Coinepay supports cross-border transfers from Canada to China. To get started, you need a verified Coinepay account and accurate details for the person receiving the money. This guide explains how to prepare a bank, mobile-wallet or cash-pickup payout, review the exchange rate and fees before confirming, and track what happens next.

What you need before sending

Register for Coinepay and complete identity verification before starting a transfer. You can manage transfers in the Coinepay app or its 24/7 self-service dashboard. Have your recipient’s full legal name ready, exactly as it appears on the bank account, wallet registration or identification document they will use to collect the money.

China’s local currency is the renminbi, also called RMB; its currency code is CNY. When setting up the transfer, check the destination and currency choices shown in Coinepay. Ask the recipient how they can receive the payment before selecting a payout method. The details required depend on that method and the route available for your transfer.

  • For bank deposit: Ask for the recipient’s full account number, the name and branch of the receiving bank, and its SWIFT/BIC if requested. The bank may also require the recipient’s address or phone number. Ask the receiving bank for its exact inward-remittance instructions rather than relying on details from an earlier payment.
  • For a mobile wallet: Ask which eligible wallet the recipient uses and what account identifier the payout instructions require. The recipient may need an active, verified wallet and, depending on the route, a linked bank card or account.
  • For cash pickup: Confirm that a pickup option and a convenient location appear for the transfer. The recipient will generally need identification matching the name you entered and any collection information provided after you send.

Coinepay may ask for additional information or documents, including the purpose of the payment or source of funds. Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and applicable local regulations. Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions.

Choose a payout method for China

Bank-account deposit

Bank deposit sends funds to an eligible account at the recipient’s bank. For an international bank route into China, enter the account holder’s name as recorded by the bank, the full account number, and the receiving bank and branch details requested in Coinepay. A SWIFT/BIC identifies the receiving bank when the route calls for one. Some payments routed through China’s clearing system may also require a CNAPS code; obtain it from the receiving bank if Coinepay asks for it. Do not assume it is required for every transfer.

Chinese bank accounts do not use an IBAN format. If you have been given an account number, do not add an invented IBAN or replace the bank’s instructions with a Canadian transit number. Confirm that the recipient’s account can receive the currency and type of inward payment you are sending. The recipient’s bank may ask them for a purpose-of-payment explanation before crediting the account.

Mobile-wallet payout

Alipay and WeChat, also called Weixin, are prominent mobile-wallet options in China. Cross-border providers may offer a route to an eligible wallet balance or linked bank card, but which wallet routes are available for your Coinepay transfer must be checked in the app. Choose a wallet only if it appears among the payout options for the recipient and follow the details requested on that screen.

The recipient should confirm that their wallet is registered in their real name, can receive the proposed cross-border payout, and has completed any required verification or card-linking steps. If the recipient is asked to accept or complete a payout in their wallet, they should follow that wallet’s instructions promptly. Requirements can differ between Alipay and WeChat routes; do not substitute a phone number, wallet identifier or card number unless the transfer form specifically requests it.

Cash pickup

If cash pickup is offered for the destination and transfer you are setting up, select an available pickup location and check the collection instructions before confirming. Give the recipient the details they need to collect, such as a transfer reference if one is provided, through a secure channel. Their identification should show the same legal name you entered. Ask them to check the location’s identification requirements and availability before travelling; the options shown for a particular transfer determine what can be used.

You may also encounter references elsewhere to payouts using a UnionPay card linked to a CNY bank account. That is a distinct, provider-dependent route, not a substitute for bank-account or wallet details. Use it only if Coinepay actually presents it as an option and the recipient’s card and bank are eligible.

How to send from Canada to China

  1. Sign in to your verified account. Open the Coinepay app or dashboard and start a Global Remittance transfer. If you have not registered yet, create a Coinepay account and complete the required verification.
  2. Choose the destination and currency. Select China as the destination, then review the sending and receiving currency choices displayed. Check whether the recipient expects CNY and confirm that the selected payout method suits their account or wallet.
  3. Select the payout method and enter recipient details. Pick an option available for this transfer, then copy the recipient’s legal name and payout information from instructions they have verified. For a bank deposit, check the account number, bank and branch, and any requested SWIFT/BIC or CNAPS code. For a wallet or cash pickup, follow the specific fields shown.
  4. Review the transfer. Coinepay displays the exchange rate and fees before you confirm. Check the recipient details, payout method, currency and amount shown on the review screen. Make sure you understand any additional information requested for the payment.
  5. Confirm and track it. Submit the transfer only when the details are correct. Coinepay provides status tracking for every transfer in the app or dashboard. Keep the transfer reference and watch for requests for information rather than assuming that submission means the recipient has been paid.

What the recipient may need to do

Tell the recipient which payout method you selected and ask them to watch for instructions from their bank, wallet or pickup provider. For bank deposits, the receiving bank may request identification, a reason for the payment, or supporting records. Business recipients may be asked for documents such as a contract or invoice. A recipient converting foreign currency into RMB may face foreign-exchange settlement requirements; the applicable process depends on the payment and receiving institution. These rules should not be treated as a blanket prohibition on receiving an international transfer.

Wallet recipients may need to finish verification, link an eligible card or take a collection step. Cash-pickup recipients should bring the identification and collection details specified for the available location. Use genuine recipient information throughout: a mismatch between the transfer and the recipient’s records can prevent payout.

Troubleshooting a transfer

  • Wrong recipient details: If you spot an incorrect name, account number, bank code or wallet detail, check the transfer status and contact Coinepay support as soon as possible. Do not submit a second transfer to compensate for the error unless you have confirmed what happened to the first.
  • Compliance review: Respond to requests for identity, payment purpose or source-of-funds documents with accurate information. The recipient’s bank or payout provider may also need information from them. Do not use another person’s account or divide a payment to avoid a review.
  • Recipient has not received it: Check Coinepay’s transfer status first. Ask the recipient whether their bank or wallet has requested action and whether the account can receive this type of payment. For cash pickup, confirm the location and collection instructions shown for the transfer.
  • Transfer returned: Incorrect or mismatched details, an ineligible receiving account, an incomplete wallet step or a receiving-side requirement may prevent payout. Check the status and contact support for the reason and next steps before creating a new transfer.

If an option or a required receiving detail is unclear, confirm the instructions with the recipient’s bank or payout provider and Coinepay support before you confirm the payment.

FAQ

Does a recipient in China need an IBAN?

No. Chinese bank accounts do not use an IBAN format. Ask for the recipient’s full account number and the receiving bank details requested for the transfer.

Can I send to Alipay or WeChat from Canada?

Check the payout options shown in Coinepay for your transfer. If an eligible wallet route appears, follow its recipient-detail and verification instructions.

When will I see the exchange rate and fees?

Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm the transfer.

What if I entered the wrong bank account number?

Check the transfer status and contact Coinepay support promptly. Do not assume the details can be changed after confirmation or send a replacement before checking the first transfer.
