Sending money from Australia to Vietnam starts with choosing how your recipient wants to receive it. Coinepay Global Remittance supports transfers on this route, with bank deposit, mobile wallet and cash pickup as payout categories. This guide explains the details to collect, how to review the transfer before confirming it, and what to do if something goes wrong.

What you need before you start

Sign in to your Coinepay account using the self-service dashboard or mobile app. If you are new to Coinepay, register and complete the required identity verification before sending. You may also be asked for information or documents about the purpose of the transfer or source of funds. Use your real identity and give accurate information about the recipient.

Ask the recipient for their full legal name, matching the name on their bank account, wallet registration or identification document, as appropriate. Then collect the details for the payout method they want. Vietnam’s local currency is the Vietnamese dong (VND); check the currency and amount shown for the recipient when setting up the transfer rather than assuming how a particular payout will be displayed.

  • Bank deposit: Get the recipient’s exact account name, bank name and account number. Ask for any branch or bank details requested in the transfer form. Banks in Vietnam include Agribank, BIDV, MB Bank, Sacombank, Techcombank, Vietcombank and VietinBank; the recipient should confirm their own bank and account details.
  • Mobile wallet: Ask which wallet the recipient uses, the name registered to it and the wallet-linked mobile number or other identifier requested in the app. MoMo is one local wallet used for receiving international transfers. Check the Coinepay transfer form for the wallets available for your particular transfer before collecting wallet details.
  • Cash pickup: Get the recipient’s legal name exactly as it appears on their valid government-issued photo ID. Confirm the pickup option and location shown during setup, and make sure the recipient can attend with the required ID and any transfer reference Coinepay provides.

If you are uncertain about a field, ask the recipient to verify it with their bank, wallet provider or pickup location before you confirm. An incorrectly spelled name or mistyped number can prevent payment.

Which bank codes and account format apply in Vietnam?

For a local VND bank deposit, the core details are generally the recipient’s account name, bank name and ordinary bank account number. Use the account number supplied by the recipient’s bank; do not assume that every Vietnamese bank uses the same account-number length or format. Vietnam does not have a national IBAN format listed in the Swift IBAN Registry, so do not create an IBAN for a Vietnamese account or substitute one for its account number.

A SWIFT/BIC may be needed if the selected payout is routed as an international bank transfer rather than a local bank deposit. In that case, ask the recipient to confirm their receiving bank’s SWIFT/BIC, bank and branch information, account number, exact account name and any address the bank requires. A SWIFT/BIC belongs to a particular bank; do not use a code found for another Vietnamese bank. Enter a local bank code only if the Coinepay form requests one, and confirm the correct value with the receiving bank. Do not replace a requested account number with an unrelated routing code.

The safest approach is to follow the fields displayed for the specific bank payout you select. If the recipient cannot identify a requested bank detail, pause and check with their bank or Coinepay support rather than guessing.

How to send from Australia to Vietnam

  1. Sign in and begin a transfer. Open Global Remittance in the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app. Make sure your account verification is complete and select the option to send money.
  2. Choose the destination and currency. Set Australia as the sending country and Vietnam as the destination. Enter the amount and review the sending and receiving currencies displayed. If you want the recipient to receive VND, verify that VND is shown for the payout you choose.
  3. Choose a payout method. Select bank deposit, mobile wallet or cash pickup from the options shown for your transfer. The available banks, wallets and pickup arrangements may depend on the details entered, so use the choices displayed in the app.
  4. Enter recipient details. Type the recipient’s full legal name and the bank account, wallet or pickup information requested. Compare each field against details supplied directly by the recipient, especially account digits, bank selection and mobile number. Provide a truthful purpose of transfer if asked.
  5. Review before confirming. Check the recipient, payout method, currencies and amounts. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm. Read that review screen carefully, including any instructions or document requests, and confirm only when the details are correct.
  6. Track the transfer. After confirmation, follow its status in the Coinepay dashboard or app. Keep the transfer reference shown there. If cash pickup is selected, share the necessary pickup instructions with the named recipient through a secure channel; they should follow the instructions for the actual pickup provider and bring the required ID.

What the recipient should expect

Bank deposit

The recipient should check the nominated Vietnamese account for the incoming payment and ask their bank about any receiving requirements. Their bank may ask for evidence of the transfer’s purpose or apply its own account policies. The sender should not assume that a transfer marked as sent has already appeared in the recipient’s account; use Coinepay’s status tracking and have the recipient check with their bank if necessary.

Mobile wallet

The recipient needs access to the selected wallet and should confirm that its registered name and mobile number match the details you enter. MoMo is an example of a local wallet to look for, but the wallet choices for an Australia-to-Vietnam transfer must be checked during setup. The wallet provider may have its own verification and receiving requirements. If the preferred wallet is not displayed, choose another available payout method with the recipient rather than entering its details under a different wallet.

Cash pickup

The recipient normally needs to visit the designated pickup location, present valid government-issued photo ID and provide the transfer details requested by the pickup provider. Agent opening hours, identification requirements, available currency and local checks can affect collection. Tell the recipient to check the pickup instructions attached to the actual transfer; do not assume that a reference format used by a different remittance provider applies to Coinepay.

Troubleshooting an Australia-to-Vietnam transfer

  • Wrong recipient details: If you spot an incorrect name, account number, bank or wallet identifier, check the transfer status and contact Coinepay support promptly with the reference and correct details. Do not assume confirmed details can be edited or that a transfer can be stopped. The receiving institution may reject and return a payment with mismatched information.
  • Compliance review: Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and applicable local regulations. Coinepay may request documents establishing the purpose of payment or source of funds. Respond accurately through the requested channel; do not send to another person on the recipient’s behalf to avoid a review.
  • Transfer taking longer than expected: Check its status first. Sender funding, security checks, weekends or public holidays in either country, receiving-bank processing and recipient action can all affect progress. For cash pickup, also ask the recipient to check the location’s hours and ID requirements. If the status does not explain the issue, contact support with the transfer reference.
  • Returned or rejected transfer: Ask the recipient to verify their details with their bank or wallet provider. A receiving bank can reject a payment even when the entered details appear correct; the recipient may need to ask that bank for its reason. Check Coinepay’s status and contact support for the next steps before starting a replacement transfer.

Coinepay sends transfers to every country and region except jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions, and it does not serve sanctioned persons. For this Vietnam transfer, enter the true sender and recipient details and follow any verification or reporting requirements that apply. If you need help selecting a payout method or interpreting a status update, use Coinepay support.

FAQ

Do I need a Vietnamese IBAN to send to a bank account?

No. Vietnam has no national IBAN format listed in the Swift IBAN Registry. Use the recipient’s bank account number and the other details requested for the selected payout.

Does a Vietnam bank deposit require a SWIFT/BIC?

A local VND deposit generally uses the recipient’s account name, bank name and account number. If the selected transfer requests a SWIFT/BIC, confirm that code and any branch details with the receiving bank.

Can the recipient receive money in a Vietnamese mobile wallet?

Coinepay supports mobile-wallet payouts. Check the wallets displayed when setting up your Australia-to-Vietnam transfer, then enter the recipient’s matching registered details.

What should I do if I entered the wrong account number?

Check the transfer status and contact Coinepay support promptly with the transfer reference. Do not assume a confirmed transfer can be changed or stopped.

What does the recipient need for cash pickup?

They should follow the pickup instructions for the transfer, bring valid government-issued photo ID and provide any transfer reference or details requested by the pickup provider.
