BritBox streams British boxsets, dramas and comedy in a handful of countries, and you can pay for a direct subscription with a card entered at its own checkout. This guide walks through what you need, how to create an account and subscribe, and what to check if your card is declined. A Coinepay virtual card gives you an instant card number, expiry date and CVV you can use for online subscriptions like this one.
Before you start
A few things make checkout go smoothly:
- A verified Coinepay account. Register and complete identity verification (KYC) first, then create a virtual card in the app. If you have not signed up yet, you can create an account and download the app for iOS or Android.
- Funds on the card. Make sure your card has enough balance to cover the plan plus any applicable tax or VAT. BritBox's own terms list insufficient funds as a reason a payment can fail.
- Your real billing details. Use the name and billing address tied to your Coinepay card and your genuine country of residence. BritBox sells new subscriptions only in specific countries (see below), so your details must match a supported region.
- Your BritBox region. BritBox lists new subscriptions in Australia, Canada, all 50 U.S. states, Sweden, mainland Finland, Denmark and Norway — not U.S. territories or the Åland Islands. The UK is not on the subscription list; ITV says its BritBox catalogue moved to ITVX Premium.
BritBox plans and prices
Plans and pricing vary by country and can change, so always confirm the current figures on the BritBox site for your region before you pay. At the time of writing (October 2026), the published direct prices were:
| Region | Monthly | Annual | Premier (annual-only) |
|---|---|---|---|
| United States | US$10.99 | US$109.99 | US$149.99 |
| Canada | C$10.99 | C$109.99 | C$149.99 |
| Australia | A$13.99 | A$139.99 | — |
| Denmark | 79 DKK | 599 DKK | — |
| Finland | €7.99 | €59.99 | — |
| Norway | 89 NOK | 699 NOK | — |
| Sweden | 89 SEK | 695 SEK | — |
U.S. prices may have state tax added; Canadian prices have GST and other applicable taxes added; Nordic prices include VAT. In the United States and Canada, BritBox Premier is an annual-only tier that adds selected early releases, BBC Select, downloads, 4K streaming on supported titles and up to four simultaneous streams — it is not a monthly option.
Step-by-step: sign up and pay at BritBox checkout
- Create your Coinepay virtual card. Open the Coinepay app or dashboard, generate a card, and keep the card number, expiry date and CVV ready. Confirm the balance covers your chosen plan and tax.
- Go to BritBox.com for your country and select Start Watching Now.
- Create your account. Enter your email, name and a password, then create the account. If you already have an account without an active plan, choose Sign In instead.
- Choose a plan — Standard Monthly, Standard Annual or (in the U.S. and Canada) BritBox Premier — then continue to payment. An existing account uses Sign In → choose plan → Start Subscription.
- Enter your Coinepay card details. Type the card number, expiry and CVV, and enter the billing name and address that match your card. In the United States you may instead see PayPal, or Apple Pay on supported devices and browsers.
- Review the final payment screen. Check the price, any tax, the billing date and whether a trial applies before you confirm. Eligible Standard sign-ups are shown a seven-day trial before billing; Premier is billed immediately.
- Confirm the subscription. If prompted, approve the 3-D Secure verification step so the charge can go through, then complete checkout.
Trial note: BritBox's Canadian storefront advertises a trial on Annual, but its billing help says new Canadian annual subscriptions stopped receiving trials in January 2024. Whether a new Canadian Annual checkout grants one is not clear from BritBox's pages — rely on what the final payment screen shows you.
Card acceptance and prepaid rules
BritBox lists several commonly accepted card networks — including American Express, Diners, Discover, JCB, Maestro, Mastercard, Visa, China UnionPay and others — and notes the list is not exhaustive. It also says prepaid-card acceptance depends on the issuer's recurring-payment rules, and that direct subscribers in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland must use a credit card issued in their subscription country. Coinepay does not publish which network or issuing country applies to your individual card, so if BritBox's requirements matter for your region, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets them before you buy. Do not try to work around a region or card-type check with false details — use your real identity and a card that fits the rules.
Troubleshooting a declined card
BritBox's terms identify expired or deactivated payment methods and insufficient funds as reasons a payment can fail. If your card is declined, work through these checks:
Insufficient balance
Top up your Coinepay card so it covers the full amount including tax or VAT, then retry. Recurring charges at renewal need enough balance too, or the next payment can fail.
Billing address mismatch
The name and billing address at BritBox checkout must match the details on your Coinepay card exactly. Re-enter them carefully — a mismatched postcode or country is a common cause of a decline.
3-D Secure verification
If a verification prompt appears, approve it in the Coinepay app. A missed or timed-out confirmation will stop the charge. Make sure app notifications are enabled so you see the request.
Merchant region checks
BritBox sells new subscriptions only in the countries listed above and checks your region. If you are outside a supported country, or the live storefront redirects you to a location-restriction page, subscription will not complete. Subscribe only from a country where BritBox is officially available, using your real details.
Card type or issuer rules
If the card still will not go through, confirm with Coinepay support that your card supports recurring online payments and meets any network or country requirement for your BritBox region. For a card-specific error, Coinepay support can tell you whether the decline came from the card side.
Managing, cancelling and refunds
To change the card on file, sign in at BritBox.com, select your name at the top right, then go to My Account → Plan & Billing → Manage payment method → Change Payment Method. Save new details at least 24 hours before your renewal date so the next charge uses the right card.
To cancel, go to My Account → Plan & Billing → Cancel subscription → I still want to cancel, and finish at least 24 hours before renewal. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription. Cancellation usually leaves access until the end of the period you paid for, and time already used is non-refundable; for an unwanted annual renewal, BritBox says you may request a prorated refund for unused time rounded down to whole months. If you subscribed through a partner platform rather than BritBox's direct checkout, you are billed by that platform and must manage or cancel there under its rules.
Direct annual subscriptions in Denmark and Finland do not auto-renew, according to BritBox's billing help, so you would need to resubscribe to continue.

FAQ
Can I use a Coinepay virtual card to pay for BritBox?
You can enter a Coinepay virtual card's number, expiry and CVV at BritBox's direct checkout like any online card. BritBox applies its own network and prepaid-card rules, and in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland requires a credit card issued in your subscription country. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets any requirement before you buy.
How much does BritBox cost?
Prices vary by country and can change, so check the BritBox site for your region. At the time of writing (October 2026), U.S. Standard was US$10.99/month or US$109.99/year with Premier at US$149.99/year; Canada mirrored those figures in C$; Australia was A$13.99/month or A$139.99/year; and Nordic prices were listed separately. Taxes or VAT may apply.
Why was my card declined at BritBox checkout?
Common causes are insufficient balance, a billing name or address that does not match your card, a missed 3-D Secure confirmation, or a region check if you are outside a supported country. Fix those and retry; if it still fails, contact Coinepay support to confirm the card supports recurring online payments.
Does BritBox offer a free trial?
Eligible Standard sign-ups are shown a seven-day trial before billing, while Premier is billed immediately. Trial availability differs by region and offer — for example, trial eligibility on Canadian Annual is unclear from BritBox's pages — so always check the final payment screen before you confirm.
How do I cancel BritBox or change my card?
Sign in at BritBox.com, open My Account → Plan & Billing, then use Manage payment method to change your card or Cancel subscription to stop. Do both at least 24 hours before renewal. If you subscribed through a partner platform, manage and cancel with that platform instead.
