Poshmark is a social marketplace for buying and selling fashion, accessories and home goods in the United States and Canada. Whether you are checking out as a buyer or funding a seller tool like Promoted Closet, you pay with a saved card. This guide shows how to use a Coinepay virtual card on Poshmark, where the payment settings live, and how to work through a declined-card message.
What you need before you start
Poshmark operates only in the U.S. and Canada; it closed its UK, Australian and Indian marketplaces in October 2023. During sign-up you choose the United States or Canada as your default shopping country, and your billing and shipping details should match the country you select. To pay with a Coinepay card, have the following ready:
- A registered Coinepay account with identity verification (KYC) completed. If you have not signed up yet, create your account and finish verification first.
- A virtual card issued in your Coinepay dashboard, with its card number, expiry date and CVV visible.
- Enough available balance on the card to cover the item plus shipping and any tax.
- Your real billing address, entered exactly as it appears on your Coinepay account.
Poshmark lists Visa, Mastercard and American Express among accepted card brands (U.S. checkout also lists Discover and JCB), alongside wallet and pay-later options. Because Poshmark may apply its own checks on the card type or issuing region, and merchant acceptance can vary, it is worth confirming your card fits before a big purchase. Contact Coinepay support if you want to check your card details against a merchant requirement.
Step 1: Create or sign in to your Poshmark account
On the Poshmark signup page you can register with Facebook, Google, Apple or email, and you are asked to pick the United States or Canada as your default shopping country. Choose the country where you actually live and will receive items. Use your real name and details—accurate information helps payment and address checks pass later.
Step 2: Add your Coinepay virtual card
You can save a card before checkout or add it during the purchase:
- In the app: go to Me → Shopper Settings → Payment Methods.
- On the web: click your profile picture, then Account Settings → My Payment Methods.
- At checkout: use the Change option beside the selected payment method to add a new card.
Copy the card number, expiry and CVV from your Coinepay dashboard, and enter the billing address exactly as it appears on your Coinepay account. A mismatch here is one of the most common reasons a card is rejected.
Step 3: Buy an item or make an offer
Once your card is saved, you have two ways to pay for a listing:
- Buy Now: open the listing, select Buy Now, enter or confirm your payment and shipping details, then press Submit. Payment is processed immediately.
- Make an Offer: submit an offer with your payment and shipping details attached. Your card is only charged if the seller accepts the offer.
Standard buyer shipping at the time of writing (October 2026) is US$6.49 in the U.S. In Canada it is C$12.49 for Canada Post home delivery, or C$6.99 for Purolator pickup where the seller has enabled it, plus applicable Canadian taxes. These are shipping charges, not membership fees—check the current rates on Poshmark's own help pages, as they can change.
Paying for Promoted Closet as a seller
If you sell on Poshmark, listing items is free, and Poshmark takes its cut from each sale rather than charging an upfront plan. At the time of writing (October 2026), the U.S. seller fee is US$2.95 on sales below US$15 or 20% on sales of US$15 or more; in Canada it is C$3.95 on sales below C$20 or 20% on sales of C$20 or more, with GST/HST added. Sellers in Texas also pay an additional Texas Seller Fee Tax. Always confirm current fees on Poshmark's official support pages.
The optional paid seller tool is Promoted Closet, where you set a recurring seven-day budget and pay a variable cost per click up to that budget. To start it, eligible sellers go to Seller Tools → Marketing & Promotions → Promoted Closet → Start Free Trial, add payment details and begin; after the trial it renews weekly unless stopped. Promoted Closet accepts credit or debit cards—Posh Credits and redeemable balances cannot pay for it—so your Coinepay card is used here the same way.
To manage it on the web: Promoted Closet → Manage → Manage Promotion changes the budget, and Manage → Update changes the payment card; invoices appear under Manage. Android supports budget and payment changes in-app, while iOS users are directed to the web for those changes. To avoid the next week's charge, stop at least one day before the next billing cycle—stopping does not end the current seven-day cycle, and Poshmark does not refund charges already incurred for clicks.
Troubleshooting a declined card
Poshmark may show a message that a card payment "could not be processed." It lists several possible causes; here is how to work through them with a Coinepay card:
| Cause | What to check |
|---|---|
| Mistyped details | Re-enter the card number, expiry and CVV directly from your Coinepay dashboard. A single wrong digit will fail. |
| Billing-address mismatch | Make sure the billing address in Poshmark matches the address on your Coinepay account exactly. |
| Expired card | Confirm the expiry date in the dashboard and update it in Payment Methods if it has changed. |
| Spending limit / insufficient balance | Check your available balance in the Coinepay app and top up to cover the item, shipping and tax. |
| Inactive card | Confirm the virtual card is active in your dashboard. |
| Issuer fraud decline or technical issue | Wait a few minutes and retry; if it continues, contact Coinepay support to review the authorization attempt. |
If you are prompted for a 3-D Secure confirmation during checkout, approve it through the Coinepay app so the authentication can complete. For offers specifically, Poshmark notes that a missing or incorrectly formatted shipping or billing address can also trigger an error when making or accepting an offer—this is not necessarily a card decline, so double-check both addresses first.
Also remember Poshmark serves the U.S. and Canadian marketplaces only, and Canadian orders do not ship cross-border. If your shopping country and shipping address do not line up with where you live, checkout can fail for reasons unrelated to the card. If you have ruled out the above and the payment still will not go through, reach out to Coinepay support through the dashboard or the iOS or Android app.
Cancellations and refunds to keep in mind
An unshipped ordinary Buy Now order can be canceled as accidental within three hours; accepted offers and Posh Show purchases cannot be canceled on that basis. If an order is still unshipped after seven days, you can cancel it for a full refund starting on day eight. Sales are otherwise generally final—open an in-platform case within three days of delivery for an item not received or not as described. Knowing these windows helps you decide before you commit your card.
Keeping your Coinepay card ready
Your Coinepay virtual card is managed entirely from the 24/7 self-service dashboard and mobile app, so you can check your balance, view card details and track activity before each purchase. Keep enough balance for the item plus shipping and tax, use your real billing details, and you will clear Poshmark's checks smoothly. Card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions, and some services are not available in every jurisdiction—check the app for what is available to you.

FAQ
Can I use a Coinepay virtual card to buy on Poshmark?
Yes, you can add your Coinepay card under Payment Methods and use it at checkout with Buy Now or an accepted offer. Poshmark lists Visa, Mastercard and American Express among accepted brands. Because merchant acceptance and card-type checks can vary, contact Coinepay support if you want to confirm your card before a purchase.
Where do I add or change my card on Poshmark?
In the app go to Me → Shopper Settings → Payment Methods. On the web, click your profile picture, then Account Settings → My Payment Methods. You can also use the Change option beside the selected method at checkout.
Why does Poshmark say my card could not be processed?
Common causes are mistyped card details, a billing-address mismatch, an expired or inactive card, insufficient balance, or an issuer decline. Re-enter details from your Coinepay dashboard, match the billing address exactly, confirm your balance, and approve any 3-D Secure prompt in the app.
Does Poshmark charge a subscription I pay with my card?
There is no fixed membership plan. Listing is free and Poshmark takes a fee from each sale. The optional paid seller tool, Promoted Closet, uses a weekly budget paid by credit or debit card, which renews unless you stop it at least one day before the next cycle.
Can I use Poshmark outside the U.S. and Canada?
No. Poshmark operates only in the U.S. and Canada and closed its UK, Australian and Indian marketplaces in 2023. Choose the country where you live during sign-up and use a matching shipping and billing address.
