You can start a Help Scout account without entering a card for its Free plan or a Standard or Plus trial. When you are ready to pay, you can enter a Coinepay virtual card in Help Scout’s billing settings and review the charge before confirming. Card acceptance depends on Help Scout’s checkout requirements and the result of its payment checks, so check eligibility before relying on the card for a subscription.
What you need before subscribing
- A Help Scout account and the right billing permission. Help Scout’s Account Owner has billing permission by default. If someone else manages your company’s subscription, ask them to make the change or grant the appropriate permission.
- A verified Coinepay account. Register and complete identity verification before using card services. Coinepay provides a virtual card number, expiry date and CVV through its app or self-service dashboard.
- Enough available funds. Check the amount Help Scout shows at checkout, the selected billing period and any applicable taxes before funding the payment. Leave room for charges you have enabled beyond the base subscription.
- Accurate billing information. Use your real name and billing details. Confirm that the details you enter at Help Scout match those associated with your payment account; do not substitute an address from another country to try to pass a payment check.
Help Scout lists Visa, American Express, Mastercard and Discover as accepted cards and describes in-app monthly and annual payments as accepting major credit cards. That list does not establish whether a particular Coinepay virtual card will be eligible. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets Help Scout’s card requirements before you buy, particularly if checkout specifies a card type or issuing-country requirement.
Choose a Help Scout plan and billing period
Help Scout’s current choices include Free, Standard, Plus and Pro. Free has no payment requirement and allows up to five users and 100 contacts helped per month. The published annual-billing prices, at the time of writing (October 2026), are $25 per user per month for Standard, $45 per user per month for Plus and $75 per user per month for Pro. Standard allows up to 25 users, Plus up to 50, and Pro has a 10-user minimum. These are annual-billing rates, not quotes for paying month to month. Check Help Scout’s official pricing page and the amount shown in your account before committing.
Annual payment is made up front; Help Scout says annual prepayment includes a 16% per-user discount. If you select monthly billing instead, rely on the amount displayed in Help Scout’s Monthly/Annual selector and checkout rather than multiplying an annual-billing rate. For an existing account on contact-based billing, the current per-user prices may not describe your charges; inspect Your Plan and any account-specific order.
Also review optional usage charges. Help Scout calls its AI product Scout in billing documentation and AI Answers on its pricing page. On paid plans, billable AI resolutions cost $0.75 each, billed after the usage period; new accounts receive a three-month trial. Check which AI features are active in your account so a later usage charge does not come as a surprise.
How to sign up and pay with a Coinepay virtual card
- Set up Coinepay. Register for Coinepay and complete identity verification. In the Coinepay app or dashboard, access your virtual card details and check that the funds available cover the amount you expect Help Scout to charge. You can get the app for iOS or Android.
- Start on Help Scout’s official site. On its pricing page, choose Free sign-up or a 15-day trial for Standard or Plus. Neither trial requires a credit card to start. For a Pro trial, Help Scout directs prospective customers to speak with sales. Follow the prompts for the option you choose and use your real business and account information.
- Open billing settings when you are ready to subscribe. In Help Scout, select your avatar or initials at the top right, then Your Plan. Under Plans, review the available options and the Monthly/Annual selector. If you cannot edit the subscription, ask the Account Owner or a user with billing permission.
- Enter and check the card details. On Your Plan, select Edit beside the card or contact details as appropriate. Enter the Coinepay virtual card number, expiry date and CVV, along with your genuine billing details. Check each field carefully before saving or continuing.
- Review the final charge. Verify the plan, user count, billing period, total and any renewal information displayed by Help Scout. If you are moving to annual billing, Help Scout’s documented flow is Switch to Annual, review the displayed amount, then Pay Now using the card on file. Annual card auto-renewal is on by default. Confirm only if the amount and terms work for you.
- Keep the payment record. Return to Your Plan to check the subscription and use its Invoices tab for past invoices. Monitor the Coinepay app or dashboard for the corresponding card activity.
A trial is an opportunity to check Help Scout’s features without entering a card at sign-up; it is not confirmation that a later card payment will succeed. Set a reminder to review your plan and billing choices before the trial ends.
What to check if Help Scout declines the card
Help Scout documents a “Failed Payment Error” email when a card could not be charged or no card was supplied after a trial. The message does not, by itself, identify the cause. Work through these checks rather than repeatedly submitting the same details:
- Insufficient balance: Compare your available funds with Help Scout’s displayed charge. An annual prepayment is collected up front, even when the advertised price is expressed per user per month. Check the user count, billing period, taxes and any other amount shown before trying again.
- Billing address mismatch: Reopen Your Plan and use Edit to check card and contact information. Correct typos and use your real billing address. If the payment details on your Coinepay account need updating, contact Coinepay support rather than entering an unrelated address.
- 3-D Secure or another authentication step: If checkout asks you to verify the payment, follow the instructions presented. If authentication times out or fails, check your Coinepay app or dashboard for relevant payment activity and ask support whether your card can complete the required step. Do not assume every checkout will present the same verification flow.
- Merchant card or region checks: Help Scout may evaluate whether the submitted card meets its checkout requirements. Ask Coinepay support to confirm card eligibility and contact Help Scout about any merchant-side decline. Help Scout has terminated accounts with Russia or Belarus billing addresses and blocks users located in either country; do not try to work around those restrictions with different billing details.
- Expired or mistyped details: Recheck the card number, expiry date and CVV shown in Coinepay, then update the saved card under Your Plan if needed. If a renewal failed, follow Help Scout’s email instructions and check with the card issuer or update the card.
If the cause remains unclear, provide the date, attempted amount and any message you received to Coinepay support. Share only the payment information support requests through an appropriate channel; do not send your full card number or CVV in an ordinary message. Help Scout can also help with account-side billing issues.
Manage renewal, invoices and cancellation
Use Your Plan to review your plan and payment details, and the Invoices tab to retrieve past invoices. Before changing billing frequency or adding users, review the new amount in Help Scout. If you need to leave, only the Account Owner can cancel through Your Plan → Delete Account. Deletion ends access immediately, so export needed data first. Help Scout’s cancellation guidance says account data is permanently deleted after 60 days.
Do not assume deleting an annual account cancels every payment obligation or produces a prorated refund. Help Scout’s terms describe automatic renewal unless non-renewal notice is given at least 30 days before the term ends, and generally exclude credits for unused time. A customer who decides not to use Help Scout may request a full refund within 30 days of the first payment, whether the subscription is monthly or annual. Review your account-specific terms and ask Help Scout about the correct notice or refund process before taking action.
Coinepay card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions. Service availability varies by jurisdiction; use Help Scout and Coinepay only where their respective services are available to you.
