To send money to Nepal with Coinepay Global Remittance, you need a verified account and accurate details for the person receiving the money. Nepal’s local currency is the Nepalese rupee (NPR). This guide explains how to prepare a bank, mobile-wallet or cash-pickup transfer, review it before confirming and follow its status afterward.

What you need before you start

Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before making a transfer. You can manage transfers through the Coinepay self-service dashboard or mobile app. Use your real identity and provide a truthful reason for the payment if asked.

Ask the recipient for their full legal name as it appears on their bank or wallet record, or on the identification they will use for cash pickup. Confirm which payout method they can use before entering their details. The information needed depends on the payout route shown in the app:

  • Bank deposit: The recipient’s account name, bank name, branch and account number. If the selected route calls for a SWIFT wire, you may also need the bank’s SWIFT/BIC, the recipient’s address and the remittance purpose. Enter a local bank or branch code only if the payout instructions request one.
  • Mobile wallet: The recipient’s name and the mobile number registered to the eligible wallet. Confirm that the wallet is active and meets its provider’s identity-verification requirements.
  • Cash pickup: The recipient’s legal name and any other details requested for the selected pickup provider. The recipient will need identification and the collection information supplied after the transfer is arranged.

Do not invent an IBAN for a Nepalese account. Nepal does not use a national IBAN account format. Use the account number and bank details supplied by the receiving bank. Likewise, do not substitute another country’s routing-code format for a Nepalese bank or branch detail. If a field is unclear, ask the recipient to confirm it with their bank and check the instructions in Coinepay before submitting.

Choose a payout method in Nepal

Coinepay supports transfers to Nepal through bank deposit, mobile-wallet payout and cash pickup. The specific providers and payout options displayed can depend on the sending country and transfer route, so make your choice from the options shown in the app.

Bank-account deposit

Choose bank deposit when the recipient wants money paid into a Nepalese bank account. Obtain the name on the account, the bank and branch, and the account number exactly as the bank records them. Nepalese account-number formats vary by bank; a digit range used by one provider for its NPR payouts is not a rule for every account. Copy the number from the recipient’s bank details rather than trying to reformat it.

If your chosen route requests a SWIFT/BIC, confirm that code with the receiving bank. A SWIFT receipt may also require the beneficiary’s address, a stated purpose for the remittance or supporting documents. The recipient should check that their bank’s identity records are current, because a mismatch or incomplete record can delay acceptance of an incoming payment.

Mobile-wallet payout

A wallet payout can be useful when the recipient uses a supported Nepalese wallet. eSewa and Khalti by IME are examples of local wallets that describe remittance receipt on participating routes. Check whether the intended wallet appears as a payout option for your transfer in Coinepay; do not assume every wallet is available on every route.

For eSewa, confirm that the mobile number you enter is the number registered to the recipient’s wallet. An unregistered number cannot receive a direct eSewa wallet payout. eSewa also requires recipients to complete wallet KYC for its remittance payouts and may request identity proof, such as a citizenship certificate or passport. For any wallet, ask the recipient to check their account status and the provider’s current receipt requirements before you send.

Cash pickup

Choose cash pickup if the recipient intends to collect the transfer from an available payout location rather than receive it in an account or wallet. Check the pickup provider and location shown for the route before confirming. Enter the recipient’s name exactly as it appears on the valid ID they will present.

When the transfer is ready for collection, give the recipient only the collection details intended for them, such as the transfer reference and sender information requested by the pickup provider. Providers commonly check a reference number, valid ID and transfer details before releasing cash. The recipient should confirm the location’s requirements before visiting; the collection process may differ by provider.

How to send money to Nepal step by step

  1. Sign in to your verified Coinepay account. Open Global Remittance in the dashboard or mobile app and start a new transfer. If you have not finished identity verification, complete the steps presented before proceeding.
  2. Select Nepal and the currency. Set Nepal as the destination and choose the sending and receiving currencies offered for your route. If the recipient expects a local payout, check that the receiving amount is displayed in NPR.
  3. Select the payout method. Choose from the bank, wallet or cash-pickup options displayed. Check the selected bank, wallet or pickup provider before entering the recipient’s details.
  4. Enter the recipient information. Use their full legal name and the account, registered wallet number or pickup details requested on screen. Add the payment purpose and any other information requested. Compare the entries with details provided directly by the recipient.
  5. Review the transfer. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm. Read the displayed send amount, recipient amount, payout method and recipient details together. If anything is wrong, go back and correct it before confirming.
  6. Confirm and track it. Submit the transfer only after the review is complete. Use the status tracking in the Coinepay dashboard or app to follow its progress, and keep the transfer reference available if you need help.

Recipient-side checks and transfer reviews

Tell the recipient which payout method you selected so they know where to look for the funds or how to prepare for collection. A bank recipient may need to respond to questions from their bank about the sender, payment purpose or supporting documents. A wallet recipient may need to finish the wallet provider’s KYC process. A cash-pickup recipient should bring the ID and collection details required by the selected provider.

Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and applicable local regulations. Coinepay may request documents showing the purpose of the transfer or the source of funds. Nepalese remittance providers also have obligations to check that incoming funds have a legitimate source. Answer requests accurately and use the document-submission process you are given; do not send money on behalf of someone else to avoid a review.

If you are paying an organisation rather than an individual, check its receipt requirements before sending. For example, a Nepalese social organisation receiving support from abroad may need Social Welfare Council pre-approval. Requirements for an overseas payment for services can also differ from those for a family remittance. The recipient can ask their bank or an appropriate adviser what applies to their particular payment.

Troubleshooting a Nepal transfer

  • Recipient details are wrong: Check the transfer status and contact Coinepay support promptly with the transfer reference. Do not assume a submitted payment can be edited or recalled. An invalid account detail may lead to a return, while a wrong but valid account can require an investigation.
  • A wallet payout is not arriving: Ask the recipient to verify the registered wallet number, account name and wallet KYC status. If the selected wallet provider cannot match the details, contact support rather than starting a duplicate transfer.
  • The transfer is under review: Check for requests for identity, source-of-funds or purpose-of-payment documents. Supply accurate information through the requested channel. The recipient may also need to answer questions from their bank or payout provider.
  • The status has not changed: Look at the latest status in Coinepay. Bank processing, currency conversion, intermediary-bank steps or time-zone differences can affect progress. If the status needs explanation, ask support and provide the reference.
  • The transfer is returned or rejected: Review any reason shown in the app or supplied by support. Confirm corrected details with the recipient and their bank or wallet provider before attempting a new transfer. Check any new transfer’s displayed rate and fees before confirming it.

For route-specific payout instructions or help with an existing transfer, use Coinepay support. Keep your reference number handy, but share sensitive account or identity information only through an appropriate support channel.
