Paying an Alibaba.com supplier from another country involves more than choosing a way to send money. You need an order that matches what you agreed to buy, a payment method available at checkout, and records that connect the payment to the right supplier and order. This guide explains when a Coinepay virtual card may fit an online checkout and when Coinepay Global Remittance may fit a supplier transfer—and why the distinction matters for Trade Assurance.

Before you pay: agree on the order and its payment terms

Confirm the product specifications, quantity, price, shipping terms and delivery date with the supplier in Alibaba.com’s Message Center. For a negotiated purchase, ask the supplier to draft an order so you can review those terms before paying. For an eligible listed product, you may be able to select Start order instead.

Check the order details for its payment term. Trade Assurance is Alibaba.com’s protected-order service; its protection begins when payment for the Trade Assurance order succeeds. Direct Pay is different: Alibaba.com says its dispute handling for Direct Pay does not cover complaints about product conformity, damage or shortages. Do not assume that paying any Alibaba.com supplier automatically creates Trade Assurance coverage.

To find the payment options for your order, go to My Alibaba → Orders, open the order and choose Make payment. A supplier may also share a link to the order in Alibaba.com’s Message Center. Review the order from within your Alibaba.com account before acting on a payment request. The methods and currencies offered can differ by buyer and order; rely on what your checkout actually displays.

Choose the right route: online card checkout or supplier transfer

  • Online checkout: If your order displays a card option, you can enter a Coinepay virtual card’s number, expiry date and CVV at checkout. A displayed card option does not guarantee that a particular payment will be accepted. Keep the payment attached to the order you reviewed.
  • Order-linked wire transfer: If the Trade Assurance order offers wire transfer and you want to retain the applicable order protection, use the beneficiary, bank details and instructions on that specific order’s payment page. Do not substitute account details sent separately in a message or invoice. Before using any sending service, confirm it can follow those instructions and that Alibaba.com will recognize the resulting payment for the order.
  • Direct supplier payment: Coinepay Global Remittance can be used for an eligible cross-border business payment to an overseas supplier, including settlement in the trading partner’s local currency where available. First confirm the supplier’s verified legal name, agreed payment details and intended payout method. A direct transfer to the supplier is not, by itself, payment through Trade Assurance checkout and should not be treated as protected by that order.

Alibaba.com lists methods including wire transfer, credit/debit card, online transfer, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Western Union, Boleto and letter of credit for Trade Assurance checkout. That list is not a promise that every option will appear on your order. Likewise, sending money to an Alibaba.com Pay seller collection account does not, by itself, establish Trade Assurance coverage: the seller must create and link a Trade Assurance order to the payment.

What to prepare before making an international payment

  • Your account and identity: Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using its card services. Transfers are also subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Use your real identity and accurate business and billing details.
  • Purchase documents: Save the Alibaba.com order, agreed specifications, supplier invoice or pro forma invoice, and shipping terms. Check that the supplier name, goods, amount and payment instructions are consistent. Coinepay may request documents explaining the payment’s purpose or source of funds.
  • Recipient details: For a direct supplier transfer, confirm the recipient’s legal name and payout details through a trusted channel. For an order-linked wire, use the details shown on that order’s payment page rather than a separate request.
  • Checkout information: Check the displayed total, currency and payment method before confirming. If paying by card, have the virtual card details ready. If paying by transfer, check the recipient and any reference required to identify the order.

Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions, and it screens customers and counterparties against sanctions lists. Transfers are not available to jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions, including Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria and the occupied regions of Ukraine. Other services may not be available in every jurisdiction. Follow applicable trade, tax and payment rules for your location and the supplier’s location; a marketplace order does not remove those obligations.

How to pay at Alibaba.com checkout with a Coinepay virtual card

  1. Set up your card. Register with Coinepay, complete the required identity verification, and use the self-service dashboard or mobile app to access your virtual card number, expiry date and CVV. Check the app for the card information and controls relevant to your purchase.
  2. Check the Alibaba.com order. In My Alibaba → Orders, select the order and review its specifications, delivery terms, payment term and amount. Choose Make payment.
  3. Use the displayed card option. If card payment appears for that order, enter the virtual card details and your real billing information. Review the checkout total and submit the payment only when the information matches the purchase you approved.
  4. Verify the result. Check the order’s payment status in Alibaba.com and retain its receipt or confirmation alongside your Coinepay transaction record. If you do not see a clear result, investigate before attempting the charge again.

If the Trade Assurance order permits a deposit followed by a balance payment, return to its order-details page and use Pay the Balance for the later payment. Do not send the balance to a newly supplied account without checking the order’s instructions.

How to pay a supplier by transfer with Coinepay Global Remittance

  1. Decide whether the payment must be order-linked. If you are paying a Trade Assurance order by wire, first read its checkout instructions. Check whether Coinepay can send the payment in the required form, to the specified beneficiary, with the required order reference. If you cannot establish that fit, ask Alibaba.com for an available checkout method rather than making an unlinked transfer.
  2. For an agreed direct payment, verify the supplier. Confirm the supplier’s legal name, recipient details, invoice and agreed currency. Ensure you understand that a payment outside Trade Assurance checkout does not gain its protection merely because the supplier sells on Alibaba.com.
  3. Create the transfer. In the Coinepay dashboard or app, enter the eligible recipient and select an available payout method. Coinepay supports bank-account deposit, mobile-wallet payout and cash pickup; use the method appropriate to the supplier and your agreement. Review the recipient details, exchange rate and fees shown before confirming.
  4. Keep the records together. Track the transfer’s status in Coinepay. Save its transaction record with the supplier invoice and, where relevant, the Alibaba.com order. Ask the supplier to confirm receipt against the correct invoice; do not treat a remittance status alone as confirmation that Alibaba.com has marked an order paid.

Businesses paying overseas suppliers can use Coinepay’s international-trade payments to settle with trading partners in their local currency and retain compliant transaction records. For questions about an available route or payout method, contact Coinepay support before sending.

Troubleshooting common payment problems

The card payment fails or the result is unclear

Recheck the card number, expiry date, CVV, billing details and available funds. Alibaba.com also identifies issuer declines, international-use restrictions and duplicate-payment detection as possible causes. Check both the Alibaba.com order and your Coinepay activity before retrying, so you do not unintentionally submit the same payment twice. If the decline persists, contact Coinepay support or use another method actually offered at checkout.

The order still shows “pending payment” after a transfer

A wire-funded order can remain pending payment while the payment is being processed or matched. Compare your transfer record with the beneficiary details and payment reference on the specific order. If the transfer is marked received but the order has not updated, contact Alibaba.com customer service with the order and payment records. Coinepay’s transfer tracker shows the remittance’s status, which may not be the same as the order’s status.

The supplier asks for a different account

Pause. A personal account or a method absent from Trade Assurance checkout is not covered by Trade Assurance. For a protected wire, use the account shown on the order’s payment page, not a replacement supplied by message or invoice. Ask the supplier to resolve the discrepancy through the Alibaba.com order before paying.

A local requirement changes the checkout

Follow the requirements shown for your specific order and location. For example, Alibaba.com requires an information filing for its U.S. local T/T service; a missing filing can restrict that service. For online orders delivered to Hungary, Alibaba.com identifies a Hungary Surcharge alongside VAT. These are platform-specific considerations, not rules to assume apply to every international supplier payment. If anything in the final total or instructions is unclear, resolve it before confirming.

FAQ

Can I use a Coinepay virtual card for an Alibaba.com Trade Assurance order?

If card payment is displayed for your order, you can enter your Coinepay virtual card details at checkout. Acceptance is determined during payment; check the order status afterward.

Will a Coinepay transfer directly to the supplier have Trade Assurance protection?

Not by itself. For a protected wire payment, follow the instructions on that specific Trade Assurance order’s payment page and confirm the sending method can meet them.

Where do I find the bank details for an Alibaba.com order?

Open My Alibaba → Orders, select the order and choose Make payment. For an order-linked wire, use the beneficiary and bank details displayed on that order’s payment page.

What if my Alibaba.com order still says “pending payment”?

Compare your payment record with the order’s instructions and check the transfer status. If payment was received but the order has not updated, contact Alibaba.com customer service with the order and payment records.
