You can enter a Coinepay virtual card when signing up for a Thinkific creator plan, but the payment still has to meet Thinkific’s card requirements and pass its checkout checks. This guide covers what to check before subscribing, how to complete checkout, and what to do if a payment fails. It focuses on paying for your own Thinkific plan, not buying a course from an individual creator.

Before you subscribe: check the plan and card requirements

Thinkific’s public plans for new creator subscriptions are Basic, Start, Grow, and Thinkific Plus. Basic, Start, and Grow offer monthly and annual billing choices through the pricing page. Thinkific Plus directs you to its sales team for a quote. Thinkific advertises a 30-day trial for Basic, Start, and Grow; these plans can be cancelled during the trial. Review the terms shown during sign-up so you know when billing begins and what you will owe if you continue.

At the time of writing (October 2026), Thinkific listed US prices of $54 per month or $475 per year for Basic, $109 per month or $978 per year for Start, and $219 per month or $1,968 per year for Grow. Prices and the amount presented at checkout may differ by location or change. Check Thinkific’s official pricing page and your checkout total before confirming.

Thinkific’s card rule matters: for creator plan fees, Thinkific says it accepts Visa, Mastercard, and American Express credit cards, as well as debit cards with credit capabilities, such as Visa Debit. It says Discover, PayPal, and e-transfer cannot be used to pay those plan fees. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets Thinkific’s requirement before you buy. Do not assume that a card accepted for another online subscription will be accepted here.

  • Set up Coinepay first. Register for Coinepay and complete identity verification before using its card services. You can manage your account through the self-service dashboard or the Coinepay app for iOS or Android.
  • Have your card details ready. Coinepay provides a virtual card number, expiry date, and CVV. Check the available balance against the amount Thinkific shows for your selected billing interval.
  • Use your real details. Have your actual name, contact information, and billing address ready. Enter the billing details associated with your payment method; do not substitute an address from another country to try to pass a regional check.
  • Confirm eligibility. Check that Thinkific offers the plan and checkout option you need in your location, and ask Coinepay support if you are unsure whether your card is suitable for this merchant.

How to sign up for Thinkific and pay with your card

  1. Open Thinkific’s official pricing page. Compare Basic, Start, and Grow, then select monthly or annual billing for the plan you want. If you need Thinkific Plus, follow its sales-quote route rather than expecting a standard self-service checkout.
  2. Start the trial or sign-up process. Use the trial button associated with your chosen plan. Follow Thinkific’s on-screen prompts to create or access your creator account. The sign-up screens can change, so rely on the details displayed in your session rather than looking for a particular form layout.
  3. Review the checkout summary. Verify the plan, billing interval, trial terms, currency, amount, and renewal information shown by Thinkific. An annual selection means checking the annual total, not just a monthly equivalent displayed for comparison.
  4. Enter your Coinepay card details. Copy the card number, expiry date, and CVV from your Coinepay dashboard or app into Thinkific’s card fields. Provide your real billing information exactly as required by checkout, and check for typing errors before submitting.
  5. Complete any security prompt. If checkout requests additional cardholder authentication, follow the prompt and return to Thinkific to see whether the transaction completed. Do not repeatedly resubmit while an authentication step is still pending.
  6. Confirm the result. Look for Thinkific’s confirmation and check your creator account’s subscription status. If the screen times out or gives an unclear result, verify whether the plan was activated before trying again, so you do not create unnecessary duplicate attempts.

Keep enough available balance for the payment Thinkific presents, including later renewals if you continue on a paid plan. A successful trial sign-up does not establish that a later renewal will succeed; payment details can expire, balances can change, and issuers may review recurring transactions separately.

How to update your Thinkific card or manage the plan

In Thinkific’s Admin Dashboard, go to Account → Account Management → Update Credit Card to replace the card used for your creator subscription. Use Manage Subscription in Account Management to change or cancel your plan. If you replace a card after a failed payment, check your subscription status afterward rather than assuming the overdue charge was automatically collected.

The Site Owner can cancel a creator plan without a cancellation penalty. According to Thinkific’s cancellation guidance, future renewals stop and paid-plan access continues through the current billing period, although add-ons may end immediately. Cancellation of your creator plan does not by itself cancel recurring payments that your learners have set up for your products; handle those separately if you do not intend them to continue.

Thinkific’s terms generally do not provide refunds for creator plans except where the charge resulted from its error or applicable law gives you a right to one. Review the current terms before choosing annual billing, and contact Thinkific about a charge or cancellation question related to your subscription.

Why a Thinkific card payment may be declined

A decline does not always identify the exact problem. Thinkific lists insufficient funds, issuer declines, expired cards, incorrect CVC, and cards reported lost or stolen among reasons a creator-plan payment can fail. Work through the checks below rather than changing details at random.

  • Insufficient available balance: compare your available balance with the full amount shown for the monthly or annual option you selected. Add funds through an available Coinepay funding method or choose a different billing interval in Thinkific if appropriate, then try again.
  • Incorrect card information or billing mismatch: recopy the card number, expiry, and CVV, and correct any typo in your real name or billing address. If you recently changed your address, make sure the details you submit reflect your actual billing information.
  • 3-D Secure or another authentication step: finish the security prompt if one appears. If it closes, fails to load, or returns you to checkout without confirmation, check the payment status before making another attempt. Ask Coinepay support for help with a card-authentication issue.
  • Merchant or region checks: Thinkific’s accepted card categories apply specifically to creator plan fees. A payment may also be reviewed or restricted based on the merchant’s location rules or card checks. Do not change your country or address to get around a restriction. Confirm the applicable requirements with Thinkific and ask Coinepay support whether your card meets them.
  • Generic issuer decline: Thinkific notes that some issuer declines come with little detail. If the card details and balance look right, give Coinepay support the time, amount, and any message shown, without sending your full card number or CVV in a support message.

If you are instead buying a course on a creator’s Thinkific site, that is a learner checkout with its own payment setup. Thinkific documents messages such as “The payment was declined. Please contact your bank and try again” and “Secure authentication couldn’t be completed. Please try again” for learner purchases. Payment methods can vary by creator, location, and purchase type; a card accepted for a course is not necessarily accepted for Thinkific creator plan fees.

Keep creator billing separate from learner purchases

If you run a Thinkific site, your Account Management settings control your Thinkific creator subscription. Learners who purchase your courses or memberships generally manage their own saved cards and recurring payments on your site through profile → My Account → Billing. Their purchases are from your business, so your disclosed return or cancellation policy is relevant to their refund questions. Use the appropriate account and billing screen when investigating a charge.

FAQ

Can I use a Coinepay virtual card for a Thinkific creator plan?

You can enter its details at checkout, but acceptance is not assured. Thinkific restricts plan payments to specified credit cards and debit cards with credit capabilities. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets those requirements before buying.

Where do I change the card for my Thinkific subscription?

In the Thinkific Admin Dashboard, go to Account → Account Management → Update Credit Card.

Does Thinkific offer a Free plan for new creator sign-ups?

Thinkific advertises a 30-day trial for Basic, Start, and Grow rather than a new Free plan. Check its current pricing page and the terms shown at sign-up.

What should I do if Thinkific declines my card?

Check the available balance, card number, expiry, CVV, real billing address, and any authentication prompt. If it still fails, ask Coinepay support about the card and Thinkific about its checkout requirements.
