Sketch is a design and prototyping platform billed through a Workspace subscription, with checkout handled by Stripe. If you want to keep your design spending separate from your everyday accounts, a Coinepay virtual card gives you an instant card number, expiry date and CVV you can enter straight into Sketch's billing page. This guide walks through what you need, how to set up and pay for a Sketch subscription, and how to troubleshoot a declined card.
Before you start
A few things to have ready so checkout goes smoothly:
- A verified Coinepay account. You must register and complete identity (KYC) verification before using card services. You can sign up at the Coinepay registration page and manage everything from the dashboard or the Coinepay app for iOS and Android.
- A funded virtual card. Create a card in the app and top it up so the balance covers the plan plus any applicable taxes and currency-conversion costs. Sketch's terms state subscription fees exclude applicable taxes, and bank or conversion fees may be your responsibility.
- Your real billing details. Use your genuine name and billing address exactly as they appear on your Coinepay account. Matching details help the payment clear authentication.
- A Sketch account with the right role. Only a Workspace Admin or Finance member can set up billing.
Note that Sketch accepts credit or debit cards only for direct Standard subscriptions and Mac-only licenses. It does not publish which specific card networks, prepaid cards or country-issued cards it accepts. If you want to confirm your Coinepay card meets a particular requirement before you buy, contact Coinepay support.
Sketch plans and prices
Sketch's pricing page lists Standard, Professional, Enterprise and Private Cloud subscriptions, plus a separate one-time Mac-only license and an eligibility-approved free Education Plan. The USD figures below were shown on Sketch's direct-purchase page at the time of writing (October 2026) and are billed yearly per Editor. Always check the official Sketch pricing page for the current amount in your region, since Sketch estimates your country to show relevant pricing and local or monthly-billed rates may differ.
| Plan | Price (yearly billing, Oct 2026) |
|---|---|
| Standard | $12 per Editor / month ($144 per Editor / year) |
| Professional | $24 per Editor / month ($288 per Editor / year) |
| Enterprise | $44 per Editor / month ($528 per Editor / year); contact Sketch to purchase |
| Private Cloud | Contact Sketch for a quote; a one-time setup fee applies |
| Mac-only license | $120 per seat, including one year of updates |
Enterprise and Private Cloud are purchased by talking to Sketch directly, and Enterprise customers can discuss other payment methods and annual invoice billing. A Coinepay virtual card is most relevant for the self-service Standard (and Professional) subscription and the Mac-only license, both processed through Stripe.
Step 1: Create your account and Workspace
On the Sketch website, create a Sketch account and a Workspace. The standard trial runs for 30 days without a payment card, and billing details are only needed to continue afterward. Enterprise and Private Cloud purchases do not include that trial. Sketch says it does not create an invoice until the trial ends, so adding your card early simply keeps your access uninterrupted.
Step 2: Open the billing settings
Sign in as a Workspace Admin or Finance member and select the Workspace you want to pay for. Then go to Settings → Billing → Set up a Subscription. Here you choose monthly or yearly billing. Yearly billing matches the per-Editor rates listed above; the monthly-billed Standard rate was not confirmed at the time of writing, so check the figure Sketch shows you before you confirm.
Step 3: Add your Coinepay virtual card
In the Coinepay app, open your virtual card to view its number, expiry date and CVV. In Sketch's billing form, enter:
- The 16-digit card number.
- The expiry date and CVV.
- Your billing name and address, matching your Coinepay account details.
Confirm the plan, the number of Editor seats and the billing cycle, then submit. Because Stripe processes the payment, you may be prompted to complete a 3-D Secure authentication step; approve it through your Coinepay app or the method Coinepay provides.
Buying the Mac-only license instead
If you want the one-time Mac-only license rather than a subscription, use Sketch's store. It first asks for the license owner's email, with an option to specify a different buyer, then continues to purchase. Enter your Coinepay card the same way at checkout.
Troubleshooting a declined card
Sketch documents several reasons a payment can fail: an expired card, incorrect details, insufficient funds, a transaction that requires authentication, or a decline for an unknown reason. Work through these checks:
Insufficient balance
Confirm your Coinepay card holds enough to cover the full charge plus any taxes and currency-conversion costs. Top up in the app and retry. For a yearly plan, remember the whole annual amount is charged at once.
Incorrect or expired card details
Re-check the card number, expiry date and CVV against the details shown in your Coinepay app. A single mistyped digit will cause a decline.
Billing address mismatch
Make sure the billing name and address in Sketch match the details registered to your Coinepay account. Mismatches are a common cause of silent declines.
3-D Secure / authentication
If you see a transaction that requires authentication, complete the verification prompt from Coinepay. Sketch advises that for a 3D-authentication error you contact your card issuer or try another credit card. With Coinepay, make sure app notifications are enabled so you can approve the step, and confirm the charge is allowed on your card.
Merchant region checks
Since July 15, 2026, Sketch no longer supports direct purchases or renewals by customers in India and directs those customers to partners. Sketch does not publish an exhaustive country-availability list, so if direct checkout is unavailable in your location, follow Sketch's on-page guidance. Always use your real location and identity details; do not attempt to disguise where you are.
If your card still will not go through after these checks, reach out to Coinepay support to confirm the card is active and suitable, and contact Sketch support for merchant-side issues.
Managing, cancelling and refunds
Sketch's current Terms of Service (Version October 6, 2026) state that subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled in billing settings. A Workspace Admin can cancel via Settings → Billing → Cancel Subscription; paid access continues to the end of the billing period, after which documents become read-only and remain downloadable for up to 90 days.
On refunds, Sketch states that monthly subscription charges are not refundable. The initial annual subscription purchase is fully refundable if requested within 30 days, but renewals and additional seats are not. For the Mac-only license, the initial purchase is fully refundable within 30 days while subsequent seats and renewals are not; refund requests require the specified invoice and purchaser/card-identification details, so keep your Coinepay card and payment records handy.
Tips for using a virtual card with Sketch
- Keep enough balance for the renewal date so an annual charge does not fail.
- Use the Coinepay dashboard to track the Sketch charge and keep a compliant record.
- Businesses can issue a dedicated Coinepay virtual card for software subscriptions and set a custom spending limit per card.
You can create and manage your card any time from the Coinepay dashboard or the mobile app, and questions about your card can go to the team on Telegram.
