You can use a Coinepay virtual card to enter card details when buying a Dropbox team subscription, subject to Dropbox’s checkout checks. This guide covers choosing a plan, completing checkout, finding your billing settings, and working through a failed payment without repeatedly submitting the same details.
Choose the Dropbox plan you need
Dropbox’s public business comparison lists Dropbox Standard, Dropbox Advanced, and Dropbox Enterprise. Standard starts with 3 TB and permits one or more users. Advanced starts with 15 TB and requires at least three licenses. Enterprise has customized users, storage, and pricing; its purchase path goes through Dropbox sales rather than the Standard or Advanced self-service checkout.
At the time of writing (October 2026), Dropbox displayed US-dollar yearly-billing prices of $15 per user per month for Standard and $24 per user per month for Advanced. Its monthly-billing page displayed US$18 and US$30 per user per month, respectively. These are not promises of your checkout total: billing country, billing frequency, license count, and tax can affect what you pay. Check Dropbox’s official business plans page and the Order summary before confirming.
If you are modifying an existing team, check its actual plan name in Dropbox before assuming a new-plan comparison applies. Some earlier Standard purchasers have Standard Classic, which has a 5 TB shared allowance and a three-member minimum, rather than the newer Standard plan. Dropbox also says the new Standard plan is unavailable in Brazil and Japan, where teams remain on Standard Classic.
Get ready to pay with Coinepay
- Create and verify your Coinepay account. Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. Card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions.
- Have your card details available. Coinepay issues a virtual card with a card number, expiry date, and CVV. Find them in the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app when you are ready to enter payment details.
- Check available funds. Allow for the full amount shown at Dropbox checkout, including the selected number of licenses and any applicable tax. Check your Coinepay account for the balance and any applicable card conditions before paying.
- Use genuine billing information. Enter your real name and billing address. The address you submit to Dropbox should match the billing details associated with your payment method; do not use an invented address or a different country to seek another price.
- Choose an eligible Dropbox purchase path. Standard and Advanced show Buy now and a free-trial option on Dropbox’s business comparison. If you need Enterprise, speak with Dropbox sales about its quote and payment process.
Some Coinepay services are not available in every jurisdiction. If you are unsure whether a card service is available to you or whether your card can meet a checkout requirement, contact Coinepay support before you buy.
How to sign up and pay for Dropbox Business
- Open Dropbox’s official business plans page. Compare Standard and Advanced by team size, storage, and the features your team needs. Select the available billing frequency and review how the displayed price is expressed.
- Select Buy now. Follow Dropbox’s prompts to create an account or sign in, then provide the team and purchaser information requested at checkout. Use the identity and business details that actually belong to you.
- Enter the correct billing location. Dropbox’s direct-purchase flow asks for a billing country and postcode. Check the updated price and estimated tax under Order summary before entering payment details. Dropbox says billing currency is selected from the original billing address; changing later to an address with a different currency requires canceling and resubscribing.
- Enter your Coinepay virtual card details. Copy the card number, expiry date, and CVV carefully into Dropbox’s card-payment fields. Enter the real billing details associated with the payment method. Review the license count, billing frequency, tax, and amount due.
- Complete any payment verification. If checkout requests an additional authentication step, follow the instructions presented by the payment flow. Keep the checkout open until you receive a clear result; do not assume a payment succeeded because a form briefly appeared to load.
- Confirm the purchase. Once Dropbox confirms the subscription, retain its confirmation and check the team’s billing records. An authorized admin can find invoices and receipts at Admin console → Billing → Payment history.
If you choose a trial instead, Dropbox’s documented trial flow begins with Try free at its plans page. You enter an email address, complete sign-up and billing information, and select Done. Dropbox sends the trial length and terms by email. Review that message: if you do not cancel before the trial ends, Dropbox says it will charge the billing method supplied at sign-up.
Update a card or check a team payment
To change an existing team’s payment method, sign in as an authorized admin and go to Admin console → Billing → Products → Payment method → Update → Save changes. Verify that the saved method and subsequent payment status are what you intended. For invoices and receipts, use Billing → Payment history.
Dropbox documents cards, PayPal, and direct debit among team billing methods, with manual invoicing for some teams. If your team is billed by manual invoice, contact Dropbox support or your account representative about changing billing information rather than assuming the card-update screen applies. In Germany, Dropbox also documents a team Direct Debit checkout tab for SEPA direct debit; that is a separate option, not a step in paying by virtual card.
What to do if Dropbox declines the card
A decline does not, by itself, identify the cause. Dropbox lists incorrect card numbers or billing addresses, expired cards used for renewals, and card-processing errors among possible payment problems. Check the exact message and work through these points:
- Insufficient available balance: Compare your available funds with Dropbox’s complete Order summary, including tax, billing frequency, and all selected licenses. If the balance is too low, add funds using an available Coinepay option, then retry only after the updated balance is visible.
- Card details or billing address mismatch: Recheck every digit, the expiry date, CVV, name, postcode, and billing country. Correct genuine mistakes; do not change your address to bypass a country or payment check.
- Additional authentication, including 3-D Secure: If an authentication prompt appears, complete it through the presented flow. If it fails or never completes, check the card activity in Coinepay and contact support with the time and amount of the attempted payment. Do not assume every decline is an authentication failure.
- Merchant or regional checks: Make sure you selected a plan offered for your actual location and entered your real billing country. Dropbox’s plan availability and checkout options can differ by location. Contact Dropbox about a checkout restriction, and contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets a stated card requirement before retrying.
- Expired or processing-error card: For a renewal, check whether the saved card has expired and update it in the admin console if needed. If the information is correct but payment still fails, contact Coinepay support and Dropbox billing support with the error and transaction time.
One user reported seeing “The payment has been refused. Contact your bank to enable the card for online use and/or re-enter the correct card details again.” in a Dropbox checkout. That wording is a reported example, not a diagnosis: use it as a cue to check your details and ask support about the specific attempt. If the billing page is blank rather than showing a decline, Dropbox suggests trying another browser or clearing its cache.
Resolve renewal problems promptly. Dropbox says repeated failed team payments can prevent renewal and temporarily lock the team; its files remain safe while the payment method is updated or the team is disbanded. For teams in India, Dropbox also warns that recurring renewals may fail under local requirements and notes UPI as a checkout option. Follow the legitimate options shown for your location rather than trying to route around payment checks.
Know what happens if you cancel
An authorized admin can cancel a paid team plan at Admin console → Billing → Cancel plan and complete the confirmation steps. Dropbox says cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; the account then moves to Basic and the team enters a locked state. Team subscription and license fees are generally nonrefundable except where applicable law or the agreement requires otherwise, so review the terms before purchasing.
A trial has a different control: Admin console → Billing → Cancel trial. Cancel before its end if you do not want the supplied payment method charged. Dropbox’s documented trial-cancellation flow disbands the team, so review its prompts and your team’s needs before confirming.
