Datadog bills its monitoring products separately, so paying for it starts with choosing the products and usage you need—not selecting one platform-wide subscription. This guide covers direct Datadog sign-up, adding a Coinepay virtual card to a Datadog account, and checking common causes if the card is declined. Card acceptance is subject to Datadog’s checkout and payment checks.

What you need before you start

  • A Datadog account and administrator access. An administrator manages card details under Plan & Usage. If someone else administers your organization’s account, ask them to handle the billing change.
  • A Coinepay virtual card. Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. The card provides a number, expiry date, and CVV, which you can view in the Coinepay app or self-service dashboard.
  • Your real billing details and sufficient available funds. Use details that accurately identify you or your business. Check the available funds in your Coinepay account against the amount Datadog may charge; metered usage can make a later bill different from an initial estimate.
  • A product and billing choice. Infrastructure Monitoring has Free, Pro, and Enterprise tiers; Free covers up to five hosts. Other products, including APM, have their own tiers and billing units. Review Datadog’s official pricing list for the products, region, and billing arrangement relevant to you.

Datadog’s core billing documentation describes direct card billing as a credit-card option but does not establish that every virtual card will be accepted. Before relying on the card for a committed purchase, contact Coinepay support to check whether your card meets any payment requirements Datadog presents. Do not treat payment methods advertised for Cloudcraft Standalone’s separate checkout as confirmation of what the main Datadog platform accepts.

Step 1: Create your Datadog account

  1. Go to Datadog’s official trial sign-up page and enter your business email.
  2. Complete the requested account details, including your data-hosting region. Datadog lists sites in the US, Germany/EU, Japan, Australia, and the UK; these hosting choices do not guarantee that every product or payment method is available in every country.
  3. Choose your hosting region carefully. Datadog says data cannot be migrated between regions.
  4. Use the trial to identify the monitoring products you need before adding a payment method. Datadog states that its trial lasts 14 days and does not require a credit card.

Check Datadog’s eligibility terms for your location and organization. Its terms restrict service to certain sanctions targets and to individuals or entities in Russia or Belarus, among other applicable export-control restrictions. Use accurate account information rather than attempting to bypass a geographic or payment restriction.

Step 2: Review the plan and add your card

  1. As a Datadog administrator, open the account menu → Plan & Usage → Plan.
  2. Review the products and tiers shown for your account. Administrators can upgrade or downgrade on the Plan tab. If a paid feature you need is not offered through the standard plan controls, ask your Datadog account representative.
  3. Follow the card-payment option on the Plan tab. Enter your Coinepay virtual card number, expiry date, and CVV, along with your real billing information. Review the details before submitting them.
  4. Check the resulting plan and billing information in Datadog. Adding a card defaults the account to a monthly plan; if you want an annual arrangement, contact Datadog Customer Success rather than assuming that adding the card selects annual billing.

Datadog also offers direct invoice billing paid by ACH, wire, or check. If card payment is unavailable for your account or purchase, ask Datadog which billing route applies. Do not assume that a different payment route can be completed with a virtual card.

Understand what Datadog may charge

Datadog’s public price list separates annual, month-to-month, and on-demand rates, and products can use different billing units. For example, at the time of writing (October 2026), its US list showed Infrastructure Pro at $15 per infrastructure host per month on the annual rate and $18 per infrastructure host per month on the month-to-month rate. These are listed rates, not a quote for another region or a prediction of your total bill. Check Datadog’s official pricing page and your account’s plan details before committing.

Datadog’s billing cycle begins on the first day of each month in UTC. It prorates the first month and generally collects card charges near the tenth business day of the month. If a charge fails, Datadog says it may retry up to twice. Keep enough funds available for the actual bill, not just an estimated per-host starting rate. You can review prior bills under Plan & Usage → Billing History. Depending on your account, you may also see Bill Overview for estimated costs and usage; Datadog began rolling out that view in March 2026, so layouts can differ.

Why was my card declined?

Datadog does not publish a universal list of checkout decline messages for its main platform. The checks below are possible causes, not a diagnosis of a particular transaction. Avoid repeatedly submitting unchanged details; first review the card, account, and any notice shown at checkout.

Insufficient available funds

Compare the amount due with the available funds shown in your Coinepay app or dashboard. Remember that Datadog bills usage across separately metered products and that the first month can be prorated. If the balance appears sufficient but the payment still fails, contact Coinepay support with the time and amount of the attempt so they can help investigate.

Billing details do not match

Check the card number, expiry date, CVV, and billing information entered in Datadog. Correct typos and use your genuine personal or business billing details. If you are unsure which details to enter, ask Coinepay support; do not enter a made-up address or substitute someone else’s identity.

An authentication step was not completed

If checkout presents a 3-D Secure or other card-authentication prompt, follow the instructions shown and complete it only through the legitimate payment flow. A timed-out, closed, or unsuccessful prompt may require a fresh attempt. If no prompt appears, or authentication fails again, ask Coinepay support to review the attempt. Do not assume every Datadog card payment uses the same authentication process.

Merchant or region checks block the payment

Datadog or its payment processor may reject a card or transaction because of payment requirements, account details, or location checks. Its hosting-site list is not a payment-eligibility list. Confirm that your Datadog organization and billing details reflect your actual location, then ask Datadog billing support about any checkout restriction and Coinepay support whether your card meets the stated requirement. Do not change your reported region or use false details to get around a rejection.

Update the card or manage future billing

To replace the stored card, an administrator can go to Plan & Usage → Plan → Edit. Datadog stores one payment method at a time, so verify the replacement details before your next charge. To use Remove Card, Datadog instructs customers to downgrade to Free first; removing card details should not be treated as a way to cancel a paid commitment.

If you do not want an order to renew, Datadog’s published terms say to request non-renewal from your Customer Success Manager at least 15 days before the term ends, or make the change within the service. To stop further service expenses, submit a support request specifying an account-disablement date. Fees already paid are generally not refunded under the published terms except in specified qualifying early-termination circumstances; your individual order may govern differently. Review that order before changing a paid plan.
