You can create a Deepgram account without entering a card, then add a payment method when you need to purchase credits or set up ongoing billing. This guide explains how to prepare a Coinepay virtual card, find billing for your Deepgram project, and work through common payment problems. A successful payment depends on Deepgram’s checkout and the card transaction being approved; having a virtual card does not guarantee acceptance.

Choose how you want to pay for Deepgram

Deepgram lists three plans: Pay As You Go, Growth, and Enterprise. Pay As You Go provides initial credit and does not require a card at sign-up. Once that credit is exhausted, you can purchase more credits or enroll in auto-load to continue using paid API services. Growth is an annual prepaid-credit commitment that renews unless canceled. Enterprise buyers are directed to Deepgram’s sales team rather than a published fixed-price checkout.

At the time of writing (October 2026), Deepgram advertised $200 in initial Pay As You Go credit and Growth starting at US$4,000 per year in prepaid credits. Its terms describe a default Pay As You Go auto-load setting that charges $100 when the credit balance falls below $10; you can change that setting. Check Deepgram’s official pricing page and the amounts shown in your Console before committing, because pricing and settings may change. Deepgram’s terms say payment methods are charged in US dollars, with applicable taxes and charges.

Deepgram bills usage for products such as Nova-3 speech-to-text, Aura-2 text-to-speech, and its Voice Agent API against the relevant rates and credits. Review the rates for the API you intend to use; adding a card is not itself a substitute for selecting the right billing arrangement.

What you need before adding a card

  • A Deepgram account and project: use Sign Up Free on Deepgram’s pricing page to reach the Console. API use also requires an API key. Billing is associated with a project, so check which project you are funding.
  • A Coinepay account: register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. You can manage your account through its 24/7 self-service dashboard or the Coinepay mobile app for iOS and Android.
  • Available funds and accurate details: have enough available to cover the intended purchase and any applicable taxes or charges. Use your real name and billing details, and keep the card number, expiry date, and CVV available from your Coinepay card view.

Deepgram’s published materials describe card payments, but do not establish that every virtual card is eligible. If checkout specifies a card-type or issuing-country requirement, contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets it before you buy. Follow Deepgram’s eligibility rules for your actual location; do not use alternate billing details to bypass them.

How to add your Coinepay card and pay

  1. Create or open your Deepgram account. Select Sign Up Free for Pay As You Go, or Get Started from the Growth listing, and complete Deepgram’s account flow to enter the Console. You can start with the initial Pay As You Go credit without adding a card.
  2. Select the project you want to fund. In the Console, find that project’s Billing area. Review its credit balance, payment options, and any current auto-load settings. Use the labels shown in your account if Deepgram changes its navigation.
  3. Decide on a billing action. For Pay As You Go, choose an available option to purchase credits or set up auto-load when needed. For Growth, review the annual commitment and the terms presented before proceeding. If the action you want is not shown, do not assume another project’s billing settings will apply to this one.
  4. Enter your card information at checkout. Obtain the card number, expiry date, and CVV from Coinepay. Enter the real cardholder and billing details requested by Deepgram’s payment form. Review the amount, currency, applicable taxes or charges, and whether you are authorizing future charges.
  5. Complete any requested verification and confirm. If an authentication prompt appears, follow its instructions. Return to Deepgram to check whether the payment or billing change succeeded; do not rely only on a pending card notification. Keep the resulting payment record for your accounts.

If you turn on Pay As You Go auto-load, review the trigger and reload amount rather than assuming the default suits your usage. Deepgram says these settings can be reviewed, changed, or disabled in Billing. A Growth customer with a valid card on file may also authorize weekly, in-arrears charges for usage beyond prepaid credits. Read those terms before leaving a card on file.

What to check if your card is declined

A failed checkout does not identify its cause by itself. Record the exact message shown, check whether a charge is pending, and avoid repeatedly submitting the same payment without changing or verifying anything. Work through these checks:

  • Insufficient available balance: compare the available funds in Coinepay with Deepgram’s full checkout amount, including applicable taxes or charges. If auto-load failed, check the configured reload amount, not just the remaining Deepgram credit balance.
  • Billing-detail mismatch: re-enter the card number, expiry date, CVV, and your real billing details carefully. Correct outdated information in the appropriate account rather than entering an address that is not yours.
  • 3-D Secure or other authentication: if a verification step appears, complete it promptly and return to checkout. If it times out or does not appear as expected, check your Coinepay app for any relevant prompt or transaction status, then contact support with the time and amount. An authentication problem is a possible general card-payment cause, not a confirmed explanation for a particular Deepgram decline.
  • Merchant or region checks: a payment may be blocked by a merchant’s eligibility or risk checks. Confirm that your actual location and billing details comply with Deepgram’s terms. Those terms restrict use involving sanctioned persons and certain sanctioned or embargoed locations. If checkout states a specific card-type or issuing-country restriction, contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets it; do not assume it does.

Distinguish a card decline at checkout from Deepgram’s API error 402 Payment Required / ASR_PAYMENT_REQUIRED. Deepgram documents that API error for a project without sufficient credits and without an overage agreement. Check the affected project’s credits and billing setup first; the API response does not, on its own, mean your card issuer rejected a transaction. For an unresolved checkout failure, share the exact error and transaction time with Deepgram support, and ask Coinepay support to investigate the card side. Do not send your full card number or CVV in a support message.

Manage ongoing charges and unused credits

Keep an eye on the correct project’s balance and auto-load settings as your API usage changes. Under Deepgram’s terms, cancel Pay As You Go auto-load before its next reload trigger if you do not want another reload; access continues until credits are exhausted. Cancel Growth through the account-settings controls at least one day before the annual term ends to prevent renewal; access continues through the term’s end.

Do not assume that cancellation refunds remaining credit. Deepgram’s terms generally exclude refunds for unused time, credits, or prepayments except where its pricing page expressly provides otherwise. At the time of writing (October 2026), that page described a request route for unused credits purchased within the preceding 30 days; older credit purchases were nonrefundable. Check Deepgram’s current pricing page and use its stated request process if you think your purchase qualifies.

FAQ

Do I need a card to create a Deepgram account?

No. Deepgram’s Pay As You Go sign-up offers initial credit without requiring a card. You need a billing arrangement to continue paid use after that credit runs out.

Where do I change Deepgram auto-load settings?

Open the relevant project in the Deepgram Console and look in Billing. Review the reload amount and trigger there; use the labels currently shown in your account.

Does a Deepgram 402 Payment Required error mean my card was declined?

Not necessarily. Deepgram documents 402 Payment Required / ASR_PAYMENT_REQUIRED when a project lacks sufficient credits and an overage agreement. Check that project’s billing and balance.

What should I do if Deepgram rejects my Coinepay card?

Check available funds, card details, real billing information, and any authentication prompt. Save the exact checkout error, then contact Deepgram about checkout or Coinepay support about the card transaction.
