Deel is a global HR, hiring and payroll platform used by businesses to onboard contractors and employees around the world. If you run a company that pays international contractors through Deel, you can fund invoices and subscriptions with a card. This guide explains what you need, how to add a Coinepay virtual card at checkout, and how to work through the most common reasons a card payment is declined.

Before you begin, note one important point from Deel's own funding documentation: Deel Payroll–US and US contractor invoices require ACH or bank wire, not card payment. Card funding is for the invoice types that accept it. Always check the payment method options shown for your specific invoice inside Deel.

What you need before you start

 • A registered Coinepay account with identity verification (KYC) completed. You can create an account and manage everything from the Coinepay dashboard or the mobile app (iOS / Google Play).
 • A Coinepay virtual card with its card number, expiry date and CVV, which are issued instantly in the app.
 • Enough available balance on the card to cover the invoice total plus Deel's card-funding fee (see below).
 • Your real billing details — name, address and company information — matching the records on your Coinepay account. Deel requires genuine business identity for entity verification.
 • A company email address: Deel requires the first registrant of a client account to use one.

Understand Deel's pricing and card fees

Deel groups its products under Hire, Manage, Pay, Equip and Bundle categories rather than a single five-tier subscription. At the time of writing (October 2026), the public pricing page lists figures such as Find talent at $14 per worker/month, Hire contractors at $49 per contractor/month, Contractor of Record at $325 per contractor/month, US PEO at $125 per employee/month and Employer of Record (EOR) at $599 per employee/month. Deel HR tiers are named Core, Advanced and Elite ($5, $19 and $29 per person/month on the HRIS page), and Deel Global Payroll starts at $29 per employee/month with a one-time $1,000 implementation fee per entity. These prices are shown in US dollars; totals in other currencies are not confirmed, so always check Deel's official pricing page for your region.

Card funding carries a fee. Deel's funding guide lists a 2.9% + $0.30 card-funding fee for US/EU-domiciled cards and 3.9% + $0.30 for cards domiciled elsewhere. Card funding settles in USD for US-issued cards, GBP for UK-issued cards, EUR for EU-issued cards, and USD for cards issued elsewhere. Make sure your Coinepay card balance covers both the invoice and this fee.

Deel's funding guide says it accepts "credit or debit cards" without naming specific card networks. Whether your particular Coinepay card is accepted for client checkout is something Deel determines at payment. If you are unsure, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card details before you rely on it for a large invoice.

Step 1: Create your Deel client account

 1. On deel.com, choose Sign Up → As a business.
 2. Register with your company email or Google, then confirm your email address.
 3. Enter your organization and legal-entity details. The first registrant must use a company email.
 4. Choose the products you need during setup, or add them later. If you select Deel Payroll, you may be prompted to schedule a sales call.
 5. Complete entity verification — this is required to unlock payments.

Step 2: Add your Coinepay virtual card as a payment method

Only Organization Admins can add or delete payment methods. You can add a card during a payment, or save it in advance:

 1. Open your Coinepay app and copy the virtual card number, expiry date and CVV. Have your billing address ready.
 2. In Deel, go to Organization Settings → Billing & Payments → Payment Methods and Automations.
 3. Add a new card and enter the card details and billing address exactly as they appear on your Coinepay account.
 4. Complete any verification prompt, including 3-D Secure confirmation if requested.

Step 3: Pay a Deel invoice with your card

 1. From the Deel homepage use the Pay action, or go to Finance → Pay.
 2. Select the invoices you want to pay.
 3. Review the total and confirm the correct billing entity.
 4. Choose your Coinepay card as the payment method, or change it if another method is selected.
 5. Confirm the payment. Complete any 3-D Secure step if your card prompts for one.

If the invoice type requires ACH or bank wire (for example US contractor invoices or Deel Payroll–US), the card option will not be available for it — that is expected behaviour, not an error.

Troubleshooting: common card-declined causes

Deel's terms name expired cards and insufficient funds as decline reasons, and its invoice-payment guide notes that a funding method can appear "on hold," "disabled," or "unavailable" after a failed attempt, listing insufficient funds, bank restrictions and rejected direct debit as causes. Work through these checks:

Insufficient balance

Confirm your Coinepay card has enough to cover the invoice plus the 2.9%/3.9% + $0.30 card-funding fee and any currency conversion. Top up in the Coinepay app and retry.

Billing address mismatch

Enter the billing address that matches your Coinepay card record exactly. A mismatch in postcode or country is a frequent cause of declines. Correct it in Deel's payment method form and try again.

3-D Secure not completed

If Deel triggers a 3-D Secure check, approve it promptly through the prompt or your Coinepay app. An unconfirmed or timed-out verification will stop the payment.

Expired or incorrect card details

Re-check the card number, expiry and CVV against the live details in your Coinepay app. If the card has expired, issue a new virtual card and add it as a fresh payment method.

Merchant region and currency checks

Deel settles card funding in a currency tied to where the card is issued and applies different fees for cards domiciled outside the US/EU. Some funding methods also depend on your location — for example, BRL, COP and MXN bank-transfer funding is listed only for COR/EOR clients with local entities. If a method is unavailable in your region, choose another supported option. Deel also prohibits access from embargoed regions including Cuba, Iran, Syria, North Korea, Crimea and the Luhansk and Donetsk regions; Coinepay likewise does not serve sanctioned persons or comprehensively sanctioned jurisdictions.

If it still fails

Wait a moment before retrying so a held method can reset, and avoid repeated rapid attempts. Verify the card inside Coinepay, then contact Coinepay support to confirm there are no blocks on your side. If the card checks out but Deel keeps declining, reach out to Deel support for the invoice-specific reason.

Cancellation and refunds

Deel's payment-plan terms ask you to give notice to [email protected] at least five days before the end of the next billing cycle; an EOR termination can also involve local notice or severance obligations. Payment-plan obligations cannot be cancelled once a billing cycle begins, and fees are generally non-refundable with no credit for a partly used period, though Deel may review refunds case by case. A contractor-payment refund is separate: Deel says to request it before the invoice due date and cannot issue one after the contractor has been paid.

Keep your card and spending organised

Because Coinepay lets you issue virtual cards with custom spending limits, you can dedicate one card to your Deel invoices and keep that spending separate from advertising, software or other subscriptions. You can monitor transactions anytime from the 24/7 Coinepay dashboard or the mobile app, and reach the team through support or Telegram if you need help.

FAQ

Can I pay all Deel invoices with a Coinepay virtual card?

No. Card funding works for invoice types that accept cards, but Deel requires ACH or bank wire for Deel Payroll–US and US contractor invoices. Check the payment options shown for your specific invoice inside Deel.

Does Deel charge a fee for paying by card?

Yes. Deel's funding guide lists a card-funding fee of 2.9% + $0.30 for US/EU-domiciled cards and 3.9% + $0.30 for cards domiciled elsewhere. Make sure your Coinepay balance covers the invoice plus this fee.

Why was my Coinepay card declined on Deel?

Common causes include insufficient balance (remember the funding fee), a billing address that doesn't match your card record, an incomplete 3-D Secure step, expired card details, or a region/currency restriction. Fix the detail and retry, then contact Coinepay support if it persists.

Where do I add or change my card in Deel?

Go to Organization Settings → Billing & Payments → Payment Methods and Automations, or add a card during a payment. Only Organization Admins can add or delete payment methods.

Will my Coinepay card definitely be accepted by Deel?

Deel's guide says it accepts credit or debit cards but does not name specific networks, and it decides at checkout. If you're unsure your card qualifies, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card details before relying on it for a large invoice.
