You can send money to Argentina with Coinepay Global Remittance. Before you start, ask your recipient how they want to receive the money and collect the details for that payout method. This guide explains what to prepare, how to review and send the transfer, and what to check if the recipient has trouble receiving it.

What you need before sending

You need a Coinepay account and must complete identity verification before sending. You can manage the transfer in the Coinepay mobile app or the 24/7 self-service dashboard. Use your real identity and accurate information about the payment; transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations.

Ask for the recipient’s full legal name exactly as it appears on their bank or wallet account, or on the identification they will use for cash pickup. You will also need the payout details for the method you choose. Keep a way to contact the recipient in case their bank or payout provider asks them to complete a receiving step.

Argentina’s local currency is the Argentine peso (ARS). Select the destination and available payout currency in Coinepay, then check the recipient amount, exchange rate and fees displayed before you confirm. Do not assume that a particular receiving account or wallet can accept every currency; ask the recipient to verify its instructions.

Choose a payout method in Argentina

Coinepay supports bank deposit, mobile-wallet payout and cash pickup as local payout methods. The options available for your particular transfer are the ones shown when you select Argentina and your sending route. Choose the method your recipient can use, and follow the fields displayed rather than entering bank details into wallet fields or vice versa.

Bank deposit

For a deposit to an Argentine bank account, ask the recipient for the account holder’s legal name, bank name and CBU (Clave Bancaria Uniforme). The CBU is a 22-digit code that identifies the bank, branch and account. Argentina does not use IBAN for its bank accounts, so do not ask the recipient to invent one. If the recipient supplies an account number rather than a CBU, get the bank’s complete instructions, including the branch number where required.

Depending on the transfer route and receiving bank, you may also be asked for the recipient’s identification or tax number, such as a CUIL, CUIT or CDI, a contact number, and the bank’s SWIFT/BIC. For an incoming international bank payment, the receiving bank may provide currency-specific instructions or require an intermediary bank. Ask the recipient to obtain those instructions from their bank before you send; a SWIFT/BIC alone may not be enough. Deposit arrangements at banks such as Banco Nación, Santander, Galicia and BBVA can differ, so use the instructions for the recipient’s actual account.

Mobile wallet

If mobile-wallet payout is offered for your route, select the wallet shown in Coinepay and enter the recipient details requested for that option. Mercado Pago and Pago Fácil are examples of Argentine wallet receipt options offered on some remittance routes; their appearance elsewhere does not mean both will appear for your Coinepay transfer. Confirm the live choices in the app before promising a recipient a particular wallet payout.

Ask the recipient to check that their wallet is active and able to receive the payment. An Argentine wallet account may have a CVU (Clave Virtual Uniforme), a 22-digit identifier for a payment-service-provider account. A CVU is not a bank CBU: do not substitute it in a bank-deposit or bank-wire field. Use a CVU or other wallet identifier only if the selected payout flow asks for it.

Cash pickup

If cash pickup is offered for the route, choose an available pickup option and enter the recipient’s legal name as shown on their valid identification. Check the pickup location and instructions displayed for the transfer, then share the information the recipient needs to collect it, such as a transfer reference if one is provided. The recipient should check the pickup provider’s identification and collection requirements before visiting. Do not select cash pickup on the assumption that every location can handle every transfer.

How to send the transfer

  1. Sign in to Coinepay. If you are new, register and complete identity verification. Open the Global Remittance transfer flow in the app or dashboard.
  2. Choose Argentina and the payout. Select Argentina as the destination, choose the available payout currency and select bank deposit, mobile wallet or cash pickup from the options shown for your route.
  3. Enter sender and recipient information. Provide the requested amount, the recipient’s full legal name and the details for the selected payout method. If asked, state the genuine purpose of the payment and provide any other required information. Compare each account digit, code or wallet identifier with the recipient’s own instructions.
  4. Review before confirming. Check the recipient amount, currency, exchange rate and fees shown by Coinepay before confirmation. Also check the payout method and every recipient detail. If anything is wrong or unclear, go back and correct it rather than confirming.
  5. Confirm and track. Confirm the transfer when you are satisfied with the details. Use Coinepay’s transfer-status tracking in the app or dashboard, and keep the transfer reference available if you need support.

What the recipient may need to do

An Argentine receiving bank or authorized exchange entity may ask the recipient for documents explaining the genuine purpose of an incoming payment and the applicable exchange-rule category. For a personal transfer, a bank may ask about the sender–recipient relationship or request supporting identification. The exact requirements depend on the transaction and the receiving institution. Coinepay may also ask the sender for documents, including evidence of the purpose or source of funds.

Tell the recipient what kind of payment you are sending so they can respond accurately to their provider. A payment for exported services is not the same as a personal remittance: Argentine invoicing and exchange requirements may apply to business receipts. The recipient should ask their bank or a qualified local adviser what documentation applies to their circumstances rather than treating every overseas receipt as a personal transfer.

Troubleshooting an Argentina transfer

  • Wrong recipient details: If you notice a misspelled legal name, incorrect CBU or CVU, wrong bank information or an unsuitable payout method, check the transfer status and contact Coinepay support promptly. Do not assume a submitted transfer can be edited or recovered. Have the correct details and transfer reference ready.
  • Compliance review: If Coinepay or the receiving institution requests identification, purpose-of-payment evidence or source-of-funds documents, provide genuine documents through the requested channel. Screening and local regulatory checks can affect processing. Do not send another transfer to avoid a review.
  • Recipient has not received the money: Check the status in Coinepay, then ask the recipient to check their bank, wallet or pickup instructions. An Argentine bank may need the recipient to supply documents or instruct it how to credit an incoming payment. A bank or payout provider may also be temporarily unable to process a transfer.
  • Transfer is returned: Incorrect instructions, a closed or restricted account, a provider rejection, or a mismatch between the currency and receiving account can prevent payout. Check Coinepay’s transfer status and contact support for the reason and next steps before trying again with verified details.

Coinepay sends transfers to Argentina, but it does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions. Every transfer is subject to applicable screening and local rules. If you are unsure which details or payout method to use, confirm them with the recipient and contact Coinepay support before sending.

FAQ

Does an Argentine bank account have an IBAN?

No. Argentine bank accounts use a 22-digit CBU. Ask the recipient for their bank’s full incoming-payment instructions, including a SWIFT/BIC if required.

Can I send to an Argentine mobile wallet?

Choose mobile-wallet payout if it appears for your transfer route in Coinepay. Confirm the specific wallet and required recipient identifier in the app; do not enter a wallet CVU as a bank CBU.

What should I do if I entered the wrong CBU?

Check the transfer status and contact Coinepay support promptly with the transfer reference and correct details. Do not assume a submitted transfer can be changed.

Why might a recipient in Argentina be asked for documents?

The receiving institution may need evidence of the payment’s purpose or other information to meet Argentine requirements. Coinepay may also request documents for identity, sanctions or source-of-funds checks.
