GitKraken is a popular Git client and developer platform, and its paid tiers are billed online through the gitkraken.dev dashboard. If you manage your spending with a Coinepay virtual card, this guide walks you through what you need, how the GitKraken checkout works, and how to troubleshoot a declined payment. It is an independent how-to and is not affiliated with GitKraken.
Before you start
A few things make the GitKraken checkout go smoothly:
- A verified Coinepay account. You must register and complete identity verification (KYC) before you can use card services. Create your account from the Coinepay sign-up page, or manage everything from the Coinepay app on iOS or Google Play.
- A Coinepay virtual card. Each card comes with an instant card number, expiry date and CVV that you enter at checkout.
- Enough balance for the first charge plus any tax. GitKraken paid plans are billed annually, so the first charge covers a full year per seat. Listed prices exclude tax, which is added at checkout.
- Your real billing details. Use the name, address and country that match your Coinepay account. GitKraken requires a country/region during checkout, and accurate details reduce the chance of a decline.
Important: GitKraken accepts credit cards for self-serve plans
GitKraken's own FAQ (updated April 2026) states that Pro, Advanced and Business are paid by credit card only through the direct checkout; purchase orders are offered for On-Premise options through its sales team. GitKraken does not publicly name the accepted card brands, and whether debit cards are accepted in direct checkout is not documented.
Because of this, the type of card you use matters. We can't claim that any particular Coinepay card will satisfy a credit-card-only requirement. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets this requirement before you buy — reach the team through the support page or Telegram. Doing this first saves you a failed charge.
Know the GitKraken plans
GitKraken moved to a five-tier structure on March 29, 2025. At the time of writing (October 2026), the plans and published seat limits are:
| Plan | Seats | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Community | 1 | Free |
| Pro | Up to 2 | Paid annually |
| Advanced | Up to 10 | Paid annually |
| Business | Up to 100 | Paid annually |
| Enterprise | Larger teams | Requires a sales quote |
Pricing varies by region and billing country and is not fully exposed until you choose a country at checkout. GitKraken's pricing page advertises a Pro promotion and shows that paid plans are billed annually, but local checkout amounts aren't all published. Always confirm the current price on GitKraken's official pricing page before you pay, and remember that listed prices exclude tax. Added seats are charged on a prorated basis.
Step-by-step: subscribe and pay
- Create a Coinepay virtual card. Open the Coinepay dashboard or app, issue a card, and note its number, expiry and CVV. Make sure the balance covers a full annual charge per seat plus tax.
- Sign in to GitKraken. Go to the gitkraken.dev dashboard and create or sign in to your GitKraken account.
- Select your organization. Choose the organization the subscription belongs to. Only Owners, Admins and Billing Contacts can buy or change a subscription.
- Click Purchase Subscription. Choose the tier (Pro, Advanced or Business) and the number of seats you need.
- Enter contact and country/region details. Use your real information that matches your Coinepay card billing details.
- Select a payment method. Enter your Coinepay virtual card number, expiry date and CVV, and the billing address tied to the card.
- Review the order. Check the seats, tier, billing term and the tax-inclusive total.
- Click Buy now. If a 3-D Secure prompt appears, approve it in your Coinepay app to complete the charge.
After purchase, you can manage everything under gitkraken.dev → organization → Subscription. Use Update to change the billing method and View Billing History to download invoice PDFs.
If your card is declined
GitKraken's purchase guide advises verifying your payment method and contacting GitKraken support if a payment still fails; it doesn't publish a specific decline-reason list. The most common causes are general to online checkouts:
Insufficient balance
Annual billing means the first charge is a full year per seat, which can be larger than expected. Confirm your Coinepay balance covers the tax-inclusive total before retrying, and top up if needed.
Billing address mismatch
The address you type at GitKraken checkout should exactly match the billing address registered to your Coinepay card. A mismatched postal code or country is a frequent decline trigger. Check and correct it in the Coinepay app, then re-enter it at checkout.
3-D Secure not completed
If the payment needs extra verification, approve the prompt in your Coinepay app promptly. If you missed it, start the checkout again and keep the app open so you can confirm immediately.
Card-type restriction
Remember that GitKraken self-serve plans are credit-card only. If your card is rejected for this reason, there is nothing to fix at checkout — confirm with Coinepay support whether your card meets GitKraken's requirement.
Region or merchant checks
GitKraken requires a country/region at checkout and its EULA requires compliance with applicable US export regulations. Use your genuine country — never enter false details or try to bypass a regional check. If a legitimate payment is still blocked, both Coinepay support and GitKraken support can help identify the cause.
Never use fake billing details, a borrowed identity or tools to disguise your location. Always pay with your real information.
Managing, changing and cancelling
To change your payment method later, go to organization → Subscription → Update and enter a new Coinepay card. To cancel, an Owner, Admin or Billing Contact uses organization → Subscription → Cancel; GitKraken's guide states that access continues until the end of the current billing period. The guide promises continued access rather than a refund, so don't assume a prorated refund — GitKraken's EULA separately offers a 30-day substantial-conformity warranty under which it may fix an error or refund in specific cases. Review GitKraken's current terms for details.
Because GitKraken bills annually, set a reminder before your renewal date so the next year's charge doesn't surprise you. You can keep a dedicated Coinepay card for GitKraken to make that renewal easy to track in your billing history.
A note for businesses
If your team subscribes to Advanced or Business, you can use a Coinepay virtual card to centralize the charge and keep a clean record of the transaction. Coinepay lets businesses issue dedicated virtual cards with custom spending limits, which is handy when you want one card for developer tools like GitKraken and separate cards for other services. Added seats are prorated, so keep enough balance on the card to cover mid-cycle additions.

FAQ
Can I pay for GitKraken with a Coinepay virtual card?
You can enter a Coinepay virtual card's number, expiry and CVV at GitKraken's checkout. However, GitKraken's FAQ says Pro, Advanced and Business are credit-card only for self-serve purchases, and it doesn't publish the accepted brands. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets this requirement before you buy.
How much does GitKraken cost?
GitKraken offers Community (free), Pro, Advanced, Business and Enterprise (quote-based). Paid plans are billed annually and prices vary by region and billing country, excluding tax. Check GitKraken's official pricing page for the current amount in your country before you pay.
Why was my card declined at GitKraken checkout?
Common causes are insufficient balance for the full annual charge plus tax, a billing address that doesn't match your card, an incomplete 3-D Secure prompt, or a card-type restriction since GitKraken self-serve plans are credit-card only. Verify these, then contact Coinepay or GitKraken support.
Where do I update my payment method or view invoices?
Go to gitkraken.dev, open your organization, then Subscription. Use Update to change the billing card and View Billing History to download invoice PDFs. Only Owners, Admins and Billing Contacts can make these changes.
Do I get a refund if I cancel GitKraken?
GitKraken's cancellation guide says access continues until the end of the current billing period but doesn't promise a refund. Its EULA offers a separate 30-day substantial-conformity warranty in specific cases. Review GitKraken's current terms, as refund entitlement isn't guaranteed for every cancellation.
