Amazon Photos gives you a place to back up and organise your pictures and videos in the cloud. If you want more than the free allowance, you can subscribe to a paid storage plan and pay for it with a Coinepay virtual card. This guide walks through what you need, how to buy or upgrade a plan, and how to troubleshoot a declined payment.

What you need before you start

  • An Amazon account you can sign in to.
  • A Coinepay account with identity verification (KYC) completed. If you have not registered yet, create your account and finish verification first.
  • A Coinepay virtual card. Once issued, you can view the card number, expiry date and CVV instantly in the Coinepay app or dashboard.
  • Enough balance on the card to cover the plan price plus any applicable taxes, which Amazon says may be added on top of the listed price.
  • Your real billing details — name, address and phone number — matching the information on your Coinepay account.

Amazon Photos plans and prices

Amazon Photos includes 5 GB of free storage for photos and videos, and videos count toward that limit. Amazon Prime members (and, per Amazon's current help page, Alexa+ standalone subscribers) get unlimited full-resolution photo storage plus 5 GB for videos and other files in select countries — a membership benefit that is separate from a paid storage plan.

If you need more space, Amazon offers paid storage tiers. The US iOS listing names a 50 GB Monthly Plan, 100 GB Monthly Plan, 1 TB Monthly Plan, 2 TB Monthly Plan and a 100 GB Weekly Plan, and Amazon says monthly and annual tiers exist. At the time of writing (October 2026), US iOS listings showed 50 GB at $0.99/month, 100 GB at $1.99/month, 1 TB at $6.99/month and 2 TB at $11.99/month. Prices vary by region — for example, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Italy and Japan listings all show different amounts — and web or Android checkout prices may differ from iOS in-app listings. Always confirm the current price and the full list of tiers on your signed-in Amazon Your Storage page before you buy.

How to subscribe on the web

  1. Sign in to Amazon Photos in a browser.
  2. Open Your Storage.
  3. Choose the storage plan you want.
  4. When prompted, confirm an existing payment method or enter a new one. Add your Coinepay virtual card number, expiry date and CVV exactly as they appear in the Coinepay app.
  5. Enter a billing address that matches your card details, then review and confirm. An upgrade's new limit applies immediately.

How to subscribe in the mobile app

In the iOS or Android Amazon Photos app, go to Profile → Storage, choose a plan and confirm. Note that in-app purchases are completed through App Store or Google Play checkout where that applies, so the charge is handled by Apple or Google using the payment method on your App Store or Google Play account rather than by Amazon directly. If you want Amazon to bill your Coinepay card, use the web Your Storage flow instead.

A note on accepted cards and verification

Amazon's web checkout prompts you for a payment method, but it does not publish a Photos-specific list of accepted card networks, debit cards or other payment types, so acceptance can depend on your account and region. Amazon also notes that your bank may require a one-time code or biometric verification when you sign up for a subscription or change a card. If you are unsure whether your Coinepay card meets a particular checkout requirement, contact Coinepay support to confirm before you buy.

Amazon's US Photos terms state the US service is offered in the US and that access from elsewhere may be restricted, and a complete country-by-country list for purchasing paid storage is not published. Use your real identity and billing details, and buy from a region where Amazon Photos is available to you.

Troubleshooting a declined card

Amazon says only your bank or card provider can explain the specific reason for a decline, and it recommends checking your card details, billing address, phone number and available funds, plus your bank's rules for online purchases. Here are the most common causes and how to address each with a Coinepay card.

Insufficient balance

The charge must cover the plan price plus any taxes Amazon adds. Check your available balance in the Coinepay app and top up if needed, then retry. Remember that paid plans renew automatically, so keep enough balance for each renewal.

Billing address or details mismatch

Make sure the billing address, name and phone number you enter at Amazon checkout match the information tied to your Coinepay card. A mismatch is a frequent cause of declines. Re-type the card number, expiry and CVV carefully — a single wrong digit will fail.

3-D Secure or bank verification

Amazon warns that a bank may require a code or biometric verification when you start a subscription or change a card, and a failed verification may mean contacting your bank. Complete any verification prompt in the Coinepay app or dashboard promptly, then confirm the purchase again.

Merchant or region checks

Because Amazon does not publish a Photos-specific accepted-card list and restricts access by region, a card may be declined for reasons outside your control. Confirm you are buying from a supported region for your account, and if the card is declined without an obvious cause, reach out to Coinepay support to check your card status.

One Amazon Photos customer reported a "payment was declined" notice for storage bought through Apple in September 2025; the cause was not confirmed. If your plan was purchased through the App Store or Google Play, update the payment method there rather than in Amazon.

Managing, cancelling and renewals

Paid plans renew automatically unless you stop them before the renewal date. To change or cancel, use Amazon Photos Your Storage → Cancel my plan, where you can cancel, stop auto-renewal or switch plans; Amazon's US terms also point to Amazon Photos Settings for turning off auto-renewal, and saved Amazon payment details are managed under Your Account → Your Payments. Cancellation must use the same channel — web, iOS or Android — you used to buy the plan.

For Amazon-billed plans, Amazon's US terms say an eligible early cancellation may receive a prorated refund based on full days remaining, and switching plans normally prorates the old plan while charging the full new-plan price. Plans billed through Apple or Google follow that company's billing terms.

If your account goes over quota after a downgrade or lapse, Amazon says you can still download files but cannot upload, sync or share; after 180 days over quota it begins deleting files, starting with the newest uploads, with notice beforehand. Keeping your Coinepay card funded for renewals helps you avoid this.

Get the Coinepay app

You can manage your virtual card, check your balance and complete verification prompts anytime from the 24/7 dashboard or the mobile app on iOS and Google Play. For help with your card, contact Coinepay support or reach the team on Telegram.

FAQ

Can I pay for Amazon Photos with a Coinepay virtual card?

You can enter your Coinepay virtual card at Amazon's web checkout under Your Storage. Amazon does not publish a Photos-specific list of accepted cards, so if you are unsure your card meets a requirement, contact Coinepay support to confirm before buying.

Why was my Coinepay card declined at Amazon Photos checkout?

Common causes are insufficient balance, a billing address or card detail mismatch, an incomplete 3-D Secure verification, or region checks. Amazon says only your bank or provider can explain the exact reason. Verify your details and balance in the Coinepay app, then retry.

How much does an Amazon Photos storage plan cost?

Prices vary by region and purchase channel. At the time of writing (October 2026), US iOS listings showed 50 GB at $0.99/month, 100 GB at $1.99/month, 1 TB at $6.99/month and 2 TB at $11.99/month. Check the current price on your signed-in Amazon Your Storage page.

Will Amazon charge my Coinepay card if I buy through the app?

No. In-app purchases on iOS go through App Store checkout and on Android through Google Play checkout, using the payment method on those accounts. To have Amazon bill your Coinepay card directly, subscribe through the web Your Storage page.

How do I cancel an Amazon Photos plan paid with my card?

Go to Your Storage → Cancel my plan, where you can cancel, stop auto-renewal or switch plans. You must cancel through the same channel — web, iOS or Android — you used to purchase it.
