XServer Rental Server (at xserver.ne.jp) is one of Japan's long-running web hosting services, with three plans and prices published in tax-inclusive Japanese yen. If you want to pay with a Coinepay virtual card, this guide walks through what you need, how registration and checkout work, and what to check if a card payment is declined. XServer requires 3-D Secure 2.0 on card payments, so the setup matters.
What you need before you start
Have the following ready so checkout goes smoothly:
- A verified Coinepay account. Register at Coinepay and complete identity verification (KYC) first, because card services are only available after KYC is approved.
- A Coinepay virtual card with its card number, expiry date and CVV, which you can view in the Coinepay dashboard or the mobile app (iOS / Google Play).
- Enough balance on the card to cover the full contract term. XServer prepays the entire term up front rather than billing month by month, so top up before you pay.
- Your real billing details and a phone number that can receive the issuer's 3-D Secure verification.
XServer lists Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express and Diners Club credit cards (Diners Club was added on 1 October 2026). Some Visa, Mastercard and JCB debit or prepaid cards also work, subject to your issuer's acceptance, but JCB-issued PREMO cards are excluded. Because acceptance depends on the issuer and XServer's own checks, contact Coinepay support if you want to confirm your card meets these requirements before you buy.
XServer plans and prices
XServer Rental Server offers three tiers: Standard (スタンダード), Premium (プレミアム) and Business (ビジネス). The published price list is in tax-inclusive Japanese yen; a separate official USD or EUR price for this service is not confirmed, so the amount your Coinepay card is charged will be based on the yen figure.
At the time of writing (October 2026), for a new 36-month contract the advertised promotional monthly-equivalent rates were ¥693 / ¥1,386 / ¥2,772 for Standard / Premium / Business, including tax, with the full term prepaid. Shorter terms cost more per month: around ¥1,320 / ¥2,640 / ¥5,280 for three months, or ¥1,210 / ¥2,420 / ¥4,840 for six months. A campaign running 5 October–4 November 2026 (17:00 Japan time) discounts the initial charge on newly applied-for 12-, 24- and 36-month contracts by 10%, 20% and 30% respectively; it does not apply just because an older application is paid during the promotion. Prices and promotions change, so always confirm the current figures on the official xserver.ne.jp price page before paying.
Step 1: Register your XServer account
Go to the XServer order page and create a new account, then select a server plan. The standard application starts a 10-day free trial, and your service becomes a paid contract once you confirm payment during or after that trial. XServer provides instructions for entering an overseas address and phone number during registration, so use your real details. Note that XServer does not accept bank remittances from overseas, which is one reason a card payment is often the practical choice from outside Japan.
Step 2: Open the payment screen
Log in to XServer Account and go to 料金支払い (Pay fees). Select the service you want to pay for and the contract term (3, 6, 12, 24 or 36 months). Review the charge amount shown on screen, then choose credit card as the payment method. XServer also lists domestic bank transfer, Pay-easy, Paidy pay-later, convenience-store payment and prepaid balance, but to use your Coinepay card pick the card option.
Step 3: Enter your Coinepay card details
Open the Coinepay app or dashboard, copy your virtual card number, expiry date and CVV, and enter them exactly as shown. Make sure the name and billing details you register match what you use elsewhere. Paying by card also enables automatic renewal for the selected contract period; you can manage this later under 自動更新設定 (Automatic renewal settings) in the account menu, where your registered cards are also stored.
Step 4: Complete 3-D Secure authentication
XServer requires 3-D Secure 2.0 for card payments. After you submit the card, you may be redirected to an issuer authentication step. Approve the prompt through your Coinepay app or the verification channel tied to your card. If 3-D Secure is not completed, the payment will not go through. Once authentication succeeds and the charge is confirmed, your contract is activated and you'll see confirmation in XServer Account.
Troubleshooting: card declined
XServer's own FAQ advises checking your card details, confirming 3-D Secure 2.0 is set up, and reviewing issuer restrictions, then contacting the issuer or trying another method. Here are the common causes and what to do:
Insufficient balance
Because XServer charges the whole contract term at once, the amount can be larger than a single monthly fee. Check the total shown on the payment screen and top up your Coinepay card so it covers the full charge, then retry.
Billing address or details mismatch
Re-enter the card number, expiry and CVV carefully, and make sure your billing information matches the details on your Coinepay account. A small typo or mismatch is a frequent reason for a decline.
3-D Secure not completed
If the authentication window closes, times out, or you miss the prompt, the payment fails. Confirm that notifications for your Coinepay card are enabled, start the payment again, and approve the 3-D Secure request promptly.
Card type or issuer restriction
Some debit and prepaid cards work only if the issuer accepts the transaction, and JCB PREMO cards are not supported. If the charge is refused, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card can be used for this merchant, or try another supported method listed by XServer.
Region checks
XServer serves an international audience but has its own acceptance checks. Use your real address and phone number during registration; never enter false details or try to disguise your location. If payments still fail, reach out to XServer support and to Coinepay through the support channel or Telegram.
Managing renewal and cancellation
Automatic renewal is tied to the card you registered, so if you let a Coinepay card expire or run its balance down, update the card under 自動更新設定 (Automatic renewal settings) before the next renewal date. To cancel, go to XServer Account → contract details → 解約する (Cancel). Your service stays available until its paid expiry date, and fees already paid are not refunded. Trial users who do not wish to continue must request cancellation by the trial's expiry; no cancellation fee is charged in that case.
Final checklist
- KYC completed in Coinepay and a card with enough balance for the full term.
- Correct plan and contract length selected under 料金支払い.
- Card details entered accurately and 3-D Secure approved.
- Renewal card kept current to avoid service interruption.
Always confirm the latest prices, promotions and accepted card types on the official XServer site, and check your charge in the Coinepay app before and after you pay.

Why was my card declined at XServer?
