Backblaze offers two different services you can pay for: Computer Backup for individual computers and B2 Cloud Storage for stored data and applications. This guide explains how to prepare a Coinepay virtual card, choose the right Backblaze billing path, and handle a payment that does not go through. Card acceptance depends on Backblaze’s checkout and payment checks, so review the amount and billing details before confirming.
Choose the Backblaze service you need
Backblaze’s Computer Backup plans are called Personal Backup, Business Backup, and Enterprise Control. Personal Backup and Business Backup are priced per computer; Enterprise Control requires a customized quote. Backblaze offers a 15-day Computer Backup trial without a card, which lets you set up the account and client before paying.
At the time of writing (October 2026), Backblaze displayed Personal Backup at $9 monthly, $99 yearly, or $189 for two years per computer, and Business Backup at $99 yearly per computer. These are published US-dollar prices, not a promise about your checkout total. Taxes may affect the amount due. Check Backblaze’s official pricing page and your checkout summary for current terms.
Backblaze B2 is a separate, pay-as-you-go cloud-storage service billed monthly according to usage. An account can be created without a card for its first 10 GB of storage. At the time of writing (October 2026), its published starting storage rate was $6.95 per TB per month; check Backblaze’s official B2 pricing page for current usage charges before adding a payment method. B2 Reserve involves annual committed capacity starting at 20 TB, while Backblaze B2 Overdrive involves a multi-petabyte commitment. B2 Neo is a white-label offering for neocloud operators. These are not interchangeable with a Personal Backup subscription; Reserve and Neo require a quote rather than a standard posted checkout price.
Prepare your Coinepay card and billing details
- Set up Coinepay. Register for Coinepay and complete identity verification before using its card services. Card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions.
- Get your card details. Coinepay issues a virtual card with a card number, expiry date, and CVV. Find these in the Coinepay app or self-service dashboard when you are ready to pay.
- Check the funds available. Allow for the full amount shown by Backblaze, including any applicable tax. If you expect recurring Computer Backup charges or variable B2 usage charges, check your available funds again before future billing dates.
- Use accurate information. Have your real name and billing details ready. Enter the address associated with your payment details rather than an invented address or one chosen to make your account appear to be in another region.
Check the Coinepay app or contact Coinepay support if you need to confirm a card-specific requirement before buying. Backblaze documents credit-card billing, but whether its checkout will accept a particular virtual card can only be established through its applicable payment process.
Sign up and pay for Personal Backup
- Create your Backblaze account. Start from Backblaze’s official Personal Backup page. Provide your email address, verify it, set a password, and choose the data region offered during setup.
- Install the Computer Backup client. Backblaze allows a 15-day trial without entering a card. Confirm that the account and backup setup suit your needs before purchasing a license.
- Choose your billing term. When you are ready to subscribe, review the Personal Backup options displayed by Backblaze. Check the number of computers, billing term, taxes, and total shown at checkout rather than relying on an earlier advertised price.
- Enter your Coinepay virtual card. Use its card number, expiry date, and CVV in Backblaze’s payment form, along with your real billing details. Complete any authentication requested during checkout, then wait for Backblaze to confirm the purchase.
- Verify billing in your account. In Backblaze’s web console, open the upper-right user menu → Billing → relevant service tab to review billing information and transactions. Keep the confirmation and any invoice for your records.
To license another Computer Backup computer later, Backblaze’s documented path is Computer Backup → Overview → Back up another computer. Choose the number of licenses and select Buy Backblaze. Backblaze charges the payment method already on the account, so check it before completing that purchase.
Pay for Business Backup or Backblaze B2
For a Backblaze Business Group, go to Business Groups → Group Management → Buy to enter the licenses, plan, and payment details. To change how a Group is billed later, edit that Group’s Payment field. Backblaze also documents ACH bank payments for Groups, subject to bank-account verification; a Coinepay virtual card is for the card-payment path, not the ACH path.
For B2 pay-as-you-go, create a B2 account, review its pricing and expected usage, then add payment details when needed for paid storage. B2 billing is based on usage rather than a fixed Personal Backup subscription. Backblaze documents credit-card or invoice billing for B2 pay-as-you-go, while B2 Reserve uses invoice billing. If you are considering a committed-capacity offering, follow Backblaze’s quote and billing process instead of assuming there is a standard card checkout.
On an individual Backblaze account, find billing settings through the upper-right user menu → Billing → service tab. Use Update Payment Method there when you need to change the card. Check the appropriate service tab: a Computer Backup license and B2 storage have different billing arrangements.
What to do if Backblaze declines the card
- Insufficient available funds: Compare the funds available in Coinepay with Backblaze’s actual checkout total, including taxes. For a renewal or B2 bill, check the current amount rather than assuming it matches the initial purchase. Add funds if needed, then retry only after confirming the available amount.
- Billing-address mismatch: Recheck the name and billing address entered at Backblaze against your real payment details. Correct typos; do not substitute an address in another country to try to pass a check.
- 3-D Secure or another authentication step: If checkout asks you to authenticate, follow the on-screen instructions and check for any prompt associated with your card. If no prompt appears, it expires, or the payment fails after authentication, contact Coinepay support with the time and amount of the attempt. You can also ask Backblaze support to review the checkout failure. Do not assume authentication succeeded just because you completed a prompt.
- Merchant region or payment checks: Confirm that your account country and billing details are accurate and that Backblaze offers the service in your location. Backblaze’s international-customer guidance lists countries it does not serve; check its current guidance rather than trying to bypass a regional restriction. If a legitimate payment still fails, ask Backblaze what requirement applies and ask Coinepay support whether your card meets it before retrying.
Some users have reported seeing “Internal Error. Please contact Customer Support” after a payment or recurring-payment authentication attempt. That message alone does not identify the cause. Record the exact message, time, amount, and whether Backblaze shows an order or invoice. Check your account’s Billing area before making another attempt, and share the details with the relevant support team without sending anyone your full card number or CVV.
Manage renewals and cancellation
Computer Backup renews automatically. If you want to stop it, follow Backblaze’s account cancellation instructions: uninstalling the client alone does not cancel billing. Backblaze says cancellation requires deleting all backups and licenses, and deleting a backup immediately and irreversibly removes its stored data. Make sure you have any files you need before taking that step.
Backblaze states that monthly Computer Backup plans are not refundable. For a one- or two-year plan, you may request a full refund within 30 days of subscribing; its policy says charge disputes must be raised within 45 days of the charge. Check the current policy for your purchase. Do not assume these Computer Backup terms apply to B2 usage or a committed-capacity contract.
If you want to disable only B2 while keeping Computer Backup, Backblaze’s documented process starts by deleting B2 files, buckets, non-master application keys, and snapshots. You can then clear B2 Cloud Storage under My Settings → Enabled Products. Review what will be deleted before proceeding.

FAQ
Can I try Backblaze Personal Backup before adding my Coinepay card?
Yes. Backblaze offers a 15-day Computer Backup trial that does not require a card.
Where can I update my card for Backblaze?
For an individual account, open the upper-right user menu in Backblaze’s web console, then Billing, the relevant service tab, and Update Payment Method. Business Groups use the Group’s Payment field.
Why did my Coinepay card payment fail after authentication?
Authentication alone does not confirm a charge. Check Backblaze Billing for a transaction, record the exact error and time, and contact Backblaze and Coinepay support if the payment did not complete.
Will uninstalling Backblaze stop my subscription?
No. Backblaze says Computer Backup cancellation requires deleting all backups and licenses. Back up anything you need elsewhere first, because deleting a backup permanently removes its stored data.
