before you start

  • A Coinepay account and virtual card. Register with your real identity and complete identity verification before using Coinepay card services. Once issued, your virtual card’s number, expiry date and CVV are available in the Coinepay dashboard or app.
  • Access to Alipay. Install the Alipay consumer app and have a mobile number you can use to register and receive verification prompts. Alipay’s published guidance says eligible users can register with a foreign or Chinese mobile number.
  • Accurate personal and billing information. Enter your real name and any genuine billing details requested during card linking or checkout. Check that the details you enter agree with those associated with your card.
  • Enough available funds. Check your Coinepay balance against the total Alipay displays, including any charge shown before you approve payment. Check the applicable card details and spending controls in Coinepay rather than assuming a particular limit.

Alipay guidance lists several card brands that may be linkable, but that list does not establish whether a particular Coinepay card or merchant transaction is eligible. Availability can vary by payment product. If you need to establish whether your card meets a specific Alipay or merchant requirement before paying, contact Coinepay support.

Step 1: Set up your Coinepay card

  1. Register for Coinepay and complete the required identity verification using your own information.
  2. Open the Coinepay self-service dashboard or mobile app and locate your virtual card. You can get the card number, expiry date and CVV after issuance.
  3. Review your available funds and any applicable card controls in Coinepay. Keep the dashboard or app accessible in case the card-linking process asks you to complete an issuer verification step.

You can manage your account through Coinepay’s dashboard or its mobile apps for iOS and Android. Do not share your full card details or verification codes with someone offering to link the card for you.

Step 2: Register for Alipay and link the card

  1. Open the Alipay consumer app and follow its registration prompts using your own mobile number and identity details. Complete any verification Alipay requests.
  2. Find the app’s option to add or link a bank card. Enter the Coinepay virtual card number, expiry date and CVV where requested, along with your real billing details if the app asks for them.
  3. Complete the card issuer’s verification prompt, if one appears. A card is not ready to use merely because its details were entered: Alipay’s guidance says the issuer must verify the link.
  4. Confirm in Alipay that the card has been added before trying a purchase. If Alipay rejects it, read the message shown in your app and use the troubleshooting steps below.

App menus can change by version and region, so follow the labels currently displayed rather than relying on an older settings path. Alipay Global merchant accounts, Antom checkout and the Alipay consumer app are different products; merchant settlement options are not consumer subscription plans.

Step 3: Pay through Alipay

At a participating in-person merchant

  1. Check the amount and any charges presented before confirming.
  2. Follow the merchant’s supported QR flow: either scan the merchant’s collection QR code in Alipay or show your Alipay payment QR code for the merchant to scan.
  3. If Alipay offers a choice of payment methods, select the linked Coinepay card and review the final payment screen. A linked card may not be offered for every transaction.
  4. Complete any verification requested, then check the result in Alipay and your Coinepay transaction activity. Do not repeatedly pay if the first attempt has an unclear status; verify whether it succeeded first.

On a merchant’s mobile checkout

If a merchant offers Alipay at checkout, select it on the merchant’s mobile site. The flow may take you to the Alipay app or an Alipay mobile payment page to review and confirm the payment before returning you to the merchant site. Check both the Alipay result and the merchant’s order status. Selecting Alipay does not necessarily mean that a linked international card can fund that particular order.

Alipay’s international-card service agreement describes qualifying merchants in mainland China and excludes Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan from that definition. Do not assume the same international-card payment flow applies in those locations or at every merchant. Use only services available to you under Alipay’s terms and applicable local rules; a virtual card is not a way to bypass regional eligibility checks.

If your card is declined or will not link

First identify whether the failure happened while linking the card or while paying a merchant. Save the on-screen message, transaction time and amount, but never send a CVV or one-time code in a support message. Consumer-facing wording can differ from technical codes used in merchant payment systems.

  • Insufficient balance: Compare your available Coinepay funds with the full amount Alipay asks you to confirm. Account for any charge displayed at checkout. If you need to add funds, follow the options and terms shown in Coinepay, then retry only after the balance updates.
  • Billing-detail mismatch: Recheck the name, billing address and other details entered in Alipay against your genuine cardholder information. Correct mistakes using your real details; do not try an invented address to make a payment pass.
  • Verification or 3-D Secure did not complete: A linking or payment attempt may require issuer verification or an authentication challenge. Return to the original Alipay flow, look for a pending prompt, and complete it promptly if offered. If the challenge fails, expires or never appears, ask Coinepay support to review the attempt. Do not assume that a technical 3-D Secure error code will appear in the consumer app.
  • Merchant or regional check: A card can link successfully but still be unavailable for a particular purchase. Check whether the merchant supports Alipay and whether its checkout accepts the proposed funding method in your location. If the merchant specifies a card-type or issuing-country restriction, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets that requirement before you buy.
  • Issuer rejection or risk check: Alipay guidance notes that issuer verification, connection recognition or risk assessment can prevent a card transaction. Record the exact message you see and contact support rather than making repeated rapid attempts or changing your identity details.

If a merchant order fails but Coinepay shows an amount deducted, check the transaction status in both services before trying again. Give support the merchant name, date, amount and any reference number you can see, without disclosing your full card credentials.

Charges, refunds and ongoing payments

There is no confirmed consumer subscription tier to select for the Alipay app. Before each purchase, check Alipay’s payment screen and applicable agreement for the amount and any charges; do not apply Alipay Global merchant settlement prices to a consumer payment. If you are paying a separate merchant for a recurring product through Alipay, that merchant’s plan, renewal and cancellation terms control the subscription.

For a completed payment, contact the merchant to request a refund rather than assuming you can reverse it yourself in Alipay. Alipay Global’s refund guidance says successful refunds return through the original payment channel, with bank settlement affecting when funds appear. Keep the merchant’s refund confirmation and check your card activity. If the merchant says it has refunded you but you cannot locate the credit, contact the merchant first for the refund reference, then Coinepay support with the relevant transaction details.

FAQ

Do I need an Alipay subscription to use a Coinepay virtual card?

No Alipay consumer subscription plan was confirmed. Link the card in Alipay and review the amount and any charges shown for each eligible payment.

Can I link my Coinepay virtual card to Alipay?

You can try adding its card details in the Alipay app, but linking requires issuer verification and depends on Alipay’s eligibility checks. Contact Coinepay support if a specific card requirement needs confirming.

Why was my Alipay payment declined after the card linked?

Possible causes include insufficient available funds, mismatched billing details, incomplete verification, or merchant and regional restrictions. Check the message in Alipay and the transaction status in Coinepay before retrying.

How do I get a refund for an Alipay purchase funded by my card?

Ask the merchant for a refund. Successful refunds generally return through the original payment channel; check your card activity and keep the merchant’s refund reference.
