You can use a virtual card to enter payment details when buying a direct Ecwid subscription, provided the card meets Ecwid’s checkout requirements and the payment is approved. This guide covers Ecwid’s plan checkout—not payments made by shoppers at an Ecwid-powered store—and shows how to prepare your Coinepay card, subscribe, and investigate a decline.

Before you start

  • Set up Coinepay. Register for Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. You can manage your account through the self-service dashboard or Coinepay mobile app. A Coinepay virtual card provides a card number, expiry date, and CVV.
  • Check Ecwid’s card requirement. Direct Ecwid subscription checkout lists Visa and Mastercard credit or debit cards, as well as PayPal and, for eligible purchases, SEPA Direct Debit. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets Ecwid’s stated card requirement before you buy. Ecwid and its payment processor make the final decision on a transaction.
  • Have your real details ready. Ecwid sign-up requires a name, email, and password, or an Apple, Facebook, or Google sign-in. You will also provide business details. Use your genuine identity and the billing details associated with your card; do not enter another region’s address to try to pass a payment check.
  • Check the amount due. Allow for the plan price and any tax shown at checkout. Look in your Coinepay account for your available balance and any applicable card or funding information; contact support if you need clarification.

Coinepay card services require identity verification and may not be available in every jurisdiction. Card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions.

Choose an Ecwid plan and billing period

Direct Ecwid accounts offer four paid tiers: Starter, Venture, Business, and Unlimited. They allow up to 10, 100, 2,500, and unlimited products, respectively. Compare the features on Ecwid’s official pricing page before selecting a tier; product count alone may not determine the right plan for your store.

At the time of writing (October 2026), Ecwid listed the following direct-subscription prices for Venture, Business, and Unlimited in USD and EUR. The amounts below exclude tax; check Ecwid’s official pricing page and the amount displayed at checkout before paying.

PlanMonthly billingAnnual billing
Venture$35 or €35 per month$348 or €348 per year
Business$65 or €65 per month$588 or €588 per year
Unlimited$149 or €149 per month$1,428 or €1,428 per year

Ecwid also lists subscription billing in AUD, GBP, MXN, and INR. The price and currency you see can depend on your location; Starter pricing should be checked at your checkout. Direct subscriptions renew automatically on the monthly or annual schedule you choose, so review the recurring amount rather than only the first payment.

Subscribe to Ecwid using your Coinepay virtual card

  1. Create your Ecwid account. Go to Ecwid’s official site and begin sign-up. Enter your name, email, and password, or choose its Apple, Facebook, or Google sign-in option. Complete the requested business details and choose a plan. If you already have an account, sign in as its owner.
  2. Open direct-plan billing. In the Ecwid admin, go to My Profile → Billing and Plans → Upgrade to…. Select the tier you want. This path is for an Ecwid subscription purchased directly, not for configuring how customers pay in your store.
  3. Select monthly or annual billing. Check the displayed currency, renewal period, and total. If you have a valid coupon or an applicable VAT ID, enter it in the checkout fields and review the revised amount before proceeding.
  4. Enter your card information. Open your Coinepay dashboard or mobile app and use your virtual card’s number, expiry date, and CVV in Ecwid’s card payment fields. Enter your real billing information accurately. Keep the checkout open if your card payment requires an additional verification step.
  5. Review and submit. Check the plan, billing interval, tax, and payment details, then select Pay and Upgrade. Wait for Ecwid to show the result rather than repeatedly submitting while a payment is pending.
  6. Confirm the subscription. Return to My Profile → Billing and Plans to check your plan and billing information. Ecwid keeps charge details and receipts there. You can also review the card transaction in Coinepay.

A purchase made inside Ecwid’s iOS or Android app follows Apple ID or Google Play billing instead of this direct card checkout. A subscription purchased through a partner has its payment method managed on that partner’s platform. If your goal is to enter the Coinepay card at Ecwid’s own subscription checkout, use the direct-plan flow described above. Ecwid notes that its Android app cannot sell annual Unlimited, or annual Business in some countries, because of Google Billing charge limits.

If Ecwid declines the card

Ecwid may display a failed-payment notice and send one by email. Start with the exact error shown, then check the matching cause below. Do not assume every decline can be fixed by re-entering the same details.

  • “Declined. Insufficient funds in the account”: Check your available balance against the full checkout total, including any tax. If the balance appears sufficient, review the transaction in Coinepay or contact support before trying again.
  • “Expired Card”: Compare the expiry date entered at Ecwid checkout with the date displayed for your current Coinepay virtual card. Update the payment details if they differ.
  • “Card Declined”: Check the number, expiry date, and CVV for typing errors. Confirm your real billing address matches the details used for the payment. A generic decline can also reflect a card requirement or merchant-region check; contact Coinepay support to ask about the attempted transaction, and ask Ecwid support about its checkout requirements if needed.
  • 3-D Secure or another verification step does not complete: Follow any authentication instructions presented during checkout. If a prompt expires or does not appear, check for an alert in your Coinepay account and ask Coinepay support whether verification was requested. Do not assume your card supports a particular authentication flow without confirmation.
  • “Stolen/lost Card”: Stop retrying that card. Ecwid says this label can also relate to a closed account. Check the card’s status in Coinepay and contact support for the appropriate next step.

If Ecwid appears to reject the card because of its type or issuing region, do not try a fabricated billing address or other workaround. Ecwid’s direct checkout specifies Visa or Mastercard credit/debit cards. Contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets that requirement before another attempt, and check with Ecwid about any restriction reported by its checkout.

For a failed renewal, act on Ecwid’s notice promptly. Ecwid documents a five-day grace period for card and PayPal subscription payments, compared with 15 days for SEPA Direct Debit. You can review payment settings under My Profile → Billing and Plans; if the failure remains unclear, give the relevant support team the error text and transaction time, but never send your full card number or CVV in a support message.

Manage renewal or cancel the direct subscription

Use My Profile → Billing and Plans to review payment settings, charges, and receipts for a direct Ecwid subscription. To cancel, choose Cancel plan subscription → Unsubscribe. Ecwid says this stops the subscription immediately and removes the payment method, so check the effect on your store before confirming. Ecwid describes subscription charges as non-refundable, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

Finally, keep subscription billing separate from your store’s customer payments. Store-owner payment methods for shoppers are configured on the Ecwid admin’s Payment page, and available providers depend on the store’s location. Adding your Coinepay card to pay an Ecwid plan does not configure a checkout method for your customers.

FAQ

Can I pay for an Ecwid subscription with any virtual card?

Not necessarily. Ecwid lists Visa and Mastercard credit/debit cards for direct subscription checkout. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets this requirement before you buy; payment remains subject to checkout approval.

Where do I add or update my card for a direct Ecwid plan?

The account owner can go to My Profile → Billing and Plans. This area contains direct-plan checkout and payment settings.

Why was my Ecwid subscription payment declined?

Check Ecwid’s error notice. Common causes include insufficient funds, an expired card, incorrect card or billing details, an incomplete verification step, or a merchant card or region check.

Will an Ecwid plan renew automatically?

Yes. Direct Ecwid subscriptions renew on the monthly or annual billing schedule selected at checkout. Review renewal and charge details under My Profile → Billing and Plans.
