You can use a Coinepay virtual card when purchasing a Smartsheet plan if the card meets Smartsheet’s payment requirements and the transaction is approved. This guide covers what to check before buying, how to move from sign-up to payment, and what to do if your card is declined.
What you need before you start
- A Smartsheet plan that fits your team. Smartsheet lists Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Advanced Work Management. Pro is for 1–10 paid Members and is available only to new customers; Business starts at 3 Members, and Enterprise starts at 10. Enterprise and Advanced Work Management have custom pricing and direct buyers to contact sales.
- A verified Coinepay account. Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. Your virtual card’s number, expiry date, and CVV are available after issuance in Coinepay’s self-service dashboard or mobile app.
- Your real billing details. Use your actual name and billing address, and make sure the details you enter at Smartsheet checkout match the details associated with your payment method.
- Enough available funds. Check the total shown at checkout, particularly if you select yearly billing or multiple Members. Check your available balance in Coinepay before submitting payment.
Smartsheet lists Visa, Mastercard, Discover, PayPal, and ACH direct debit for in-app plans; it lists American Express only for USD payments. ACH requires a US bank and USD. These are Smartsheet’s listed methods, not a promise that any particular virtual card will be accepted. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets Smartsheet’s stated card requirements before you buy. If you have questions about Smartsheet’s checkout eligibility in your location, ask Smartsheet billing as well.
Choose a Smartsheet plan and billing term
Visit Smartsheet’s official pricing page and review the plans available to you. Check whether the displayed rate is billed monthly or yearly and how many paid Members you need. At the time of writing (October 2026), the US pricing page showed Pro at $12 per Member per month when billed monthly, or $9 per Member per month when billed yearly. Business showed $24 and $19 per Member per month, respectively. These are per-Member rates, not necessarily the total you will pay; check Smartsheet’s official pricing page and checkout for current prices in your market.
If you want to explore the product first, new users can start a 30-day trial with Business-plan access. Smartsheet says it does not collect billing information for that trial and charges only if you purchase a plan. The trial is not the legacy Free plan, which stopped accepting new sign-ups on August 28, 2024.
Smartsheet uses paid Members alongside other seat types and has a provisional-use and true-up process. Before choosing a team plan, review its current Member and billing rules so you understand how added users could affect future charges. Your plan selection and any renewal amount deserve a separate check before you confirm payment.
How to sign up and pay with your Coinepay virtual card
- Prepare your card. Sign in to the Coinepay dashboard or the Coinepay app for iOS or Android. If you have not registered and completed identity verification, do that first. Find your issued virtual card’s number, expiry date, and CVV, and check your available balance.
- Open Smartsheet’s official pricing page. Select Start now for Pro or Business. For Enterprise or Advanced Work Management, select Contact us and follow the sales-led purchasing process instead of expecting the same self-service card checkout.
- Create or sign in to your Smartsheet account. Follow the prompts Smartsheet presents for your selected plan. If you begin with the 30-day trial, you can evaluate the Business-plan experience without entering billing information for the trial; return to the plan-purchase flow when you are ready to pay.
- Review the order. Check the plan, paid Member count, billing term, currency, and total shown before entering payment details. Smartsheet offers billing in multiple currencies, including USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, and JPY, but a listed currency does not establish checkout availability or card acceptance in every country.
- Enter payment details. At Smartsheet’s Payment details screen, enter your Coinepay virtual card details where card payment is offered. Supply your genuine billing information. If you are buying for a business and have an applicable VAT or GST ID, Smartsheet provides a place to enter it on that screen.
- Complete any payment checks and confirm. If your payment provider requests an authentication step, follow the legitimate prompt rather than repeatedly submitting the checkout form. Confirm only after reviewing the final order, then check Smartsheet for confirmation and your Coinepay account for the transaction.
The exact sequence of Smartsheet’s live checkout screens may vary. If card payment is not offered for your account or purchase, do not assume another route will charge the same way. Ask Smartsheet billing which payment options apply to that order.
What to do if Smartsheet declines the card
A failed authorization does not, by itself, identify the cause. One reported Smartsheet checkout message is “Your credit card has failed authorization. Please double check the credit card information.” If you see that or another decline message, work through these checks without repeatedly retrying unchanged details:
- Insufficient balance or a higher-than-expected total: Compare your available funds with the complete checkout amount, not just an advertised per-Member monthly rate. A yearly term or several Members can change the amount due. Check the Coinepay app for your available balance and any relevant card settings.
- Billing address mismatch: Recheck the name, address, card number, expiry date, and CVV for typing mistakes. Enter your real billing details; do not substitute an address from another country to try to pass a payment check.
- Authentication or 3-D Secure issue: If an authentication challenge appears, complete it through the channel shown and return to checkout as directed. If the prompt fails, expires, or never reaches you, check your Coinepay account and contact support with the time and amount of the attempt. Do not assume every Smartsheet transaction will use the same verification step.
- Merchant payment or region check: Recheck Smartsheet’s listed card types and the payment options presented for your account. Ask Coinepay support whether your card meets the applicable requirements, and ask Smartsheet billing whether your location, order, and chosen payment method are eligible. Do not change your identity or location details to work around a restriction.
- Expired or suspended card: Smartsheet identifies these as commonly reported reasons for failed card payments. Check the card’s expiry and status in Coinepay and update the payment method if needed. If a payment fails on an existing subscription, address it promptly; Smartsheet says only a limited grace period applies.
If the problem remains, give support the exact error text, the attempted amount and currency, the approximate time, and whether you were buying a new plan or updating an existing one. Do not send your full card number or CVV in an ordinary support message.
Manage your payment method, receipts, and cancellation
In Smartsheet, go to Account → Plan & Billing Info → View Payment Details, then select Change to update a card or US bank account. Smartsheet says billing self-service requires the Account Owner for Pro or a System Admin for Business or Enterprise. Invoiced customers should work with their Account Executive rather than assume the in-app card controls apply to their invoices.
For card or bank-payment receipts, go to Account → Plan & Billing Info → View Receipts & History. If you are considering invoice payment for an annual Business or Enterprise plan, check eligibility and available methods with Smartsheet billing; those arrangements differ from a self-service card purchase.
If you no longer need the subscription, plan ahead rather than relying on a card change to stop renewal. Smartsheet says cancellation requests should be submitted at least 30 days before renewal and that canceled accounts do not qualify for full or prorated refunds. Pro and Business administrators can use Account → Plan & Billing Info → Cancel Account. Invoiced customers use Smartsheet’s cancellation-request process, while Enterprise customers contact Smartsheet. Review the applicable agreement for any exceptions to its general non-refundable-fees rule.
