Coinepay Global Remittance supports transfers to Georgia. You can set up a transfer in the Coinepay app or self-service dashboard, review the exchange rate and fees before confirming, and track its status afterward. This guide explains what to ask your recipient for and how to choose an available payout method.
What you need before sending
Start with a Coinepay account and complete identity verification. Ask your recipient for their full legal name exactly as it appears on their bank account or identity document. You will also need the details for the payout method you choose. Use the recipient’s real information and check it with them directly rather than copying details from an old transfer.
Georgia’s local currency is the Georgian lari (GEL). When setting up your transfer, choose Georgia as the destination and select from the sending and receiving currencies offered in the app. Confirm with your recipient which currency their account or pickup arrangement can receive. The amount they receive may depend on the currency and payout option you select; review the transfer summary rather than assuming it will arrive in GEL.
Choose a payout method for Georgia
Coinepay supports bank deposit, mobile wallet and cash pickup as remittance payout methods. The options displayed for your transfer can depend on its sending location, receiving currency and recipient details. Check the options shown after selecting Georgia; do not assume a particular bank, wallet or pickup location is available until it appears in the transfer flow.
Bank deposit
For a deposit to an eligible Georgian bank account, ask for the recipient’s full legal name and the account details supplied by their bank. Georgian accounts use a 22-character IBAN: it begins with GE, followed by two check digits, a two-letter bank code and a 16-digit account identifier. Enter the complete IBAN if the form requests it. Do not use only the embedded bank code in place of the account number.
Some international bank-transfer routes also ask for the receiving bank’s SWIFT/BIC, name or address. For example, the published SWIFT/BIC for Bank of Georgia is BAGAGE22, and TBC Bank’s is TBCBGE22. These are examples, not codes to select based on a bank’s name alone: obtain the correct details from your recipient and have them verify the code against their own bank instructions. If the transfer form requests an additional account or bank detail, ask the recipient’s bank what belongs in that field rather than guessing.
Ask the recipient to check that the name and IBAN match their bank records. A missing character or name mismatch can prevent a deposit or cause the receiving bank to return it. If the recipient expects GEL, they should also confirm that their account can receive the currency selected in your transfer.
Mobile wallet
If a mobile-wallet payout appears for your Georgia transfer, select the wallet offered in the Coinepay flow and enter the recipient details it requests, such as the registered name and wallet identifier or mobile number. Ask the recipient to confirm that the wallet is active and that its registered details match what they give you.
Do not treat a bank’s mobile app as a separate wallet payout. For example, TBC Bank describes a way to collect supported remittances through its internet or mobile bank into a selected bank account; that is account collection, not confirmation of a TBC mobile-wallet option. Specific wallet partners for a Georgia-bound Coinepay transfer should be checked in the app. If the wallet your recipient uses is not listed, choose another available payout method instead of entering its details under a different wallet.
Cash pickup
If cash pickup is offered for your transfer, check the participating pickup options shown during setup. Enter the recipient’s full legal name as it appears on their government-issued photo ID and share the collection instructions and transfer reference you receive after sending. The recipient should check the displayed pickup location’s instructions before visiting, including what ID and reference information to bring. Cash-pickup providers commonly require a government-issued photo ID and a transfer control or reference number; follow the requirements shown for your particular transfer.
A recipient should not assume that every pickup location handles every transfer or currency. Check the available location and collection details in the transfer flow, and make sure the recipient can present the required documents in their own name.
How to send money to Georgia
- Sign in and start a transfer. Use the Coinepay mobile app or 24/7 self-service dashboard. If you are new to Coinepay, register and complete identity verification first.
- Select Georgia and the currencies. Choose Georgia as the destination, enter the amount, and select from the available sending and receiving currencies. Check whether the recipient expects Georgian lari or another offered currency.
- Choose the payout method. Select an available bank deposit, mobile wallet or cash-pickup option. Enter the recipient’s full legal name and the specific account, wallet or collection details requested on screen.
- Review before confirming. Check the recipient’s name, payout details, destination, currencies and amount. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm. Read the full summary so you know what you are authorizing.
- Confirm and track. Confirm the transfer only when the details are correct. Use transfer status tracking in the app or dashboard, and share any necessary collection information with the recipient through a secure channel.
What the recipient may need to do
For bank deposit, the recipient should confirm their account details with their bank and watch the account chosen for the transfer. Their bank may ask for information about an incoming payment before crediting it. For a wallet payout, they should check the wallet account named in the transfer. For cash pickup, they should wait for the appropriate collection status and bring the identification and reference required by the listed location.
Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and applicable local regulations. Coinepay or another institution handling the payment may request documents explaining its purpose or the source of funds. Georgian financial institutions also apply customer-due-diligence and transfer-information requirements. Give accurate information if asked, and allow the recipient to respond to any legitimate request from their bank or payout provider. The recipient’s tax or reporting obligations depend on what the money represents and their circumstances; receiving a foreign transfer does not, by itself, establish a single rule for every recipient.
Troubleshooting a transfer to Georgia
The recipient details are wrong
If you notice a wrong name, IBAN, SWIFT/BIC or wallet detail after confirming, check the transfer status and contact Coinepay support promptly. Explain which field is wrong and have the recipient verify the correct information. Do not assume a confirmed transfer can be edited or stopped; support can advise what actions remain available at its current stage.
The transfer is under review
A request for identity, purpose-of-payment or source-of-funds information does not necessarily mean the transfer has failed. Follow the instructions in your account and provide genuine, complete documents. Sanctions screening applies to customers and counterparties, and Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions. Do not submit a replacement transfer to bypass a review.
The recipient has not received the money
First check status tracking, then confirm that the recipient is checking the correct bank account, wallet or pickup instructions. Funding, compliance checks, weekends or public holidays, intermediary processing and the receiving institution’s own procedures can affect progress. If the status does not explain the issue, contact support with the transfer reference; the recipient may also need to ask their bank or payout provider whether it needs further information.
The transfer was returned
A receiving bank may reject a payment because the account details are incorrect or the recipient’s name does not match its records. Check the status and ask Coinepay support for the reason and next steps. Before sending again, have the recipient confirm the complete IBAN, their legal name and any bank details required by the route. Review the new transfer’s exchange rate, fees and payout information before confirming it.
