O Globo is one of Brazil's best-known news outlets, and a digital subscription unlocks its website, app, digital archive and the Clube O Globo benefits programme. This guide explains how to set up a Coinepay virtual card and use it to pay for an O Globo subscription, which plans exist, what the checkout looks like, and what to do if a payment is declined.

Before you start: what you need

O Globo's subscription offers are published and priced in Brazilian reais (BRL) on its official sites, such as the assinatura pages at oglobo.globo.com. To subscribe smoothly you should have:

  • A Globo.com account, or an email address to create one during sign-up.
  • A payment method that O Globo accepts. The offer terms list credit cards — American Express, Mastercard, Elo and Visa — and direct debit from a current account. Some offers also advertise Pix (for example the annual plan paid upfront) and, where the offer allows it, a boleto bank slip.
  • Your real billing details, matching the identity you use at Coinepay and at O Globo.
O Globo does not publish a list of exactly which card networks, card types (credit, debit, prepaid) or card-issuing countries its checkout accepts in every case. Whether a foreign-issued card works at a Brazilian checkout can vary. Before you buy, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets the requirement, and be ready with an accepted alternative such as Pix if your card is not taken.

Step 1: Create your Coinepay virtual card

If you don't have an account yet, register with Coinepay and complete identity verification (KYC). Card and fund services are provided through licensed partner financial institutions, so verification is required before you can issue a card. Note that virtual-asset-related services are not available to residents of mainland China, and some services are not available in every jurisdiction.

Once verified, open the Coinepay dashboard or the mobile app (iOS / Google Play) and issue a virtual card. You'll instantly see the card number, expiry date and CVV. Fund the card so it has enough balance to cover the plan you want, plus any currency conversion that applies when paying a BRL merchant. Check the current balance, limits and supported currencies in the app before you check out.

Step 2: Choose an O Globo plan

On O Globo's official offer pages you'll typically see these plans. Prices below were observed at the time of writing (October 2026) in Brazilian reais and are offer-specific — always confirm the exact price on the checkout you select before paying.

PlanWhat it includesPrice observed (Oct 2026)
GLOBO DIGITAL MENSALSite, app, digital archive, Clube O GloboIntro from R$1.90/month for three months (or two months free, depending on the offer page), then R$39.90/month
GLOBO DIGITAL ANUALSame digital access, annual billingR$118.80 for year one, in up to 12 credit-card instalments of R$9.90; stated subsequent annual price R$478.80
GLOBO IMPRESSO 3 DIAS + DIGITALPrint Fri–Sun plus digitalR$19.90/month for three months, then R$112.90/month
GLOBO IMPRESSO 7 DIAS + DIGITALPrint Mon–Sun plus digitalR$49.90/month for three months, then print renewal (one page quoted R$199.90, another R$179.90)

Because different official offer pages ran different introductory deals and renewal prices on the same day, the price you pay depends on the exact page you start from. Print delivery is only offered within O Globo's home-delivery perimeter in RJ, SP, MG and ES. Check the official page for current pricing before you commit.

Step 3: Sign up and reach the checkout

  1. On the offer you want, click "ASSINE JÁ" to start. The annual offer links through to O Globo's subscription checkout at assinaturaglobo.globo.com.
  2. Sign in with an existing Globo.com login, or create an account with your email.
  3. Enter your real personal and billing details as requested.
  4. Select your payment method. To pay with your Coinepay card, choose the credit-card option, then enter the card number, expiry date, CVV and the cardholder name exactly as shown in the Coinepay app.
  5. Review the plan, the introductory price and the renewal price, then confirm.

O Globo's digital contract says you'll receive a confirmation email with instructions to register or link your account. Access is normally immediate but can take up to 24 hours. If you don't get access right away, wait, then check the confirmation email before contacting O Globo.

Step 4: Manage or change your payment method later

To update the card on file, O Globo support directs subscribers to the Portal do Assinante → Minha Assinatura → select the subscription → "trocar forma de pagamento" (change payment method). One subscriber reported that the change-payment control only appeared after switching their phone browser to desktop mode, so try that if the option is missing on mobile.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless you object. O Globo's digital contract directs cancellation requests to the phone line (21) 4002-5300 and says any remaining paid credit continues as access until it runs out. The annual offer states there is no refund for the unused remainder of the 12-month term if you cancel early; separately, Brazil's Consumer Defense Code provides a seven-day withdrawal right for contracts made outside a business establishment. Keep enough balance on your Coinepay card for the renewal date, or switch the plan off in good time if you don't want to renew.

Troubleshooting: why a card payment can be declined

O Globo does not publish its own list of card-decline messages, so work through the common causes below. For anything on the Coinepay side, check the app first.

Insufficient balance

The most common cause is simply too little balance to cover the charge plus any conversion from your card currency to BRL. Open the Coinepay app, confirm the available balance, top up, and try again.

Billing address or name mismatch

The name and billing details you enter at O Globo should match what's on your Coinepay card record. A mismatch can trigger a decline. Correct any typo in the card number, expiry, CVV or name and re-enter.

3-D Secure / extra authentication

Brazilian checkouts often use an additional verification step. Make sure notifications are enabled in the Coinepay app so you can approve the transaction, and complete any confirmation prompt promptly before it times out.

Merchant region or card-type checks

O Globo's accepted methods are Amex, Mastercard, Elo, Visa and current-account direct debit, with Pix and boleto on some offers. The pages reviewed did not confirm acceptance of debit, prepaid or foreign-issued cards. If your card is declined for this reason, don't try to disguise your location or details — use an accepted alternative such as Pix, or ask Coinepay support to confirm whether your card is suitable for this merchant.

Charged but no access

One subscriber reported being charged without the subscription being created. If money leaves your Coinepay card but you get no confirmation or access, keep the transaction record from the app and contact O Globo's subscriber service to resolve the contracting error.

Need help from Coinepay?

For card issuance, balance, conversion or declined-payment questions on the Coinepay side, the dashboard and app are available 24/7. You can also reach the team via support or on Telegram. For plan, access and cancellation questions, contact O Globo directly through the Portal do Assinante or its published phone line.

FAQ

Which payment methods does O Globo accept?

O Globo's offer terms list credit cards — American Express, Mastercard, Elo and Visa — and direct debit from a current account. Some offers also show Pix (for example the annual plan paid upfront) and, where allowed, a boleto bank slip. Acceptance of debit, prepaid or foreign-issued cards is not confirmed on the pages reviewed.

How much does an O Globo digital subscription cost?

At the time of writing (October 2026) the GLOBO DIGITAL MENSAL plan showed an introductory price (from R$1.90/month for three months, or two months free depending on the page), then R$39.90/month. GLOBO DIGITAL ANUAL showed R$118.80 for year one in up to 12 instalments of R$9.90. Prices are in reais and offer-specific, so check the official checkout.

Will my Coinepay virtual card work at O Globo's checkout?

It may, but O Globo doesn't publish exactly which card types and issuing countries it accepts, and a foreign-issued card at a Brazilian checkout can be hit or miss. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card is suitable before buying, and have an accepted alternative such as Pix ready.

How do I change the card on my O Globo subscription?

Go to Portal do Assinante → Minha Assinatura → select your subscription → 'trocar forma de pagamento'. If the option doesn't appear on mobile, switching your phone browser to desktop mode has helped some subscribers reach the control.

How do I cancel an O Globo subscription?

Subscriptions renew automatically unless you object. O Globo's digital contract directs cancellation requests to (21) 4002-5300, and any remaining paid credit continues as access until it's used up. The annual plan states there's no refund for the unused remainder of the 12-month term if you cancel early.
