Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) is an email marketing, automation and CRM platform used by teams of every size. If you manage its billing from a dashboard and want to keep your marketing spend organised, you can pay for an eligible paid plan with a Coinepay virtual card. This guide walks through what you need, how to upgrade and check out, and the most common reasons a card is declined at checkout.
Before you start: important card note
Brevo publishes its accepted payment methods and states one restriction clearly: prepaid debit cards are not accepted for subscription payments. Brevo names Adyen and Stripe as its card processors but does not publish a complete card-brand list for subscription checkout.
Because of this, before you buy, confirm your Coinepay card meets Brevo's requirement. The best approach is to contact Coinepay support to check your card details against Brevo's rule, and to review Brevo's own "Available payment methods" help page. Don't assume: verifying first saves you a failed charge and a half-finished upgrade.
What you'll need
- A verified Coinepay account. Register at the Coinepay sign-up page and complete identity verification (KYC) before you can use card services.
- A Coinepay virtual card with its card number, expiry date and CVV, which are issued instantly in the iOS or Android app.
- Enough balance to cover Brevo's total at checkout, including tax. Displayed plan prices exclude tax, and the checkout page shows the net amount, applicable tax and final total.
- Your real billing details (name, address and country) exactly as they appear on your Coinepay account.
- A Brevo account. The Free plan needs no payment card at all, so you can set up and explore first.
Brevo plans at a glance
Brevo's current English-language plans are Free, Starter, Standard, Professional and Enterprise (the French help pages label the last two Pro and Entreprise). At the time of writing (October 2026), US-dollar starting prices were Free $0, Starter $9/month, Standard $18/month, Professional $499/month and Enterprise by custom quote. These are starting prices tied to email and contact volume, not a single price for every tier, and they can change by region, so always confirm the payable amount on Brevo's official pricing page and at checkout.
A few billing policies worth knowing before you commit:
- Annual plans are paid upfront with a stated 10% discount; monthly and annual subscriptions renew automatically.
- Unused monthly email allowances expire at renewal.
- Eligible Starter and Standard users can be automatically moved to the next price tier when they reach a contact limit, which raises the subscription cost.
Step 1: Create or sign in to your Brevo account
Use Brevo's Sign up free link to create an account on its onboarding site, or sign in to an existing one. Because the Free plan requires no card, you can finish onboarding and confirm the platform fits your needs before upgrading.
Step 2: Set your billing information
Open the account dropdown and go to My plan → Billing information. Enter your legal name, address and country exactly as held by Coinepay. Matching these details reduces the chance of an address-verification mismatch when you pay. If you're a French VAT-registered business affected by the e-invoicing reform, add your invoicing identifiers here as Brevo requests.
Step 3: Choose and upgrade your plan
- From the account dropdown, select My plan → Upgrade plan.
- Choose the plan and the email/contact volume tier that fits your sending needs.
- Optionally add any add-ons.
- Proceed to checkout. Professional can be purchased directly or discussed with sales, while Enterprise is quoted individually.
Step 4: Pay with your Coinepay virtual card
- At checkout, select card payment. Note that direct debit (SEPA or ACH) is unavailable for a first payment, so a card is the usual route for an initial purchase.
- Enter your Coinepay card number, expiry date and CVV.
- Enter the billing address that matches your Coinepay account.
- Review the net amount, tax and final total, then confirm.
- If prompted, complete any 3-D Secure verification step in your Coinepay app.
After payment, Brevo saves the method under My plan → Payment methods, and you can download receipts from My plan → Invoices (admin accounts use Billing history).
Tip: one card per purpose
If you run several tools or ad accounts, Coinepay lets you issue a dedicated virtual card for each one with its own spending limit. Using a separate card for Brevo keeps its recurring charge easy to track against your other software and advertising spend, and makes reconciling invoices simpler.
Troubleshooting: common card-declined causes
Brevo does not publish a full decline-code list for subscription checkout, so the points below are general payment-failure causes to check. Work through them in order.
Insufficient balance
Confirm your Coinepay card holds enough to cover the full total including tax, which is added on top of the displayed price. Annual plans charge the whole year upfront, so the amount is larger than a monthly figure. Top up in the Coinepay app and try again.
Billing address mismatch
If the address at Brevo checkout doesn't match the details registered to your Coinepay card, the payment can be rejected by address verification. Re-check My plan → Billing information and make every field match your Coinepay account exactly.
3-D Secure not completed
Brevo processes cards through Adyen and Stripe, which may trigger a 3-D Secure challenge. If you miss or dismiss the prompt, the charge fails. Keep your Coinepay app open during checkout to approve the verification, then retry.
Prepaid or unsupported card
Brevo states that prepaid debit cards are not accepted. If your payment is refused for this reason, don't retry repeatedly—confirm with Coinepay support that your card type meets Brevo's requirement before buying.
Region and currency checks
Some payment routes are tied to location. SEPA direct debit needs a European location, billing country and a supported European account currency; ACH needs a US location, billing country and USD. Brevo has also restricted Argentine-peso payments to Argentina-issued Visa/Mastercard cards while moving those customers to USD billing. Make sure your chosen currency and billing country are consistent with the method you select.
Temporary connection or detail errors
A faulty connection or a mistyped card number, expiry or CVV will also stop a payment. Re-enter the card details carefully and try once on a stable connection.
If a default payment method becomes invalid, Brevo warns that service can be interrupted; its new-Admin guidance notes that failed-payment invoices can lead to suspension after 45 days. Keep a working card on file and clear any failed invoice promptly.
Cancellation and refunds
An authorized user can cancel through My plan → Cancel subscription. The paid plan then continues until the end of the current billing period before reverting to Free. Cancelling a yearly Professional plan requires a support ticket, and cancelling a plan does not cancel a dedicated IP. Brevo's refund policy is limited: it does not refund used or unused credits except for a Brevo technical error or a user not qualified to send from shared IPs, and it won't refund months lost to suspension or a forgotten cancellation. Diary your renewal date so you can cancel in time if needed.

FAQ
Can I use a Coinepay virtual card to pay for Brevo?
You can use an eligible card to pay for Brevo's paid plans. However, Brevo does not accept prepaid debit cards for subscriptions, and it doesn't publish a full card-brand list. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets Brevo's requirement before you buy.
Do I need a card to use Brevo's Free plan?
No. Brevo's Free plan requires no payment card, so you can create an account and explore the platform first, then add a card only when you upgrade to a paid plan.
Why was my card declined at Brevo checkout?
Common causes include insufficient balance (remember tax is added on top), a billing address that doesn't match your card, an incomplete 3-D Secure step, using an unsupported or prepaid card, or a currency/region mismatch. Check each and retry on a stable connection.
Where do I update my payment method or download invoices in Brevo?
Open the account dropdown and go to My plan. Payment methods are under Payment methods, billing details under Billing information, and receipts under Invoices (admin accounts use Billing history).
How much does Brevo cost?
At the time of writing (October 2026), US starting prices were Free $0, Starter $9/month, Standard $18/month and Professional $499/month, with Enterprise quoted. These are starting prices that vary by volume and region, so confirm the payable total on Brevo's official pricing page and at checkout.
