Coinepay Global Remittance lets individuals and businesses send cross-border transfers to Ukraine. This guide walks through what you need before you start, how to choose a payout method, how to review the exchange rate and fees that Coinepay shows you before you confirm, and how to track your transfer and fix common problems. The local currency in Ukraine is the Ukrainian hryvnia (UAH), and transfers can be delivered in UAH to the recipient.
Before you start
To send money with Coinepay you need a registered account that has completed identity verification (KYC). If you have not done this yet, create your account and finish verification first. You can manage everything from the 24/7 self-service dashboard or the Coinepay mobile app for iOS and Android.
Every transfer to Ukraine is subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay screens all customers and counterparties against sanctions lists and may ask for supporting documents, such as the purpose of the transfer or the source of your funds. Coinepay sends to every country and region except those under comprehensive sanctions; note that the occupied regions of Ukraine are sanctioned and cannot receive transfers, so the recipient must be in government-controlled territory.
What the recipient details look like for Ukraine
The exact fields depend on the payout method you pick, but for a bank transfer to Ukraine you will generally need the following. Always use the recipient's real legal name and the instructions their receiving bank issued.
- Recipient's full legal name exactly as it appears on their bank records, and usually their address.
- IBAN. A Ukrainian IBAN is 29 characters long and begins with UA. It contains a six-digit National Bank of Ukraine institution identifier followed by a 19-digit account component.
- SWIFT/BIC of the receiving bank for an international bank-to-bank transfer. Some routes also need correspondent-bank details, which the receiving bank can supply.
- Payment purpose. Ukrainian banks commonly require a stated purpose before they credit an incoming international transfer.
Formats used in other countries - such as IFSC, CLABE or US routing numbers - are not Ukrainian bank-detail formats, so do not try to force those fields. If the receiving bank's written instructions mention a branch code or extra identifier, use exactly what they issued.
Payout methods you can choose
When you set up the transfer, Coinepay shows the payout methods available for Ukraine. Common local payout methods across the Coinepay network include bank deposit, mobile wallets and cash pickup; the exact options for Ukraine appear in the app when you select the destination. Here is what each one typically needs.
Bank account deposit
This sends UAH straight to the recipient's Ukrainian bank account. You will need their full legal name, their IBAN (the 29-character UA number described above) and the receiving bank's SWIFT/BIC, plus a payment purpose. Large Ukrainian banks that receive international transfers include PrivatBank, Oschadbank and PUMB. Make sure the recipient confirms the currency their account accepts, because a mismatch between the incoming currency and the account or card currency can stop an automatic credit.
Mobile wallet
Where a mobile-wallet payout is offered for Ukraine, you generally need the recipient's full name and the phone number or wallet ID linked to their account. Availability can change, so check the Coinepay app to see whether a wallet payout is listed for your Ukraine transfer before you rely on it; if it is not shown, use bank deposit or cash pickup instead.
Cash pickup
With cash pickup, the recipient collects the funds at a payout location. You usually provide their full legal name exactly as on their ID and, once the transfer is ready, share the reference details Coinepay gives you. To collect a foreign-currency transfer in Ukraine, the recipient must present valid identification and the applicable withdrawal or transfer-receipt document, so remind them to bring ID that matches the name on the transfer.
Step-by-step: send the transfer
- Open Global Remittance in the Coinepay app or dashboard and start a new transfer.
- Choose Ukraine as the destination and select the payout currency (UAH for local payout) and the payout method - bank deposit, mobile wallet or cash pickup.
- Enter the recipient details for the method you chose. Double-check the name spelling and, for bank deposit, every character of the IBAN and the SWIFT/BIC.
- Enter the amount you want to send or the amount you want the recipient to receive.
- Review the exchange rate and fees. Coinepay shows the rate and the fees clearly before you confirm, along with the amount the recipient should receive. Read this summary carefully.
- Add the payment purpose and any supporting information requested. Providing a clear, accurate purpose helps avoid a hold at the receiving bank.
- Confirm the transfer. After you confirm, Coinepay processes it and begins the payout to Ukraine.
- Track the status. Every transfer has status tracking in the app, so you can follow it from submitted through to paid out.
What the recipient should expect
Ukrainian banks and other financial institutions verify customers and review incoming transactions for anti-money-laundering purposes, and they may contact the recipient for information before releasing funds. Tax treatment is a separate matter: receiving a transfer is not by itself a determination that it is taxable income, but Ukrainian tax residents generally must declare taxable foreign-source income. The tax authority states that foreign income is generally subject to 18% personal income tax and a 5% military levy, subject to applicable exemptions and treaty provisions. If the recipient is unsure how a transfer should be treated, they should consult a qualified local tax adviser.
Troubleshooting
Wrong or missing recipient details
A missing name, address or payment purpose can prevent the receiving bank from crediting the account until the details are clarified, and incorrect details can trigger bank correspondence and extra charges. Check the information with your recipient before you confirm. If you spot a mistake after sending, contact Coinepay support as soon as possible.
Currency mismatch
If the incoming transfer currency does not match the recipient's account or card currency, the bank may not credit it automatically. Confirm with the recipient which currency their account accepts and choose the matching payout currency.
Compliance review
A transfer may be paused for identity verification or sanctions screening. If Coinepay asks for documents such as the purpose or source of funds, respond promptly to keep things moving. Never split a transfer, route it through a third party, or attempt to avoid checks or reporting.
Delays
Processing can take longer because of transaction review, payout-partner availability, currency conversion or non-working days and holidays. Use the status tracker, and contact support if a transfer stays pending far longer than the summary suggested.
Returned transfers
If the payout cannot be completed - for example because of ineligible recipient details, a restricted bank or region, or a failed compliance check - the transfer may be returned. Check the status notes, correct the issue and resend, or reach out to support for help.
