Clipchamp is Microsoft's browser-based video editor, and its paid features unlock higher-quality exports, premium stock and other creator tools. If you want to pay for Clipchamp Premium (or the Microsoft 365 plan that now carries those features) with a Coinepay virtual card, this guide walks you through what you need, how checkout works, and what to do if your card is declined.
Understand which plan you are actually buying
Before you pay, it helps to know what Microsoft offers today, because the purchase path has changed. According to Microsoft's current support material:
- Free vs Premium: Clipchamp lists a Free tier and a Premium feature tier. The Free tier needs no payment and allows watermark-free exports up to 1080p.
- Personal buyers are directed to Microsoft 365: New buyers are pointed toward Microsoft 365 Personal, Microsoft 365 Family, or Microsoft 365 Premium for qualifying Clipchamp features. A standalone Clipchamp Premium subscription still exists for people who already have one to manage.
- Work/school tiers: Clipchamp Standard and Clipchamp Premium are separate business tiers. The storefront also names Clipchamp Editor Standard and Clipchamp Editor Premium as annual, auto-renewing per-user subscriptions.
Note that the older Creator, Business and Business Platinum personal plans were discontinued in November 2022, so ignore any old guide that lists them.
Prices vary by region and currency. As an illustration, at the time of writing (October 2026) Microsoft's US storefront showed Microsoft 365 Personal at US$9.99/month or US$99.99/year and Microsoft 365 Premium at US$19.99/month or US$199.99/year, while the US business page listed Clipchamp Editor Standard at US$3/user/month and Clipchamp Editor Premium at US$7/user/month billed yearly. These change often, so always confirm the current figure for your country on Microsoft's official pricing and plan-comparison pages before you confirm.
What you need before checkout
- A verified Coinepay account. Register at Coinepay and complete identity verification (KYC) first; card services are only available after KYC. You can manage everything from the dashboard or the Coinepay app for iOS and Android.
- Your Coinepay virtual card details. When you create a card you get the card number, expiry date and CVV instantly—keep them handy for the payment form.
- Enough balance on the card to cover the plan you chose, including any applicable tax, plus a little headroom for currency conversion.
- Your real billing details. Use your genuine name and billing address exactly as they appear on your Coinepay account. Mismatched details are a common cause of declines.
- The Microsoft account tied to your Clipchamp login. Check first whether it already has qualifying Microsoft 365 benefits so you don't pay twice.
Step-by-step: subscribe and pay
- Create your virtual card in Coinepay. Open the app or dashboard, issue a card, and top it up so the available balance comfortably covers the subscription.
- Sign in with the right Microsoft account. Use the personal Microsoft account associated with your Clipchamp account. Confirm whether it already includes Microsoft 365 benefits before buying anything new.
- Choose a plan and billing period. Select your plan on Microsoft's plan-comparison page, or use the Buy Microsoft 365 option where it appears in Clipchamp. Pick monthly or yearly billing.
- Enter your billing information. Type the billing address that matches your Coinepay account records.
- Add the Coinepay card as a payment method. Microsoft Store documents credit cards, debit cards, PayPal and other options where available, with the exact choices depending on your region. Enter your Coinepay card number, expiry and CVV. (If you use PayPal instead, Microsoft requires the PayPal account to have a credit card or confirmed bank account as its funding source.)
- Complete any 3-D Secure step. You may be asked to confirm the payment through an additional verification prompt. Allow pop-ups so the confirmation window is not blocked.
- Review the renewal terms and confirm. Check the price, billing period and auto-renewal note, then place the order.
- Save your receipt. For Microsoft-billed purchases, find invoices under Order history → Order details → Print.
Later, to change the card on file for a Microsoft-billed subscription, go to Services & subscriptions → Manage → Change how you pay, or use Payment options to add, edit or remove a card.
If your card is declined: common causes and fixes
One Clipchamp user reported that an upgrade attempt returned an error saying the card details were incorrect—but a single report like that does not pin down the real cause. Microsoft's own troubleshooting pages list the checks below. Work through them in order.
| Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|
| Insufficient balance | Confirm the card holds enough to cover the full charge plus tax and any conversion. Top up in the Coinepay app and retry. |
| Billing address mismatch | Make sure the address at Microsoft checkout matches the records held for your Coinepay card exactly. Even small differences can trigger a decline. |
| Card details entered wrong | Re-check the number, expiry and CVV. Re-copy them from the Coinepay app rather than typing from memory. |
| 3-D Secure / confirmation pop-up blocked | Microsoft lists a blocked payment-confirmation pop-up as a cause. Enable pop-ups, disable interfering extensions, and complete the verification prompt. |
| Provider blocked the transaction | Check your Coinepay app for any decline notice or control that might stop the charge, then retry. |
| Expired card or account issue | Microsoft also flags an expired card, an overdue subscription payment, or a suspended account. Resolve these, or issue a fresh Coinepay card if the old one has expired. |
| Region check / mismatch | Subscription availability and accepted payment methods vary by region. Microsoft advises against changing your account region just to get around a region-mismatch error, and notes an existing subscription or account balance can complicate region changes. Use your real location. |
Microsoft has not published a complete, network-by-network acceptance list for Clipchamp/Microsoft 365 checkout, and whether any specific merchant accepts a given card can depend on local rules. If you want to confirm your Coinepay card is suitable before you buy, contact Coinepay support or reach the team on Telegram. Never use a fake address, a generated identity or a VPN to get around a regional or payment check.
Cancellation and refunds
A Microsoft-billed standalone Clipchamp Premium subscription is cancelled at Services & subscriptions → Manage → Cancel. Turning off recurring billing instead stops renewal while keeping your benefits until the displayed expiry date. Starting Microsoft 365 does not automatically cancel an existing standalone Clipchamp Premium subscription, and cancelling Microsoft 365 affects the whole plan rather than just Clipchamp.
For purchases bought directly from Microsoft, cancellation may qualify for a refund within 30 days of initial purchase or before the first recurring billing date, whichever is sooner; Microsoft also describes a one-time-per-account, per-product right to refund the most recent recurring charge when cancelled within 30 days of that payment. Prorated refund rules differ by region and plan type—check Microsoft's current refund policy for your location. If Apple or Google Play billed your subscription, take cancellations and refunds to that provider instead.
One more change to keep in mind: Clipchamp's iOS app stopped being supported on 9 June 2026. Microsoft says standalone Premium subscribers keep their subscription features and up to 5 GB of OneDrive storage for video projects.
Keep your Coinepay card ready
The smoothest path is to issue the Coinepay virtual card, fund it, and confirm your billing details before you start Microsoft checkout. For anything specific to your Coinepay card—balance, limits, supported currencies or whether a particular charge went through—check the Coinepay app or reach out to support.
