ThemeForest sells individual themes and templates through Envato Market. It is not a ThemeForest subscription: you choose an item and pay for that purchase. This guide explains how to prepare a Coinepay virtual card, complete ThemeForest checkout, and investigate a declined payment without bypassing payment or regional checks.

What you need before buying

  • An Envato account. You can sign in or create one during the purchase process. Use your real account and billing information.
  • A Coinepay account with identity verification completed. Registration and KYC are required before using Coinepay card services. You can manage your card in the Coinepay app or 24/7 self-service dashboard.
  • The right item and license. Check the item page for its features, software requirements, support terms, and license choices before you pay.
  • Enough available funds for the entire checkout total. Allow for the item, applicable tax, any handling fee, and possible currency conversion. Review the final amount rather than relying on the item-page price alone.

To get started with Coinepay, register for an account. Once you have completed the required verification, check the app or dashboard for your virtual card number, expiry date, and CVV. Card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions. If you need information about your card’s applicable costs or settings, check the app or contact Coinepay support.

Choose a ThemeForest item and license

ThemeForest items are priced individually by their authors. Most themes offer a Regular License for one end product that users can access without paying, and an Extended License for one end product that users pay to access. Envato notes an exception under which a blogging theme may be used for a paywalled blog with a Regular License. Read the license terms for your intended use before choosing; the fact that you are buying a theme for a business does not, by itself, tell you which license to select.

There is no single ThemeForest plan price. As an example, at the time of writing (October 2026), the Avada listing showed US$69 for a Regular License and US$2,950 for an Extended License, before applicable tax and handling fees. Authors can change prices, so check the current ThemeForest item page and the total at checkout. Envato says Market transactions are processed in USD, including when a buyer pays from another currency; a payment provider may apply conversion charges.

How to pay for ThemeForest with Coinepay

  1. Open the item on ThemeForest. Read its description, compatibility information, license options, and what support is included. Select the license appropriate for the end product you plan to make.
  2. Start checkout. Select Buy Now for one item, or Add to Cart if you are purchasing several items. Sign in to your Envato account or create one when prompted.
  3. Enter your real billing details. Check the name, address, and country you provide. You can edit billing details during checkout; for future purchases, Envato also places them under your name → Settings → Personal Information. Changes saved there apply to future purchases.
  4. Select direct card payment. Envato lists Visa, Mastercard, and American Express for direct card checkout. Before buying, confirm that your Coinepay card meets the payment requirements shown for your checkout. Contact Coinepay support if you need help confirming your card meets them. Enter the card number, expiry date, and CVV displayed in Coinepay. Do not substitute an invented billing address to try to make a payment pass.
  5. Review the full order. Check the item, license, billing details, tax, handling fee if applicable, and final amount before confirming. ThemeForest’s displayed item price includes the buyer fee but excludes applicable tax and handling fees. Envato calculates applicable tax at checkout based on factors including billing location and, in some cases, payment method.
  6. Complete any payment verification. If checkout asks you to authenticate the transaction, follow the instructions presented. Confirm the purchase only after you are satisfied with the final total. Once the order is complete, find the purchased file in your Envato account’s Downloads section.

Envato may offer Save card for next time at checkout; it is optional. If you save a card, Envato says you can remove it at checkout or in Envato Market Settings. You do not need to save it to make a one-time purchase.

What if the card is declined?

A decline does not, on its own, identify the cause. Envato cites mismatched account or payment details, restrictions on overseas transactions, currency conversion, and a decline by the payment provider among common payment problems. Avoid repeated attempts without checking the details first, and use any information shown at checkout when contacting support.

Insufficient available balance

Compare your available funds with the final checkout amount, not just the listed item price. Envato’s published handling-fee schedule lists $1 for orders under $10, $3 for orders from $10 through $150, and no handling fee for orders over $150; check the amount actually displayed for your order. Tax may also apply, and conversion may affect what you need to fund. Check your available balance and relevant card information in Coinepay before retrying.

Billing details do not match

Review the billing name, address, and country you entered against your real details. Envato identifies mismatched account or payment details as a possible cause of payment trouble. Correct an error during checkout, or update details under your name → Settings → Personal Information for future purchases. Do not use someone else’s details or change your stated country to work around a check.

Authentication or 3-D Secure does not complete

If a 3-D Secure or other card-authentication step appears, complete it using the instructions provided during checkout. An interrupted or unsuccessful authentication can prevent the purchase from finishing. Return to the order to check whether it completed before trying again. If the verification cannot be completed, note what happened and ask Coinepay support for help with the card transaction; for a checkout-page issue, contact Envato support.

Card requirements or merchant region checks

Check that the direct card payment option shown at checkout supports your card. Envato lists Visa, Mastercard, and American Express for direct card purchases; it does not list other brands for direct checkout. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets this requirement before you buy. Do not assume that having a virtual card overrides the merchant’s payment checks.

Envato also restricts access from certain locations, including Iran, Cuba, Syria, North Korea, Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk, and says its list is not exhaustive. Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions. If a region check prevents checkout, follow the merchant’s rules and ask Envato support whether you are eligible to purchase; do not try to mask your location or billing country.

After purchase: downloads, refunds, and account access

Check Downloads in your Envato account for the purchased item. Keep your purchase record and check the author’s documentation before installing the theme. A ThemeForest item purchase does not create a recurring ThemeForest plan, so there is no ThemeForest subscription to cancel. An Envato subscription is a separate service.

If something is wrong with the item, submit a refund request through Envato. Requests are reviewed case by case: an item that is broken, materially different from its description, or unavailable for download may qualify, while changing your mind or buying the wrong item generally does not. Envato says requests made more than 180 days after a supported ThemeForest-item purchase, or 30 days after an unsupported one, generally do not qualify. An approved refund voids the item license; a declined request can be disputed. Residents of the EU or UK should also check Envato’s 14-day withdrawal terms before downloading, accessing, installing, or using the item, since doing so may affect full-refund eligibility.

Closing an Envato Market account is different from requesting a refund and permanently removes access to past purchases and update downloads. If you are unsure whether a payment succeeded or where your purchase appears, check your Envato account before making another purchase.

FAQ

Is ThemeForest a monthly subscription?

No. ThemeForest sells individual Envato Market items. An Envato subscription is a separate service.

Which ThemeForest license should I choose?

Most themes use a Regular License for one end product users can access without paying, or an Extended License for one they pay to access. Check Envato’s license terms for exceptions and your intended use.

Why is my checkout total higher than the item price?

The listed item price excludes applicable tax and handling fees. Review the final checkout total; currency conversion may also affect the amount you pay.

What should I do if my Coinepay card is declined?

Check your available funds against the full total, verify your real billing details, complete any authentication step, and confirm the card meets checkout requirements. Contact Coinepay support for card-transaction help or Envato support for checkout issues.

Where can I download my ThemeForest purchase?

After a successful purchase, find the item in the Downloads section of your Envato account.
