SonarQube Cloud subscriptions belong to an organization, not to the GitHub or other DevOps account you use to sign in. If you’re considering its monthly Team plan, this guide covers the documented checkout path, where to manage your payment details, and what to check if a card is declined.

What you need before checkout

  • A DevOps identity: SonarQube Cloud sign-up uses an existing GitHub, Bitbucket, GitLab, or Azure DevOps identity. You will create or import the organization that will hold the subscription.
  • The right plan and private-code allowance: Free allows up to 50,000 lines of private code (LOC) and five organization members. Team offers selectable private-code limits from 100,000 to 1.9 million LOC. Enterprise LOC is arranged by contract. SonarQube for OSS is a separate free option for open-source organizations and does not allow private projects.
  • A Coinepay account and card: Register and complete identity verification before using Coinepay card services. Once issued, your virtual card’s number, expiry date, and CVV are available instantly. Check your available funds in the Coinepay app or dashboard before attempting payment.
  • Accurate billing information: Use your real name or business details and the billing address associated with your payment details. Check that the organization’s intended billing country is correct; SonarQube Cloud uses it to determine the checkout currency and applicable indirect taxes.

Sonar documents monthly online Team payments as automatically charged to a credit card. Before you buy, contact Coinepay support to confirm that your card meets Sonar’s credit-card requirement. Acceptance of any particular card at checkout is not assured.

Choose your SonarQube Cloud sign-up location and plan

Sonar documents separate EU and US SonarQube Cloud instances. Choose the instance appropriate for your organization and sign up on that instance; an account on one is not a substitute for signing up on the other. For the US instance, Sonar’s DevOps-login instructions require a corporate rather than a personal email address. These hosting choices do not establish whether a particular payment card or billing country is accepted.

Decide how much private code your organization needs before selecting Team. At the time of writing (October 2026), Sonar’s English pricing page prominently lists Team starting at US$34 per month for up to 100,000 LOC. The page also contains a conflicting figure in a later FAQ, so check Sonar’s official pricing page and the amount displayed at checkout rather than relying on that figure. Other LOC selections can cost more. Enterprise pricing and its annual billing arrangement are handled through Sonar’s sales team rather than this monthly card-checkout flow.

How to pay for a monthly Team subscription

  1. Prepare your Coinepay card. If you are new to Coinepay, register and finish identity verification. Open your virtual card in the iOS app, Android app, or self-service dashboard to find its number, expiry date, and CVV. Make sure the available balance can cover the checkout amount, including any taxes shown.
  2. Sign in to SonarQube Cloud. On the appropriate SonarQube Cloud instance, use your existing GitHub, Bitbucket, GitLab, or Azure DevOps identity. Follow the prompts to create or import the organization that needs private-project analysis.
  3. Start the Team checkout. In Sonar’s documented monthly Team flow, choose Get 14-day trial, then select the LOC allowance that fits your organization. Read the plan and trial terms presented on your actual checkout screen before continuing.
  4. Enter billing information. Provide your genuine billing details and review the billing country, currency, taxes, and displayed subscription amount. Sonar’s newer billing portal selects EUR, GBP, JPY, or USD according to billing country; the details you see at checkout govern your purchase.
  5. Enter the card details. If the checkout requests a card, enter your Coinepay virtual card’s number, expiry date, and CVV exactly as shown, together with matching billing details. Complete any authentication requested by the payment flow. Do not repeatedly submit while an authentication prompt is pending.
  6. Review and submit. Check the organization, selected LOC, recurring charge, and any trial information. The documented final action is Create Organization and Upgrade. Confirm only when you agree to the terms and amount displayed.

Sonar’s documentation shows card entry in this checkout path, while other sign-up paths may present different trial prompts. Follow the requirements shown for your organization rather than assuming every trial works the same way. For a yearly Team arrangement or Enterprise subscription, contact Sonar’s team about its sales-led billing process instead of expecting the monthly card form to apply.

Where to update your card or end monthly billing

Open the relevant organization in SonarQube Cloud and go to Billing and upgrade. For a monthly subscription, Sonar documents Billing and payment information → Edit as the route into its newer customer portal, where you can manage card and billing details. An existing customer may instead see Payment method → Edit. Look under the organization you subscribed with, not merely the DevOps identity used to sign in.

Monthly Team subscriptions renew automatically. If you want to end monthly paid billing, Sonar documents downgrading the organization to Free or deleting it; a downgrade takes effect on the next billing cycle. Check whether Free’s private-code and member allowances will accommodate your organization first. Sonar’s terms say cancellation is effective at the end of the current billing period, and payments are generally non-refundable, including for unused time or downgrades. Review Sonar’s current terms for the exceptions that may apply.

What to check if the card is declined

A failed checkout does not, by itself, identify the cause. Note the exact message, check whether your card was charged, and avoid repeated attempts while a payment is unresolved. Work through these checks:

Possible issuePractical next step
Insufficient available balanceCompare the available funds shown in Coinepay with Sonar’s full checkout amount, including any tax. Account for a recurring monthly charge, not only the first payment. If funds are insufficient, resolve that in Coinepay before trying again.
Billing-address mismatchCheck the name, address, postal code, and billing country entered at Sonar’s checkout for errors. Use your real billing details; do not change the country or invent an address to try to pass a check.
3-D Secure authenticationComplete any authentication prompt without closing or interrupting it. A reported Sonar error reads, “An error occured with your 3D Secure authentication. Please try again or use a different credit card.” This message does not prove a single cause. If it persists, ask Coinepay support to investigate the attempted payment and contact Sonar’s support if needed.
Merchant or region checksVerify that you signed up on the intended SonarQube Cloud instance and entered your actual billing country. Sonar’s credit-card requirement or other checkout checks may affect a payment. Ask Coinepay support whether your card meets the stated requirement, and ask Sonar about any merchant-side rejection.

If a renewal is repeatedly rejected, Sonar says private-project analyses can be suspended. Correcting and re-entering the payment details or adding a new accepted card can reactivate them. Use the organization’s Billing and upgrade page to make the change, then check its subscription status. When requesting help, share the error text and time of the attempt, but never send your full card number or CVV in a support message.

FAQ

Can I pay for SonarQube Cloud Free with a Coinepay card?

Free does not require a paid Team subscription. It allows up to 50,000 lines of private code and five organization members.

Does SonarQube Cloud accept my Coinepay virtual card?

Sonar describes monthly online Team payment as a credit-card charge. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets that requirement before buying; checkout acceptance is not guaranteed.

Where do I replace a card for my Team subscription?

Open the subscribed organization and go to Billing and upgrade → Billing and payment information → Edit. Existing customers may instead see Payment method → Edit.

What happens if my monthly Team renewal keeps failing?

Sonar says repeated card rejection can suspend private-project analyses. Update or replace the payment details under the organization’s Billing and upgrade page, then check the subscription status.
