Grasshopper is a business phone service, not Grasshopper Bank. If you are setting up a Grasshopper phone number, you can prepare a Coinepay virtual card and enter its details during Grasshopper’s paid checkout, subject to Grasshopper accepting the card. This guide covers the plans, sign-up steps, billing checks and practical ways to investigate a declined payment.

What you need before subscribing

  • A Grasshopper plan and number choice. Decide how many users, phone numbers and extensions your business needs before starting checkout.
  • A Coinepay account. Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification (KYC) before using card services. You can manage your account through the 24/7 self-service dashboard or the Coinepay mobile app for iOS and Android.
  • Your virtual card details and sufficient available funds. Coinepay issues a card number, expiry date and CVV instantly. Check the app for your available balance and any applicable card settings before paying.
  • Accurate account and billing information. Use your real identity and your genuine billing details. Make sure the information you submit to Grasshopper matches the details associated with your payment method.

Confirm that Grasshopper offers the service and number you want for your location. Its published bundled unlimited minutes cover the continental US and Canada; calls to Alaska, Hawaii and international destinations have separate per-minute rates. Grasshopper says international calling becomes available only after more than 60 days as a customer. A virtual card does not change those service conditions or make an ineligible location eligible.

Choose the right Grasshopper plan

Grasshopper lists three plans. True Solo includes one user, one number and one extension. Solo Plus includes unlimited users, one number and three extensions. Small Business includes unlimited users, four numbers and unlimited extensions. Check the official Grasshopper pricing page for the current features and the price displayed for your purchase.

At the time of writing (October 2026), Grasshopper’s published annual prices were $168 per year for True Solo, $300 per year for Solo Plus and $660 per year for Small Business, paid up front. These are published US-dollar figures, not a promise of your checkout total. Grasshopper also lists additional numbers at $9 per month each, a one-time $19.50 business-texting registration charge and a $1.50 monthly messaging fee; sales tax may apply. Review the actual order summary for the amount due now and any recurring charges before submitting payment.

Grasshopper advertises a seven-day trial that does not require a credit card. If you want to evaluate the service first, check the trial terms on Grasshopper’s official site. You do not need to enter Coinepay card details to start a trial advertised as card-free; a later paid subscription may require payment details.

How to sign up and pay with your Coinepay card

  1. Prepare your card. Sign in to your Coinepay dashboard or app, complete KYC if you have not already, and obtain your virtual card number, expiry date and CVV. Check that your available funds cover the charge shown at checkout, including any applicable extras and tax.
  2. Go to Grasshopper’s official site. Start its paid sign-up flow. Grasshopper labels the stages Pick a Plan → Pick a Number → Checkout.
  3. Pick a Plan. Compare True Solo, Solo Plus and Small Business against the users, numbers and extensions you need. Select the billing term shown for your location and read the amount due before continuing.
  4. Pick a Number. Follow Grasshopper’s prompts to choose an available business number. Check that its number options and calling coverage suit your intended use.
  5. Review Checkout. Enter your real contact and billing information in the fields Grasshopper displays. Inspect the plan, number, billing term, optional charges and final total. The exact checkout fields can change, so follow the labels on the page rather than assuming a particular form layout.
  6. Enter the virtual card details if an appropriate card-payment option is offered. Copy the number, expiry date and CVV from Coinepay. Enter the cardholder and billing details accurately. If a payment authentication request appears, complete it through the channel indicated by the payment flow.
  7. Confirm only after checking the terms. Submit payment once the total and renewal terms are clear. Keep Grasshopper’s confirmation and check your Coinepay transaction activity. If the page does not confirm the order, verify whether a charge or account was created before trying again.

Card acceptance cannot be assumed. Grasshopper’s Alaska tariff describes charging a customer’s credit card when payment is due. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets this requirement before you buy. If Grasshopper’s checkout states a further card-type or location restriction, follow that requirement and ask Grasshopper about eligible payment options rather than repeatedly submitting the same card.

If Grasshopper declines your card

A decline does not identify its cause on its own. Start with any message Grasshopper displays, then compare the attempted charge with your Coinepay activity. Avoid multiple rapid retries while you investigate.

Insufficient available funds

Annual plans are charged up front, so the balance needs to cover the full annual amount—not just its monthly equivalent. Allow for any number add-ons, messaging charges or applicable tax shown in the order summary. Check your available funds in Coinepay and follow the app’s funding options if you need to add money. If funds appear sufficient but payment still fails, contact Coinepay support with the attempted amount and time.

Billing address or card-detail mismatch

Recheck the card number, expiry date and CVV against the Coinepay app. Then compare the name, address and postal details you entered at Grasshopper checkout with your genuine billing information. Correct typos; do not use an invented address or someone else’s identity to force a match. If you are unsure which details should be used, ask Coinepay support before another attempt.

3-D Secure or another authentication step

If checkout asks you to approve a payment, follow the prompt and complete it promptly. A closed browser tab, expired prompt or interrupted connection may prevent completion. If you never receive an expected request, check the Coinepay app for transaction activity and contact support with the time of the attempt. Do not assume that every Grasshopper payment will use the same authentication flow.

Merchant location or card-type checks

Grasshopper may apply its own eligibility and payment checks. Check the requirements shown during sign-up and confirm that your real business location and chosen service are eligible. In particular, do not assume the Coinepay card satisfies the credit-card wording in Grasshopper’s Alaska tariff; ask Coinepay support to confirm before purchasing. If Grasshopper rejects the payment based on its requirements, ask Grasshopper what payment methods it accepts for your account.

If a payment page produces a general error rather than a clear decline, note the exact wording and whether an account or charge was created. Share that information with Grasshopper support for a checkout issue, or with Coinepay support if your transaction activity shows a card attempt. Do not interpret an unexplained page error as proof that the card was declined.

Manage renewals and future card payments

Grasshopper identifies its customer portal as the place to access an existing account. Sign in there to review the billing options available to you, and contact Grasshopper support if you cannot find a way to update a payment method, view a charge or give notice of non-renewal. Keep your Coinepay card details and available funds ready for any payment due under your chosen billing term.

Read the terms before relying on cancellation or a refund. GoTo’s terms say subscriptions auto-renew unless notice of non-renewal is given at least 30 days before the current term ends; Grasshopper’s Alaska tariff also calls for 30 days’ notice and says termination takes effect at term-end. GoTo’s terms generally treat payments as final and non-refundable, subject to stated exceptions. Check the terms applicable to your account and request any change early enough to meet the deadline.

FAQ

Do I need a Coinepay card to start Grasshopper’s trial?

Grasshopper advertises a seven-day trial that does not require a credit card. Check its current trial terms before signing up.

Can I pay the annual Grasshopper price month by month?

No. Grasshopper’s published annual prices are paid up front; the monthly equivalent is only a comparison figure. Review the billing term and total at checkout.

What should I do if Grasshopper declines my virtual card?

Check available funds, card details, genuine billing information and any authentication prompt. Then contact Coinepay support about the card attempt or Grasshopper about its checkout requirements.

Will a Coinepay virtual card meet Grasshopper’s card requirements?

Do not assume so. Grasshopper’s Alaska tariff refers to charging a credit card. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets the relevant requirement before buying.

How far ahead should I request non-renewal?

GoTo’s terms require notice at least 30 days before the current subscription term ends. Check the terms for your account and contact Grasshopper early.
