Newegg is an electronics-focused e-commerce marketplace where you can shop as a customer or sell as a merchant. The way you pay depends on which side you are on: shoppers pay at checkout, while marketplace sellers are billed on a saved card for their membership tier. This guide explains how to use a Coinepay virtual card for both, where the relevant settings live, and how to troubleshoot a declined charge.
Before you start: what you need
A Coinepay virtual card gives you an instant card number, expiry date and CVV that you can use for online shopping and subscriptions. To create one you first need to register and complete identity verification (KYC). You can do everything from the 24/7 self-service dashboard or the mobile app.
- Register and verify: Create your account at Coinepay registration and finish KYC. Card and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions.
- Get the app: Download Coinepay for iOS or Android to manage cards on the go.
- Fund the card: Make sure there is enough balance to cover your order or your monthly seller fee before Newegg attempts the charge.
- Know your billing details: Use your real name and billing address exactly as they appear on your Coinepay account.
Services related to virtual assets are not available to residents of mainland China, and some services are not available in every jurisdiction.
Paying for a Newegg shopper order
If you are buying products as a customer, the flow is a standard online checkout:
- Sign in to your Newegg customer account and add items to your cart.
- Go to Checkout and confirm your shipping address.
- On the payment step, choose to pay by credit or debit card and enter your Coinepay card number, expiry date and CVV.
- Enter the billing address that matches your Coinepay account details.
- If a 3-D Secure verification step appears, complete it, then place your order.
Newegg's accepted-payment-methods guide (updated August 2026) lists card networks, wallets, PayPal, Venmo, gift cards, BitPay and financing for U.S. shoppers, and it notes that international card and wallet availability varies by country and by purchase type. Because acceptance differs by region and item, confirm your card works for your specific order before relying on it.
The free Newegg+ shopper membership (US$0 where eligible) is opted into through Manage Account → Newegg+ and can be canceled from the same account page; there is no paid shopper tier to charge a card for.
Paying for a Newegg seller membership
Marketplace sellers are billed differently. Membership is not bought through the shopper cart. Instead, Newegg charges the card saved on your seller account on a monthly cycle.
Seller tiers
The Elite Seller Program has three tiers: Non-Elite, Professional and Enterprise. At the time of writing (October 2026), the United States seller page shows Non-Elite with no monthly membership fee but US$0.99 per unique item sold, Professional at US$49.95/month and Enterprise at US$99.95/month. On the Canadian seller page, Non-Elite is C$1.32 per unique item sold, Professional is C$66.51/month and Enterprise is C$138.95/month. Other selling fees can apply, and prices vary by region, so always confirm the current amount on Newegg's official seller pricing page or from a Seller Portal quote before you commit.
Published listing allowances are 100 items for Non-Elite, 6,000 for Professional and 12,000 for Enterprise. Effective January 1, 2026, Newegg introduced optional excess-listing (overage) fees charged per item above those allowances, plus tax.
Add your Coinepay card to the seller account
- Complete seller sign-up: submit an application with your business, ownership, store and financial information, and wait for review until your account becomes Active.
- In the Seller Portal, go to username → Account Settings → Financial Information → Credit Card.
- Click "ADD/EDIT CREDIT CARD INFORMATION" and enter your Coinepay card details and billing address.
- Saved cards can be edited, removed or selected from this screen.
Select or change your tier
A new seller defaults to Non-Elite. To upgrade you need Active status, then open Seller Portal → username → Membership Settings and choose "SELECT THIS TIER" under Professional or Enterprise. Newegg bills the seller card monthly on the 21st for the upcoming calendar month, and you can review charges under Reports → Payments → Transaction Detail → "Monthly Fee."
Card requirements for seller charges
For seller charges on the U.S. platform, Newegg lists Visa, Mastercard and American Express, plus Discover Network (UnionPay, JCB and Diners Club). It states the Discover Network group does not apply to Newegg.ca. Newegg also requires that the card supports international payments, matches the platform currency (USD or CAD) and has sufficient credit.
Because Newegg requires a card that supports international payments and the correct platform currency, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets these requirements before you save it to your seller account.
Whether Newegg accepts PayPal, bank transfer, gift card or shopper financing for seller fees is not something these notes confirm; the card on file is the documented method for membership billing. Note too that the card you use to pay fees is separate from the settlement method used to receive your sales proceeds.
Troubleshooting a declined card
If a charge fails, work through the most common causes below.
| Cause | What to check |
|---|---|
| Insufficient balance | Top up your Coinepay card so it covers the full amount, including any applicable selling or overage fees and tax, before the next attempt. |
| Billing address mismatch | Make sure the billing address on Newegg matches your Coinepay account exactly. |
| 3-D Secure not completed | Finish any additional verification prompt during checkout; an abandoned step can cancel the authorization. |
| Currency or international capability | Seller charges need a card that supports international payments and the platform currency (USD or CAD). Confirm this with Coinepay support. |
| Region or network check | On Newegg.ca the Discover Network group is not accepted; availability for shoppers also varies by country and purchase type. |
Shopper order declines
For customer orders, Newegg documents an "On Hold — Payment Declined" status and a "Payment Authorization Failed" email. You can resubmit payment from your Order History or directly from that email after fixing the underlying issue.
Seller membership declines
For a failed seller membership charge, Newegg sends a charge-failure notification and lets you retry or update the card. Documented reasons include a card lacking international or required-currency capability, an invalid card, or insufficient credit. Newegg does not publish a specific decline-code list for seller billing, so if the exact cause is unclear, update the card details and retry, and contact Coinepay support if authorizations keep failing.
Cancelling or downgrading a seller tier
Seller Portal documents cancellation and downgrade through username → Membership Settings → "Opt-Out" → "Select This Tier." Opting out before the 21st ends membership at the current month's end, while a successful charge after the 21st extends membership through the next month. Note a conflict in Newegg's own pages: the seller FAQ mentions a six-month commitment for Professional and Enterprise and directs you to its membership team, whereas the Seller Academy describes a self-service opt-out schedule. Whether the commitment still applies, and any refund or proration policy for membership fees, are not confirmed here, so check the current terms in your Seller Portal or with Newegg directly.
