YouTube TV is a U.S.-only streaming service. If you are eligible to subscribe and want to use a Coinepay virtual card, check YouTube TV’s card requirements before adding it at checkout. This guide covers browser sign-up, direct-billing settings and practical steps to take if a payment is declined.
Before you start: eligibility and card requirements
YouTube TV is available only in the United States. Sign-up asks you to confirm your home ZIP code or location, and the service checks location for viewing. You cannot access its programming while travelling internationally. Use your real identity, home location and billing details; a payment card does not change where YouTube TV is available.
YouTube TV’s sign-up instructions specify a credit card, and its payment guidance says prepaid credit cards are not supported. Do not assume a virtual card qualifies simply because it has a card number. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets YouTube TV’s requirement before you buy. YouTube TV makes the final decision on a payment at checkout.
To use Coinepay card services, register for Coinepay and complete identity verification. Your virtual card’s number, expiry date and CVV are available after issuance in the Coinepay app or self-service dashboard. Check the app for the card’s available funds and any applicable card settings before starting a subscription. Card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions; some Coinepay services are not available in every jurisdiction.
Choose a YouTube TV plan and review the total
The main plan is called YouTube TV; older instructions may call it the Base Plan. New subscribers may also see genre-based options such as Sports, Sports + News, Sports + Entertainment, News + Entertainment and Entertainment. The Spanish Plan is a separate, stand-alone membership, while Spanish Plus is an add-on to a YouTube TV plan. Available choices and optional premium networks affect the amount due.
At the time of writing (October 2026), the regular U.S. price shown for the main YouTube TV plan was $82.99 per month before applicable tax. Offers and plan selections can change. Check YouTube TV’s official plan and pricing page, then review the amount displayed at checkout rather than relying on an older advertised price. If an eligible trial appears, you still need to provide a payment method: the subscription charges automatically when the trial ends, and a temporary card authorization may appear during the trial.
How to sign up and pay in a browser
- Prepare your card. After completing Coinepay registration and identity verification, open your card details in the Coinepay app or dashboard. Confirm that you have enough available funds for the checkout total, including any applicable tax and selected add-ons. First confirm the card meets YouTube TV’s credit-card requirement.
- Start at YouTube TV. Visit tv.youtube.com in a browser, begin sign-up and sign in with your Google Account.
- Confirm your home area. Follow the prompts to confirm your actual home ZIP code or location. Do not enter a different location to try to obtain access or change the channels offered.
- Review your selection. Check the networks and price shown for the plan you selected. Add optional premium networks only if you want them, and read the updated checkout total and any trial terms.
- Enter payment details. At the credit-card step, enter the Coinepay card number, expiry date and CVV exactly as displayed. Use your real billing details and the billing ZIP code associated with the card; review every field for typing errors.
- Confirm the purchase. Read the final price and recurring-billing terms, then select Buy if you agree. Check your Google Account and YouTube TV membership status to verify the result before attempting the purchase again.
You cannot purchase a YouTube TV membership inside its iPhone or iPad app; use a browser for sign-up. Also, some mobile carriers and internet providers put YouTube TV charges on their own bills. If you choose provider billing, its payment process and account controls may differ from the direct card checkout described here.
How to update a card for a directly billed membership
For a subscription billed directly by YouTube TV, go to tv.youtube.com → profile picture → Settings → Billing → Update and follow the prompts to change your payment method. Check the displayed billing details before saving. A payment issue may also appear in Google Payments: look under Alerts or Activity, or open Subscriptions & services → Manage → Change payment method. An affected transaction may show Declined, and you may see a Fix Payment Method action.
If a monthly payment fails, YouTube TV says it emails you and gives you one day to fix the issue before membership benefits are lost. It then pauses the membership for 30 days while retrying charges. Act on the notice promptly rather than assuming a failed renewal has cancelled the subscription. If a carrier or internet provider bills you instead, check that provider’s billing instructions.
Troubleshoot a declined Coinepay card
A decline does not identify a single cause. Check the on-screen message, your YouTube TV or Google Payments alerts, and the card details in Coinepay before retrying. Common possibilities include:
- Insufficient available funds: Compare your available balance with the full amount shown at checkout, including tax and any premium networks. An eligible trial may also involve a temporary authorization. If funds are insufficient, address that in Coinepay before retrying; check the app or contact support for questions about a transaction or available balance.
- Billing-detail mismatch: Re-enter the CVV, expiry date and billing ZIP code carefully. An expired card, incorrect CVC or incorrect billing ZIP code can cause a decline. Use genuine billing information associated with your payment method, not a substitute address.
- Verification or 3-D Secure step: If checkout presents a card-verification challenge, follow the legitimate on-screen instructions and check for any prompt in your card account. If it fails or no prompt appears, contact Coinepay support with the time and amount of the attempt. Do not repeatedly submit the same payment or assume every checkout uses the same verification flow.
- Card-type restriction: YouTube TV specifies a credit card and does not support prepaid credit cards. If the checkout rejects the payment method, ask Coinepay support whether your card meets the stated requirement; if it does not, use another payment method that YouTube TV accepts. Do not try to work around the restriction.
- Merchant region or location checks: YouTube TV is U.S.-only and requires a home-location check. A mismatch between your real location, account information and billing details may prevent sign-up or payment. Verify your information and ask YouTube TV for help if you believe a location decision is mistaken; do not use a VPN or inaccurate address to bypass it.
If the reason remains unclear, share the decline message and transaction time with Coinepay support, without sending your full card number or CVV in an ordinary message. You can also follow the payment instructions shown in your YouTube TV or Google Payments account. Neither a successful card authorization nor an available balance guarantees that YouTube TV will accept a subscription.
Manage renewal or cancel if you change your mind
To cancel a directly billed membership, open tv.youtube.com → profile picture → Settings → Membership → Manage → Cancel membership. Access normally continues through the paid period or free trial. Cancellation does not provide a refund or credit for a partial billing period. If membership features are defective or do not perform as stated, you can request a refund through YouTube TV; an approved refund ends access immediately. For a provider-billed subscription, that provider’s refund policy applies.
Before switching plans, review the new price and billing terms. A YouTube TV plan switch takes effect immediately, may change the main plan’s billing date and forfeits a promotional price if you switch away from it. Keep sufficient funds available for future charges and use the Billing settings to maintain your payment method.
