You can try using a Coinepay virtual card to subscribe to Evernote through Evernote’s web checkout. This guide covers what to prepare, how to choose a plan and enter your card details, and what to check if payment fails. Card acceptance depends on Evernote’s checkout and the checks applied to your transaction.
Choose an Evernote plan and billing route
Evernote’s current individual plans are Evernote Free, Evernote Starter and Evernote Advanced. Free does not require a paid subscription. If you have seen instructions for Evernote Personal or Professional, note that those older individual plans are no longer offered to new subscribers. Evernote also lists Flexible and Enterprise business plans; this guide focuses on an individual web subscription.
Choose between monthly and annual billing based on the amount due at checkout, not just an advertised monthly equivalent. At the time of writing (October 2026), Evernote’s US pricing lists Starter at $14.99 billed monthly or $99.00 billed yearly, and Advanced at $24.99 billed monthly or $249.99 billed yearly. The $8.25 and $20.83 monthly figures shown for annual plans are equivalents, not monthly-billing prices. Prices vary by region and can change; check Evernote’s official pricing page and your checkout total before paying.
For the card-entry steps below, start on Evernote’s website and select its direct web checkout. Evernote also offers subscriptions through Apple and Google Play, but those are separate billing routes. A purchase through an app store is managed through that store rather than by editing a directly billed card in Evernote.
What you need before checkout
- An Evernote account: You can create one during web sign-up or sign in to an existing account. Check which account you are using before buying, especially if you have more than one email address.
- A Coinepay account ready for card services: Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using a virtual card. Your card number, expiry date and CVV are available when the card is issued; manage the card from the self-service dashboard or Coinepay mobile app.
- Enough available funds: Allow for the full monthly or annual amount displayed at checkout, rather than the annual plan’s monthly equivalent. Review the amount in your own account before submitting payment.
- Your real billing information: Use your correct name and billing address if Evernote asks for them. Check that the information you enter is consistent with the details associated with your payment method.
Evernote’s web checkout offers a credit or debit card option and, in selected countries, PayPal. Available methods can vary by country. Selecting the card option lets you try the Coinepay card, but it does not establish that a particular transaction will be accepted. Check the Coinepay app or contact Coinepay support if you need details about your card or a payment attempt.
How to subscribe to Evernote with your virtual card
- Go to Evernote’s official website. Open its plans or compare-plans page and choose Evernote Starter or Evernote Advanced. Review the features and select the billing period you want.
- Sign in or create an Evernote account. Continue using your real account details. If you already subscribe, first check your current plan and billing route in Evernote Web under Account Settings → Billing so you do not accidentally start a separate purchase.
- Review the checkout. Confirm the plan, billing period, displayed currency and total charge. Evernote says an account’s subscription currency is initially set by region; the displayed currency can also depend on device IP address. If the currency seems wrong, do not change your location details to force a different price. Ask Evernote support about your account currency before paying.
- Select the card payment option if offered. Enter the Coinepay virtual card number, expiry date and CVV exactly as shown in your Coinepay dashboard or app. Enter your genuine billing details wherever the checkout requests them.
- Complete any payment verification shown. Follow the on-screen instructions if an authentication step appears. Review the final amount, then submit the payment once rather than repeatedly clicking the confirmation button.
- Verify the result. In Evernote Web, open Account Settings → Billing to check your plan, payment method, renewal details and receipts. Also check the payment status in Coinepay. If one side shows a charge while the other does not show an active subscription, collect the relevant transaction details and contact Evernote support before trying again.
If you use the Coinepay app, it is available for iOS and Android. Card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions. Availability of some Coinepay services varies by jurisdiction.
Troubleshoot a declined Evernote card payment
A decline does not by itself identify the cause. Evernote advises checking the card number, CVV and expiry date, whether the card has expired or is suitable for online payment, available funds, and whether the payment currency matches the account. Work through the relevant checks below before making another attempt.
Insufficient available balance
Compare your available card funds with the full amount due now at Evernote checkout. Annual billing requires the yearly charge, not one month of the advertised annual equivalent. If funds are insufficient, make the necessary change through Coinepay’s dashboard or app, then retry after confirming the available balance. Check the Coinepay app or ask support if you need information about funding options.
Incorrect card details or billing-address mismatch
Re-enter the card number, expiry and CVV carefully, and check for an expired card. If Evernote requests a billing address, use your real address and correct any typing errors or mismatches with the details associated with your payment method. Do not use a made-up address to try to pass a merchant check. If the details appear correct but payment still fails, contact Coinepay support with the time and amount of the attempt; do not send your full card number or CVV in a support message.
3-D Secure or another authentication step does not finish
If checkout displays an authentication challenge, complete it as directed and return to the Evernote checkout to see whether payment succeeded. A closed, timed-out or incomplete challenge may leave the purchase unfinished. Check Evernote Account Settings → Billing and your Coinepay transaction status before retrying. If verification repeatedly fails, ask Coinepay support to review the attempt and tell Evernote support what happened at checkout.
Currency or merchant-region checks
Check the currency shown at Evernote checkout against your Evernote account’s subscription currency. Evernote says support must handle changes to that account currency. Payment options also vary by country, so a card option shown to one customer may not appear to another. Use your actual country and billing information; do not try to bypass regional or payment checks. If Evernote rejects the transaction after your details are confirmed, ask Evernote support whether its checkout has a relevant account or regional requirement, and contact Coinepay support for information about the card attempt.
Evernote says a failed payment may display “in Retry” and that it may retry the payment up to seven times within four business days. This status is not a specific explanation of why your card failed. Check Billing and your Coinepay activity before submitting a fresh payment, so you can avoid confusion if an automatic retry succeeds.
Update, cancel or request a refund
For a subscription billed directly by Evernote, go to Evernote Web Account Settings → Billing → Payment Method → Edit to update the card. Billing also shows renewal details and receipts. If you subscribed through Apple or Google Play, manage the payment method in the respective store. Moving from store billing to direct billing generally requires cancelling the existing subscription, letting it expire and then subscribing again through Evernote.
To stop renewal on a directly billed plan, use Account Settings → Billing → Your plan → Manage → Cancel plan, or the cancellation control at the bottom of Billing if shown. Apple- and Google-billed subscribers cancel through their stores. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; your account then returns to Evernote Free. Existing notes are not deleted, but Free limits apply.
If you need a refund, Evernote’s individual-plan policy says requests received within 20 days of a monthly payment or 60 days of an annual payment are eligible for processing. After those windows, it does not offer a prorated refund for partial use, subject to applicable local law and governing agreements. For direct billing, look for Billing → Need help? where available or contact Evernote support. For an Apple or Google Play purchase, use that store’s refund process.
