Coinepay supports transfers to Haiti by bank deposit, mobile wallet and cash pickup. The details you need depend on how the recipient wants to receive the money. This guide explains what to prepare, how to review the transfer before sending, and what to do if a payout is delayed or returned.
What you need before sending money to Haiti
Start with a Coinepay account and complete any identity verification requested in the app. Have the recipient’s full legal name ready, spelled as it appears on their bank account, wallet registration or identity document. Ask the recipient to confirm their details directly rather than relying on an old transfer record.
Depending on the payout method, you may also need:
- Bank deposit: The recipient’s bank name and account number, plus any branch information, bank SWIFT/BIC, intermediary-bank instructions, address or mobile number requested for that route.
- Mobile wallet: The recipient’s registered wallet name, full legal name and wallet-linked mobile number.
- Cash pickup: The recipient’s name as shown on a valid photo ID and any contact or pickup-location details requested in the app.
Transfer availability and required fields can vary by route. Use the fields shown in Coinepay for your selected payout method, and check unfamiliar bank instructions with the recipient’s bank before confirming.
Choose a payout method in Haiti
Bank deposit
For a deposit, ask the recipient to copy the account number from their bank’s own instructions for receiving funds from abroad. Haiti has no national IBAN format in the international IBAN registry, so do not invent an IBAN or replace the bank-provided account number with one. There is no single account-number length you should assume for every Haitian bank.
An international bank transfer may require the receiving bank’s SWIFT/BIC. For example, UNIBANK publishes UBNKHTPP for its own incoming wires; that code must not be used for an account at another bank. Some banks also provide an intermediary bank and separate “for credit to” instructions. If the recipient’s bank supplies those details, enter them only in the appropriate fields or ask Coinepay support how to provide them. Do not treat a US intermediary bank’s ABA number or a Haitian cheque-routing number as a universal code for deposits in Haiti.
Bank name, account and branch numbers, and the recipient’s address or mobile number may also be requested. Confirm that the account can receive the selected payout currency and that the account holder’s name matches the name you enter.
Mobile wallet
Wallets used for remittance payouts in Haiti include MonCash, Natcash and LajanCash. Check the Coinepay app to see which wallet options are available for your transfer route. Choose the recipient’s actual wallet, then enter their registered legal name and wallet-linked mobile number exactly as requested. A number connected to a different wallet or person may prevent delivery.
Ask the recipient to check their wallet’s eligibility to receive an international transfer before you send. For example, MonCash says international receipt requires an identity-verified MonCash Plus account and authorization for its remittance partner. The recipient should confirm any applicable wallet requirements with their provider.
Cash pickup
Cash pickup can be useful when the recipient would rather collect funds in person. Select an available pickup option in Coinepay and enter the recipient’s legal name exactly as it appears on their valid photo ID. Once Coinepay provides the transfer details, tell the recipient which payout provider or location to use and share any pickup reference or sender details the provider requires. Do not share those details publicly.
The recipient should bring valid photo ID and check the pickup provider’s instructions before visiting. Agents may ask for transfer and sender information as well as a reference number. Opening hours, identification rules and cash availability can affect when a pickup is possible; the recipient should confirm the location’s requirements rather than assuming every agent follows the same process.
Currency and recipient-side checks
Haiti’s local currency is the Haitian gourde (HTG). Haitian central-bank rules require banks and transfer houses to pay international remittances at service points or onto payment instruments in gourdes; they also permit transfers into recipients’ US-dollar savings accounts. The currency options you can select and the way the recipient receives funds depend on the route and account. Check the payout currency displayed in Coinepay before confirming, and ask the recipient to verify that their account or wallet can receive it.
Recipients may need to prove their identity when collecting a remittance, and a payout provider may issue a receipt showing the amount, currency and exchange-rate information. For a bank deposit, the recipient can check their account activity; for a wallet payout, they can check their wallet notifications or balance. If the amount received differs from what was expected, compare the transfer confirmation with the recipient’s receipt or account entry, then contact support for help understanding the difference.
How to send money to Haiti with Coinepay
- Sign in to your verified account. Open the Coinepay app or self-service dashboard. If you have not registered, create an account and complete the identity checks requested before sending.
- Start a cross-border transfer. Choose Haiti as the destination, enter the amount and select from the currencies and payout methods offered for your route.
- Enter the recipient’s details. Choose bank deposit, mobile wallet or cash pickup, then fill in the requested fields. Double-check the legal name, account number or wallet-linked phone number. For bank delivery, verify any SWIFT/BIC, branch and intermediary instructions against information from the recipient’s bank.
- Review the transfer. Coinepay displays the exchange rate and fees before you confirm. Check the recipient, payout method, currencies and transfer details together so you know what you are authorizing.
- Confirm and track. Submit the transfer only when the information is correct. Follow its status in the Coinepay app or dashboard, and give the recipient any payout instructions they need through a private channel.
Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay may request documents concerning the purpose of a transfer or the source of funds. Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions.
Troubleshooting a Haiti transfer
The recipient’s details are wrong
If you spot a misspelled name, incorrect account number, wrong wallet-linked phone number or mismatched bank code, check the transfer status and contact Coinepay support promptly. Provide the correct details and your transfer reference. Do not assume details can be changed after confirmation: whether a correction or cancellation is possible depends on the transfer’s status and payout route. An incorrect bank account may cause a receiving bank to return the transfer.
The transfer is under review
A status showing a pending check does not necessarily mean the payout has failed. Look for a request in your Coinepay account and respond with accurate documents if asked. Identity checks, sanctions screening and local requirements can apply to both customers and counterparties. Ask the recipient to be ready to meet their bank, wallet or pickup provider’s identification requirements as well.
The recipient has not received the money
First check the transfer status, then confirm that the recipient is checking the selected destination: the correct bank account, wallet or pickup provider. For cash pickup, have the recipient check the agent’s hours, ID requirements and any instructions attached to the transfer. Bank, wallet or pickup-provider processing issues can also affect delivery. If the status and the recipient’s experience do not match, give Coinepay support the transfer reference and describe what the recipient has checked.
The transfer is returned
A receiving bank or payout provider may return funds when it cannot complete delivery, including when recipient details do not match. Track the return in Coinepay and contact support before attempting a new transfer. For a bank route involving intermediary institutions, the amount returned may differ from the amount sent. Review the reason and obtain corrected instructions from the recipient or their bank before sending again.
