You can use Coinepay Global Remittance to send money from Qatar to an eligible recipient in India. Before you start, ask the recipient how they want to receive it and collect the details for that payout method. This guide explains the India-specific information to check, how to review the transfer before confirming it, and what to do if the payout needs attention.
What you need before sending
Sign in to your Coinepay account in the mobile app or 24/7 self-service dashboard and complete any identity verification requested for the transfer. Use your real identity and give an accurate reason for sending the money. Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and applicable local regulations; Coinepay may request documents showing the purpose or source of funds.
Ask the recipient for their full legal name as it appears on their bank account or identity document. You will also need the payout details for the method you select. Confirm those details with the recipient rather than copying them from an old transfer: an incorrect account number, code or name can prevent payment or send the transfer into a return process.
Qatar’s currency is the Qatari riyal (QAR), and India’s local currency is the Indian rupee (INR). When setting up the transfer, check the funding and receiving currencies displayed in Coinepay. The exchange rate and fees are shown before you confirm, so review the amount the recipient is expected to receive rather than calculating it yourself.
Choose an India payout method
Coinepay supports bank deposit, mobile-wallet payouts and cash pickup across its global remittance service. Choose from the options Coinepay actually displays for your Qatar-to-India transfer: the available method and the details requested may depend on the recipient, transfer channel and local rules. Do not assume that every wallet, bank account type or cash location can receive every transfer.
Bank deposit
For a deposit to an Indian bank account, obtain the recipient’s legal account-holder name, bank name, account number and IFSC from the recipient or their bank. An IFSC is an 11-character alphanumeric Indian bank-branch code: four characters identify the bank, followed by a zero and six branch-identifying characters. Check every character, including the zero.
India does not use a national IBAN format. Enter the recipient’s Indian account number where an account number is requested; do not substitute a Qatar IBAN. Do not assume that all Indian account numbers have the same length. If the selected transfer channel asks for a SWIFT/BIC, a branch address or correspondent-bank instructions, get the exact information from the receiving bank. SWIFT/BIC instructions for a wire are not a replacement for the IFSC requested for a local Indian bank deposit.
Check the recipient’s account type too. An eligible inward remittance may be payable to an NRE or NRO account through an appropriate banking channel, but not every remittance channel can credit every account type. In particular, India’s Money Transfer Service Scheme (MTSS) cannot be used to credit an NRE account. If the recipient has an NRE or NRO account, confirm with their bank that the selected route is suitable before sending.
UPI or another displayed mobile-wallet option
If Coinepay displays UPI as a receiving option for this transfer, ask the recipient for the exact UPI ID linked to the account they intend to use and follow the app’s prompts. A UPI ID can serve as a way to direct certain inward remittances to an Indian bank account; it is not the same thing as an Indian bank account number or a cash-pickup reference. Have the recipient verify that their UPI ID is active and that the linked account can receive the payout.
If Coinepay displays a separate Indian mobile-wallet option, select its exact name and collect the recipient details requested in the app. The recipient should check that the wallet is active and has completed any verification required to receive money. Do not enter a UPI ID in a wallet-account field, or assume a wallet can receive a cross-border transfer simply because it handles domestic payments. If the desired option is not displayed, choose an available method or ask Coinepay support about the route.
Cash pickup
Choose cash pickup only if Coinepay offers it for the transfer you are setting up. Enter the recipient’s full legal name exactly as it appears on the identity document they will present. Once the transfer is ready for collection, tell the recipient the pickup instructions and reference provided for that transfer. They should check the listed pickup location’s requirements and bring an accepted, valid identity document; the pickup agent may also ask for the reference and other transfer details.
Indian rules differ by remittance channel: some allow eligible cash pickups, while transfers through the Rupee Drawing Arrangement must be credited to a bank account rather than paid in cash. Follow the payout choices shown in Coinepay instead of assuming that a bank-deposit transfer can later be collected in cash.
How to send money from Qatar to India
- Sign in and start a transfer. Open Coinepay Global Remittance in the app or dashboard. Complete any identity-verification prompts before proceeding.
- Set the destination and currencies. Select India as the destination. Enter the amount and check the funding and receiving currencies shown, including whether the recipient will receive INR.
- Select the payout method. Choose an available bank deposit, mobile-wallet or cash-pickup option. Enter the recipient’s legal name and the details requested for that method. For an Indian bank deposit, check the account number and IFSC against information supplied by the recipient or bank.
- State the purpose accurately. Provide the true reason for the transfer and any supporting information requested. A receiving bank may need a purpose classification for an inward remittance. For example, Indian reporting includes a category for family maintenance and savings sent by Indian non-residents; do not select it unless it describes your transfer.
- Review before confirming. Read the displayed exchange rate, fees, payout amount, recipient information and payout method. Correct errors before you submit. If you are unsure which banking code or account type applies, pause and ask the recipient’s bank or Coinepay support.
- Confirm and track. Confirm the transfer only when the details are correct. Use Coinepay’s transfer-status tracking in the app or dashboard, and retain the transfer reference for any follow-up.
What the recipient may need to do
For a bank deposit, the recipient should watch the account they supplied and respond if their bank requests information about the incoming payment or its purpose. For a UPI or wallet payout, they should check the intended linked account or wallet and complete any recipient-side verification requested by that provider. For cash pickup, they should follow the pickup instructions and present the required identification.
Receiving requirements depend on the account, payout channel and reason for payment. A payment for family support should be described as such; it should not be labelled as a business payment or donation to make it fit a different route. Business receipts and donations to an Indian organisation can involve different documentation and regulatory requirements. If the recipient is uncertain, they should ask their receiving bank or payout provider before you confirm.
Troubleshooting a transfer
- Recipient details are wrong: If you have not confirmed the transfer, correct them first. If you already confirmed, contact Coinepay support promptly with the transfer reference. Do not assume an account number or payout method can be changed after submission; an incorrect deposit may be rejected or returned.
- The transfer is under review: Check for requests in Coinepay and provide genuine documents or clarification about identity, the recipient, the purpose or source of funds. The recipient’s bank or payout provider may also need information. Do not submit another transfer to avoid the review.
- The recipient has not received the money: Check the tracked status, then ask the recipient to check the correct account, wallet or pickup instructions. Banking days, agent hours, time zones, regulatory checks and currency availability can affect processing. If the status and recipient’s information do not match, contact support with the reference.
- The transfer was returned: Review the reason shown or ask support what happened. Incorrect account details, an unsuitable payout channel or missing purpose information may prevent completion. Verify the recipient information and route before starting a new transfer; check the new rate and fees before confirming it.
Coinepay does not send to jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions or serve sanctioned persons. All customers and counterparties are screened, and a transfer remains subject to the rules that apply in Qatar, India and any payment channel used.

FAQ
Do I need an IBAN to send money to an Indian bank account?
No. India has no national IBAN format. For a local bank deposit, obtain the recipient’s Indian account number and 11-character IFSC, and enter any other details Coinepay requests.
Can I send money to a UPI ID in India?
Use a UPI ID only if Coinepay displays UPI for your Qatar-to-India transfer. Ask the recipient to verify the ID and its linked receiving account before you confirm.
Can the recipient collect cash instead of receiving a bank deposit?
Choose cash pickup when it is offered for your transfer. The recipient must follow the pickup instructions and present the identification required by the payout agent; a bank deposit cannot be assumed to convert to cash pickup.
What should I do if I entered the wrong Indian account number or IFSC?
Correct it before confirming. If you have already confirmed, contact Coinepay support promptly with the transfer reference; the payment may be rejected or returned.
Where can I check the exchange rate, fees and transfer status?
Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm the transfer. After confirmation, track its status in the Coinepay app or dashboard.
