Porkbun sells domain registrations, renewals and transfers priced per extension, plus a range of web-hosting and email products. If you prefer to keep your main account separate from day-to-day purchases, a Coinepay virtual card gives you a card number, expiry date and CVV you can enter at the Porkbun checkout. This guide walks through what you need, how to buy a domain or hosting plan, and how to troubleshoot a declined payment.
What you need before you start
To pay for anything at Porkbun you will need three things working together:
- A verified Coinepay account. Register at the Coinepay sign-up page and complete identity verification (KYC) before you try to issue a card. Card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions, and some services are not available in every jurisdiction.
- A Coinepay virtual card with available balance. Create the card in the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app (iOS / Android) and note the card number, expiry and CVV.
- A Porkbun account and the real billing details that match your card. Porkbun prices are shown in USD, so make sure your card can be charged in US dollars.
Porkbun officially lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club and JCB as accepted card networks, alongside Alipay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Amazon Pay, PayPal and USDC via Coinbase Business. Whether any specific card is accepted depends on the merchant's own checks. If you are unsure your Coinepay card meets Porkbun's requirements, contact Coinepay support to confirm before you buy.
Know what you are paying for
Porkbun does not bundle everything into one subscription. Domains are billed as separate registration, renewal and transfer transactions per extension. Hosting and email are separate products with their own billing cycles.
Domains
At the time of writing (October 2026), a single-year .com registration, renewal and transfer were each listed at $11.08 USD, with the price table noting it includes ICANN and other fees for non-premium domains. Country-code examples included .ca at $8.67 registration, .co.uk at $5.66, and .com.au at $8.33 — all in USD, not local-currency checkout prices. Porkbun has announced that .com will rise to roughly $11.81 on November 1, 2026 (04:00 UTC), so always confirm the current figure on the official domain price page before you pay.
Hosting and email
Porkbun's hosting line-up includes Link In Bio, Articulation, Cloud for WordPress, cPanel Hosting, Static Hosting and Easy PHP, each with monthly or yearly billing. For reference, at the time of writing (October 2026) Articulation listed Starter, Pro and Performance at $6/$12/$26 per month, and cPanel Hosting listed 1/10/25/50 Sites at $9/$12/$17/$24 per month. Porkbun Email Hosting listed one inbox at $36/year with a 15-day trial on a new domain. Plans and promotional first-year rates change, so check the relevant product page for the exact price in your case.
Step-by-step: paying at the Porkbun checkout
- Create or log in to your Porkbun account. You need an account to complete any purchase.
- Search and add to cart. For a domain, search for an available name and add it to your cart. For hosting or email, choose the product and plan you want.
- Select Checkout. Review the domain and any optional services (such as WHOIS privacy, SSL or email) before continuing.
- Continue to Billing. Choose a payment option on the billing screen.
- Enter your Coinepay card. Type the virtual card number, expiry date and CVV from your Coinepay dashboard or app. Enter billing details that match your Coinepay account.
- Confirm the charge. Review the USD total, then submit. If a 3-D Secure confirmation step appears, approve it through Coinepay.
To save a card for later or to enable automatic renewal, go to ACCOUNT → Settings / Billing → Billing Information → Add Credit Card. A saved card is what lets Porkbun auto-renew your domains and services.
Using account credit instead
Porkbun also lets you pre-load account credit under Settings / Billing, with a documented minimum purchase of $10 USD; credit can then cover future purchases and automatic renewals. ACH funding of credit requires a US-based bank account and ID verification, and credited funds can take up to seven days to clear — so if you are paying by card, paying at checkout directly is usually simpler.
Troubleshooting a declined or failed payment
Porkbun does not publish a complete list of card decline codes, and some reported checkout failures turn out to be unrelated to the card. Work through these common causes in order.
Insufficient balance
Your Coinepay card is charged in USD. Make sure the available balance covers the full total, including any renewal of multiple domains in the same cart. Top up in the Coinepay app and retry.
Billing address mismatch
If the billing details you enter at Porkbun do not match the details on file for your Coinepay card, the authorization can fail. Use your real, current billing information exactly as it appears in Coinepay. One community report described a failed .ca purchase that was resolved after correcting registrant details, so double-check every field.
3-D Secure confirmation
If a verification prompt appears, complete it promptly in the Coinepay app. A missed or timed-out confirmation will cancel the charge even when funds are available.
Authorization errors
A September 2026 user report described checkout "authorization errors" across several payment methods, where support pointed to a bank confirmation step while the bank saw no transaction. If you hit a similar wall, wait a few minutes, confirm no pending hold appears in Coinepay, then retry. If it persists, contact Coinepay support to check the card side and Porkbun support for the merchant side.
Merchant and region checks
Some newly created Porkbun accounts are asked to complete photo-ID verification based partly on region and other risk signals. Separately, certain extensions have eligibility rules unrelated to payment — .ca requires a qualifying Canadian connection and .au requires an Australian presence. A card that clears will still not complete a registration you are not eligible for.
Managing renewals, cancellations and refunds
New domains have automatic renewal on by default. Turn it off for a single domain in Domain Management, or change the New Registrations Default under Settings / Billing → Domain Renewal Settings. Hosting and email do not auto-stop by toggling a switch — you must cancel the service itself. To cancel cPanel hosting, open the domain's hosting page, select cancel service and complete the confirmation steps.
Porkbun's September 2026 refund guide says eligible domain registrations and renewals can be deleted and refunded in-account within 96 hours, subject to TLD eligibility and a 5% refund fee, and that cancellation cannot be reversed. Note that Porkbun's domain registration agreement describes renewals as final, which conflicts with that newer guidance, so check eligibility in your account or with Porkbun support before you rely on a refund. If you no longer want a Coinepay card used for renewals, you can also manage or close that card in the Coinepay app.
Always confirm current prices, plan names and refund eligibility on Porkbun's own pages before paying — figures above were accurate only at the time of writing.

FAQ
Does Porkbun accept virtual cards?
Porkbun lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club and JCB among accepted card networks. Whether a specific Coinepay virtual card is accepted depends on the merchant's checks. Enter the card number, expiry and CVV at checkout, and contact Coinepay support if you want to confirm your card first.
What currency does Porkbun charge in?
Porkbun's price tables and checkout are stated in USD, including for country-code extensions like .ca, .co.uk and .com.au. Make sure your Coinepay card can be charged in US dollars and has enough balance for the full total.
Why was my Porkbun payment declined?
Common causes are insufficient card balance, a billing address that doesn't match your card details, an unconfirmed 3-D Secure prompt, or merchant authorization errors. Check your balance and details in the Coinepay app, retry, and contact Coinepay support if the problem continues.
Can I get a refund after paying Porkbun?
Porkbun's September 2026 guide says eligible domain registrations and renewals can be refunded in-account within 96 hours, subject to TLD eligibility and a 5% fee, though its registration agreement describes renewals as final. Check eligibility in your account or with Porkbun support before counting on a refund.
How do I stop Porkbun from auto-renewing with my card?
New domains auto-renew by default. Turn it off per domain in Domain Management or change the New Registrations Default under Settings / Billing. Hosting and email must be cancelled through the service's own cancel option, not just by toggling renewal.
