Coinepay supports transfers to the Dominican Republic. You can set up a transfer in the Coinepay app or self-service dashboard, review the exchange rate and fees before confirming, and track its status afterward. This guide explains what to collect from your recipient and how to choose between bank deposit, mobile wallet and cash pickup.
What you need before you send
Register for a Coinepay account and complete the identity verification requested for your transfer. Use your real identity and provide accurate information about the recipient and the purpose of the payment. Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay may request documents showing, for example, the purpose of the transfer or the source of funds.
Ask the recipient for their full legal name exactly as it appears on their bank or wallet account, or on the identity document they will use for cash pickup. You will also need the payout details for the method you select. Check those details with the recipient before starting; requirements can differ by bank, wallet or pickup provider.
The Dominican Republic’s local currency is the Dominican peso (DOP). When setting up the transfer, check the payout currency displayed in Coinepay. If the recipient expects funds in a particular account currency, confirm that currency with them and check the receiving bank’s instructions before you confirm.
Choose a payout method in the Dominican Republic
Coinepay supports bank deposit, mobile wallet and cash pickup as local payout categories. Check the app for the methods offered for your particular transfer and follow the details requested there. Do not assume that a method offered by another remittance provider, or in another country, will appear for this transaction.
Bank account deposit
For a bank deposit, obtain the recipient’s legal name, bank name and account number. Ask the recipient for their bank’s current instructions for receiving an international transfer. Depending on the route, the form or receiving bank may request the account currency, the bank’s SWIFT/BIC, an IBAN, or other identifying details. Enter only the fields Coinepay requests, using the information supplied by the receiving bank.
The Dominican Republic has a registered 28-character IBAN format: DO, followed by two check digits, a four-character bank identifier and a 20-digit account number. That does not mean every bank deposit requires an IBAN. Confirm with the recipient bank whether to use its IBAN or its account number for the transfer you are making. If the bank supplies correspondent-bank instructions, follow the requested fields carefully: an ABA routing number in those instructions can identify a US correspondent bank, not the Dominican recipient bank.
Banreservas, Banco Popular Dominicano and Banco BHD are examples of banks a recipient may use in the Dominican Republic; naming them does not mean a particular bank is available for every Coinepay transfer. The form may also request a recipient phone number, address or identity information. Ask the recipient for accurate details rather than substituting a code from another country or guessing a branch code.
Mobile wallet
If mobile-wallet payout appears among the available options, select the wallet shown in Coinepay and ask the recipient for the account holder’s legal name and the wallet identifier requested by the form, such as a registered phone number. Have the recipient confirm that the wallet is active and able to receive the payment. Wallet availability is not universal across remittance providers or individual transfers, so check the specific option displayed in the app rather than assuming a named wallet is supported.
Electronic-payment accounts in the Dominican Republic can receive remittances in Dominican pesos, subject to applicable account-funding rules. A wallet provider may have its own identity checks or account restrictions. The recipient should check their wallet’s receiving requirements if they are unsure whether their account can accept the transfer.
Cash pickup
If cash pickup is available for your transfer, choose an offered pickup option and enter the recipient’s legal name precisely. Before you confirm, check the pickup information displayed in Coinepay and make sure the recipient can visit the relevant location. Tell the recipient to bring a valid photo ID and the transfer reference or tracking number provided for the pickup. Their name on the transfer should match their ID.
Pickup availability can depend on the location’s hours, identification requirements and local rules. Share the tracking information only with the intended recipient. Cash pickup is distinct from home delivery; do not select or promise a delivery service unless it is specifically offered for your transfer.
How to send the transfer
- Sign in and start a transfer. Use the Coinepay app or self-service dashboard. If you are new, register for Coinepay and complete the required verification first.
- Choose the destination and currency. Select the Dominican Republic, enter the amount, and review the payout currency shown. Dominican pesos are identified as DOP.
- Select a payout method. Choose from the bank deposit, mobile wallet or cash pickup options presented for this transfer. Enter the recipient’s full legal name and the method-specific details. For a bank deposit, compare the account and any requested bank codes against the recipient bank’s instructions; for a wallet or pickup, check the registered name and contact details.
- Review before confirming. Coinepay displays the exchange rate and fees before you confirm. Check the recipient, payout method, amount, currency and all entered details. If something is wrong, correct it before submitting.
- Confirm and track. Confirm the transfer when the review is accurate. Use its status tracking in Coinepay to follow progress, and retain the reference for any support request or cash-pickup instructions.
What the recipient should expect
A bank-deposit recipient should check the account specified in the transfer and speak to their bank if they have questions about incoming-payment requirements. A wallet recipient should check the selected wallet account; a cash-pickup recipient should follow the pickup instructions and present matching identification. The receiving institution may request information to identify the sender and recipient or understand the payment. These checks are part of the transfer process, not a reason to change the recipient’s identity or use someone else’s account.
For personal transfers, the Dominican tax authority says that receiving a family remittance is not, by itself, taxed in the Dominican Republic. That statement should not be assumed to cover payment for work, sales or other business activity. If the purpose of the transfer raises tax questions, the sender or recipient should seek advice appropriate to their circumstances.
Troubleshooting a transfer
- Wrong recipient or bank details: If you notice an error after confirming, check the transfer status and contact Coinepay support promptly with the reference and the correct information. Do not assume a submitted transfer can be edited or stopped. An incorrect account number or bank detail can lead to a delay or return.
- Compliance review: Respond to requests for identity, source-of-funds or payment-purpose documents through the appropriate Coinepay process. Transfers remain subject to sanctions screening and local regulations; do not use another person’s details or restructure a payment to avoid a check.
- Recipient has not received the money: First review the status in Coinepay. Depending on the payout method, receiving-bank processing, wallet checks, pickup-location hours and local requirements can affect availability. Confirm that the recipient is checking the correct account, wallet or pickup instructions before contacting support.
- Returned transfer: Check the status and contact support to understand what happened and what steps are available. Verify the recipient’s details and receiving instructions before starting any replacement transfer. Review any new transfer’s displayed rate and fees before confirming it.
Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions. If you need help with an available payout option or a transfer’s status, use Coinepay support and provide the transfer reference without posting sensitive account details publicly.

Get the recipient’s full legal name, bank name and account details. The transfer form or receiving bank may also require a SWIFT/BIC, an IBAN or the account currency. Confirm the required format with the recipient bank.
Does a Dominican bank transfer require an IBAN?
Not necessarily. The Dominican Republic has a 28-character IBAN format, but whether you need an IBAN depends on the transfer and receiving bank. Follow the bank’s instructions and the fields shown in Coinepay.

Coinepay supports mobile wallet and cash pickup as payout categories. Check which options appear for your transfer. A wallet recipient needs the requested account details; a cash-pickup recipient needs matching photo ID and the transfer reference.
