Coinepay Global Remittance lets you send money from Germany to Türkiye straight from the Coinepay app or the 24/7 self-service dashboard. Whether you are supporting family, paying a freelancer or settling with a supplier, this guide walks through what you need to prepare, the payout methods you can choose, and how to confirm and track your transfer. The exchange rate and fees are always shown to you before you confirm, so you can review everything in advance.
Before you start: what you need as the sender
To send a cross-border transfer with Coinepay you first need a registered, identity-verified (KYC) account. If you have not set one up yet, create your Coinepay account and complete verification, then install the app from the App Store or Google Play. All transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations, and Coinepay may ask for supporting information such as the purpose of the transfer or the source of your funds.
You will also need accurate details for the person or business receiving the money in Türkiye. The exact fields depend on the payout method you pick, but at a minimum you should have the recipient's full legal name exactly as it appears on their bank account or wallet, and their country and contact details.
The local currency and account formats in Türkiye
Türkiye's local currency is the Turkish lira (TRY). For a bank-account payout, the standard identifier is a Turkish IBAN, which has 26 characters: it begins with the country code TR, followed by two check digits, a five-digit bank identifier, one further digit and a 16-character account field. Because the bank code is built into the IBAN, there is no separate branch-code field in the standard Turkish IBAN format. If an IBAN is not available, the receiving bank may instead ask for an account number that includes its branch code.
Türkiye is not part of SEPA, so a transfer is routed internationally rather than as a SEPA payment. For that reason a Turkish receiving bank may also need a SWIFT/BIC code, and sometimes the recipient's address or additional bank details. Identifiers used in other countries — such as an Indian IFSC, a Mexican CLABE or a US routing number — are not the normal identifiers for a Turkish account, so you will not need those here.
Choosing a payout method
Coinepay supports common local payout methods for Türkiye. In the app you choose the method when you set up the transfer; which options appear can depend on your account and the corridor, so check what is offered at the time you send.
Bank account deposit (TRY)
This is the most common way to receive money in Türkiye. Funds are paid into the recipient's Turkish bank account in lira. You will need:
- The recipient's full legal name as registered with the bank.
- Their 26-character Turkish IBAN (starting
TR). - The receiving bank's SWIFT/BIC, and if requested, the recipient's address.
One important detail: some Turkish savings accounts cannot accept incoming domestic transfers and may be rejected by the bank. The receiving account should be an ordinary account able to accept a standard credit. If you are unsure, ask the recipient to confirm their account can receive a deposit before you send.
Mobile wallet
Türkiye has popular local mobile wallets, and Papara is a widely used example that can receive transfers from abroad. To pay to a wallet like Papara, the recipient usually needs to give you the name and phone number registered with the wallet, and the incoming amount is converted to lira when it is credited. The registered name and phone number must match exactly, or the credit can be delayed or blocked.
Cash pickup
Cash pickup lets the recipient collect the money at a payout location. For this method the recipient typically needs the reference or tracking number for the transfer and a government-issued photo ID whose name matches the recipient name you entered. Double-check the spelling of the name, because pickup agents verify it against the ID.
Step by step: sending the transfer
- Open Coinepay and start a new transfer. Sign in to the app or dashboard and choose to send money internationally.
- Select Türkiye as the destination and pick the currency and payout method (bank deposit, mobile wallet or cash pickup).
- Enter the recipient's details for that method — full legal name, and the IBAN and SWIFT/BIC, wallet phone number, or pickup details as applicable.
- Enter the amount you want to send or want the recipient to receive.
- Review the exchange rate and fees shown on screen. Coinepay displays these clearly before you commit, so you can see the full picture first.
- Provide any requested information, such as the purpose of the payment or source of funds, if prompted during screening.
- Confirm the transfer. Once you confirm, Coinepay processes it and gives you a reference you can use to follow progress.
Tracking your transfer
Every Coinepay transfer has status tracking. From the app or dashboard you can see where your payment is in the process — for example submitted, in review, sent and completed. Keep the reference number handy and share it with your recipient if they need it for cash pickup. If a status stays unchanged longer than you expect, the troubleshooting notes below may explain why.
Troubleshooting
Wrong or mismatched recipient details
An incorrect name, IBAN or wallet phone number is the most common reason a payment is rejected and returned. A receiving bank can reject a transfer when a detail does not match — and occasionally even when the entered details look correct. Re-check every field against what the recipient's bank or wallet shows before sending, and for Papara make sure the registered name and phone number match exactly.
Compliance review
Transfers are screened against sanctions lists and may be held for review. Turkish institutions must also identify their customers under anti-money-laundering rules and report suspicious activity to MASAK, so your recipient could be asked for identification or supporting information before the funds are released. Responding promptly with accurate documents helps a held transfer move forward.
Delays
Funding-bank processing, security or source-of-funds checks, recipient-bank processing, and weekends or public holidays can all slow an arrival. If your transfer is still in progress, check the status in the app before assuming anything has gone wrong.
Returned transfers
If a payment is rejected — for example because the Turkish account is a savings account that cannot accept the credit, or a detail was wrong — it may be returned. When that happens, correct the information and send again. If you are unsure why a transfer was returned, contact Coinepay support with your reference number.
A note on reporting
Rules can apply on both sides of the corridor. As a Germany-resident private sender, certain payments over €50,000 to a nonresident must be reported to the Bundesbank (transfers between your own accounts are exempt). On the Turkish side, institutions carry their own reporting obligations — this is handled at the institution level and should not be treated as a flat personal declaration on every incoming remittance. If you are unsure how any rule applies to you, speak to a qualified adviser.
