Crave is Canada's home for HBO, Max Originals and homegrown series, and it's available to stream only within Canada. If you manage your spending through a Coinepay virtual card, this guide walks through what you need before checkout, how Crave's direct sign-up works, and what to do when a card is declined. Read the billing requirements carefully first, because Crave's direct checkout has a specific condition that affects which cards it will take.

Before you start: what you need

Crave offers two standalone paid tiers. Crave Standard With Ads gives two simultaneous streams, up to 1080p and no offline downloads. Crave Premium gives four streams, up to 4K and offline downloads. (STARZ is an add-on, not a standalone Crave tier.) Note that "Crave Basic (with ads)" was renamed to Crave Standard With Ads on October 9, 2025, with no change to features or price from the rename alone.

To subscribe you'll need:

  • A Bell Media account (you create one during sign-up), including contact details and a password.
  • Payment information and a billing address.
  • A Coinepay virtual card with its card number, expiry date and CVV. You create and manage this in the Coinepay app or dashboard after you register and complete identity verification (KYC).

Important billing requirement: Crave's own guidance says a direct subscription requires a valid Canadian credit card. Whether any given card meets that condition depends on the card itself, and Coinepay does not guarantee acceptance at any particular merchant. Before you buy, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets this requirement. If direct checkout doesn't fit your card, selected plans can instead be purchased through Apple, Google, Roku, a TV or mobility provider, Amazon Prime Video or Bell Streaming, which then handles billing.

Set up your Coinepay virtual card

Install the Coinepay app from the App Store or Google Play, or use the web dashboard. After KYC, open your card to view the full number, expiry and CVV, and make sure there's enough balance to cover the plan plus applicable tax. Services related to virtual assets are not available to residents of mainland China, and some services aren't available in every jurisdiction. Use your own real identity and real billing details at checkout.

Step-by-step: subscribe to Crave directly

  1. Go to crave.ca/subscribe in a browser.
  2. Choose your plan — Crave Standard With Ads or Crave Premium — or one of the Canadian bundles listed on the page.
  3. Create a Bell Media account, or sign in if you already have one.
  4. Enter your payment information. Type the Coinepay card number, expiry date and CVV exactly as shown in the app.
  5. Enter the billing address that matches the details on your Coinepay account.
  6. Review the plan, price and any tax shown at checkout, then confirm.
  7. If prompted, complete any identity or security step your card issuer requires to authorise the charge.

Once payment succeeds, you can start watching on the web, mobile apps or supported TV devices, all within Canada.

Pricing: check the official page

Prices change and vary by offer, so always confirm the live total at checkout on crave.ca. At the time of writing (October 2026), Crave's subscription page listed Crave Standard With Ads at C$11.99/month plus tax, and Bell also listed Standard With Ads at C$11.99 and Premium at C$22.00/month plus tax for subscriptions billed through Bell Mobility; a directly billed Premium checkout price could not be confirmed. Canadian bundles were listed starting around C$15.75/month (Disney+ Standard With Ads with Crave Standard With Ads), with TSN and ICI TOU.TV EXTRA bundles also available — taxes and eligibility should be checked at checkout. For the current figures, rely on crave.ca rather than this article.

Where to manage billing and renewals

For direct purchases, sign in at account.bellmedia.ca to see Subscriptions and Payment Methods. On crave.ca, use the profile icon → Account → Subscriptions to view your next charge or make changes. Fixed-term direct plans renew for the same term outside Quebec, but renew monthly in Quebec. Keep enough balance on your Coinepay card before each renewal date, since a declined payment can end your access.

Troubleshooting: card declined or won't save

A decline can come from the merchant, the card issuer or the billing provider. Crave's documentation and user reports describe several possible payment problems; the cause of any specific decline needs to be confirmed with your card issuer or billing provider. Work through these common areas:

Insufficient balance or limit

An expired card, an insufficient gift-card balance and a reported insufficient credit limit are all documented as possible payment problems. Open the Coinepay app and confirm your card is active, not expired, and funded for the plan price plus tax, then try again.

Billing address mismatch

If the billing address you type doesn't match what your card issuer has on file, the charge can fail verification. Re-enter the exact billing address tied to your Coinepay account, with the correct country, province/region and postal code.

3-D Secure / authorisation prompts

Some payments require an extra confirmation step from your card issuer. If a verification prompt appears, complete it. If it never arrives or times out, check your Coinepay app for an approval request or notification and retry the checkout.

"Please check your card and enter a valid number."

One user reported this message on a Visa Debit after a previous card had expired, while a Visa credit card worked; another reported that adding an American Express card produced no message or response. These are individual reports, not confirmed acceptance rules. Double-check every digit, the expiry and the CVV, remove spaces, and make sure the card hasn't expired. If it still won't save, this is where Crave's Canadian-credit-card requirement matters most — ask Coinepay support to confirm your card meets it, and consider a provider-billed route (Apple, Google, Roku, Amazon Prime Video or your mobility provider) if direct checkout won't accept your card.

Region checks

Crave streaming is available only within Canada. Billing is built around Canadian payment details, so attempts tied to details outside Canada may be refused. Use your genuine details; don't try to disguise your location or use false information to get around a regional check.

Cancelling and refunds

To cancel a direct purchase, go to Account → Subscriptions → Cancel Plan before your renewal date; access continues through the period you've already paid for. Provider-billed subscriptions must be cancelled with that provider, and switching providers does not automatically cancel an existing direct subscription. Direct subscription fees are generally non-refundable, including after cancellation, though Crave describes a prorated refund or credit when you upgrade an eligible standalone plan.

A tip for recurring streaming payments

Because Crave renews automatically, it helps to keep a buffer on the Coinepay card you use for it and to set a reminder before each renewal. You can watch activity any time from the 24/7 Coinepay dashboard or app. If a renewal fails, update or top up your card promptly, since a declined charge can interrupt access. For card-specific questions, reach Coinepay via support or Telegram, and see more guides on the Coinepay site.

FAQ

Can I use a Coinepay virtual card to pay for Crave directly?

Crave's direct checkout states it requires a valid Canadian credit card, so acceptance depends on your specific card. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets this requirement before you subscribe. If direct billing doesn't fit, selected plans can be bought through providers like Apple, Google, Roku, Amazon Prime Video or your mobility provider.

What Crave plans are available and how much do they cost?

The standalone tiers are Crave Standard With Ads (two streams, up to 1080p, no downloads) and Crave Premium (four streams, up to 4K, offline downloads). At the time of writing (October 2026), Standard With Ads was listed at C$11.99/month plus tax; always confirm the current price and tax at checkout on crave.ca.

Why was my card declined at Crave checkout?

Common causes include an expired or underfunded card, a billing address that doesn't match your card details, an incomplete 3-D Secure step, or Crave's Canadian-credit-card requirement. Confirm your Coinepay card is active and funded, re-enter the matching billing address, and check the issuer if it still fails.

Where do I manage or cancel my Crave subscription?

For direct purchases, sign in at account.bellmedia.ca under Subscriptions and Payment Methods, or on crave.ca use the profile icon → Account → Subscriptions. To cancel, use Account → Subscriptions → Cancel Plan before your renewal date; access continues through the paid period.

Is Crave available outside Canada?

Crave streaming is available only within Canada. Downloads made in Canada can be watched while travelling, subject to expiry limits. Use your real details at checkout and don't try to bypass regional checks.
