Coinepay Global Remittance lets you send cross-border transfers to Kyrgyzstan, whether you are supporting family, paying a freelancer or settling with a partner. This guide explains what you need before you start, the local payout methods you can choose, and how to review, confirm and track a transfer from the Coinepay app or dashboard.
Everything runs from the 24/7 self-service dashboard and the Coinepay mobile app for iOS and Google Play. If you are new, create an account and complete identity verification (KYC) first, since remittance is only available to verified users.
Before you start: what the sender needs
To send money to Kyrgyzstan you need a verified Coinepay account and accurate details for your recipient. Getting these right the first time is the single best way to avoid delays and returns.
- Recipient's full legal name exactly as it is recorded by their bank or wallet provider. A name that differs from the bank's records can delay or return a transfer.
- Payout method — bank deposit, mobile wallet or cash pickup (see below).
- The payout details for that method: account number and bank codes for a bank deposit, a wallet identifier for a mobile wallet, or just the recipient's name for cash pickup.
- Purpose of the transfer. Coinepay may ask for the reason for the payment and, in some cases, documents showing the source of funds. All transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations.
The local currency and bank account format
Kyrgyzstan's currency is the Kyrgyz som (KGS). When you choose Kyrgyzstan as the destination, Coinepay shows you the currencies available for that corridor. The exchange rate and fees are always displayed clearly before you confirm, so you can review them first.
A Kyrgyz bank settlement account is 16 digits: a three-digit financial-institution code, an 11-digit internal account number and two check digits. Kyrgyz banks also use a domestic bank identification code known as a BIK; the first three digits of the account form the financial-institution part, and a bank may publish its full BIK separately.
Kyrgyzstan has no national IBAN format registered with SWIFT, so do not try to build or guess a KG-prefixed IBAN. Use the recipient bank's actual account number instead. For an international bank transfer you will typically need the recipient's name as recorded by the bank, the bank name, the account number and the bank's SWIFT/BIC code, plus the payment purpose and any intermediary-bank details the receiving bank specifies. Formats such as IFSC, CLABE or US routing numbers are not used for Kyrgyz accounts.
Choosing a payout method
Kyrgyzstan supports bank-account deposits, payment-card and identified electronic wallet payouts, and cash pickup. The exact options you see depend on the corridor and the recipient's details. Here is what each needs.
Bank account deposit
Funds land directly in the recipient's bank account in KGS. Ask the recipient for:
- Their full legal name as held by the bank.
- The 16-digit account number.
- The bank name and SWIFT/BIC (and the BIK if the bank requests it).
- The bank's address and any intermediary-bank information the receiving bank specifies.
If the account is denominated in a currency other than KGS, the receiving bank may need to handle the conversion manually, which can add time. Confirm the account currency with your recipient beforehand.
Mobile wallet
Identified electronic wallets are a permitted way to receive money in Kyrgyzstan. For a wallet payout you generally need the recipient's registered name and the wallet identifier (usually a mobile number tied to the account). The wallet must be verified in the recipient's own name; ask them to confirm the exact details their provider requires before you send.
Cash pickup
Accountless transfers can be paid out in cash through a participating bank or agent location. For cash pickup the recipient typically needs a valid government-issued photo ID and the transfer tracking number you share with them. Make sure the name you enter matches their ID exactly. Note that accountless money-transfer systems in Kyrgyzstan are intended for personal, non-commercial transfers; transfers in a business capacity should go through appropriate bank channels.
Step-by-step: send the transfer
- Sign in and open Global Remittance. Log in to the Coinepay app or dashboard and start a new transfer.
- Choose the destination and currency. Select Kyrgyzstan and the payout currency. In most cases recipients receive Kyrgyz som (KGS); confirm the offered payout currency on screen.
- Select the payout method. Pick bank deposit, mobile wallet or cash pickup, then enter the recipient details for that method as described above.
- Enter the recipient's information. Type the full legal name and account, wallet or ID details carefully. Double-check every digit of the 16-digit account number and the SWIFT/BIC.
- Review the exchange rate and fees. Coinepay shows the rate and fees before you confirm. Read this summary and check the amount the recipient will receive.
- Add the purpose of the transfer. Provide the reason for sending and upload any supporting documents if prompted.
- Confirm. Once you are satisfied the details are correct, confirm the transfer.
- Track the status. Every transfer has status tracking in the app. For cash pickup, share the tracking number with your recipient.
Recipient-side considerations
Participating banks and transfer operators in Kyrgyzstan must verify sender and recipient identification and keep records of each transfer, including the recipient, purpose and amount. Financial institutions report suspicious activity to the national financial intelligence unit. These checks are routine; they simply mean your recipient should use their real identity and be ready to show ID when collecting funds. Tax treatment of money received from abroad varies by individual circumstances, so your recipient may wish to seek local advice if they are unsure.
Troubleshooting
Wrong or mismatched recipient details
An incorrect account number or SWIFT code, or a recipient name that does not match the bank's records, is the most common cause of delays and returns. Re-check each field against what the recipient's bank or wallet provider shows. If a transfer is returned, the funds generally come back so you can correct the details and resend.
Compliance review
Transfers are screened against sanctions lists and may be held for identity, purpose or source-of-funds checks. If Coinepay requests documents, respond promptly to keep the transfer moving. Missing sender or recipient information can cause a bank to suspend or reject a cross-border payment.
Delays
Intermediary banks and time-zone differences can extend delivery for bank transfers, and sending to an account in a different currency can require manual handling by the receiving bank. Use the status tracker to follow progress and contact Coinepay support if a transfer appears stuck.
Returned transfers
If a bank cannot apply the payment — for example because the account is closed or the details are invalid — it may return the funds. Confirm the correct details with your recipient before resending.
Important limits on who you can send to
Coinepay sends to every country and region except those under comprehensive sanctions (such as Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria and the occupied regions of Ukraine). All customers and counterparties are screened against sanctions lists, and Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons. Never try to split a transfer, route it through a third party or otherwise work around these checks.

FAQ
What details do I need to send money to a bank account in Kyrgyzstan?
You need the recipient's full legal name as held by their bank, the 16-digit Kyrgyz account number, the bank name and its SWIFT/BIC code (and the BIK if requested), plus the payment purpose. Kyrgyzstan has no IBAN, so use the account number rather than a KG-prefixed IBAN.
Which payout methods can my recipient in Kyrgyzstan use?
You can choose bank account deposit, an identified mobile wallet, or cash pickup at a participating bank or agent. The options shown depend on the corridor and recipient details. For cash pickup, the recipient needs a valid government ID and the tracking number.
What currency will my recipient get?
Kyrgyzstan's local currency is the Kyrgyz som (KGS), and bank deposits usually arrive in KGS. The payout currency and the exchange rate and fees are shown in the Coinepay app before you confirm, so you can review them first.
Why might my transfer to Kyrgyzstan be delayed or returned?
Common causes are an incorrect account number or SWIFT code, a name that doesn't match the bank's records, missing information, or compliance and source-of-funds checks. Intermediary banks and currency conversion can also add time. Use the status tracker and contact support if needed.
Do I need to verify my identity to send money with Coinepay?
Yes. You must register and complete KYC before using remittance. Every transfer is also subject to sanctions screening and local regulations, and Coinepay may ask for the purpose or source of funds.
