You can try paying for PlayStation Plus with a Coinepay virtual card through the PlayStation Store. Before subscribing, check your account region, choose the membership you want, and make sure your card has enough available funds. A card payment remains subject to Sony’s checks and the payment options available in your Store region.
What you need before subscribing
- A PlayStation account in your actual country or region. Sony says an account’s country or region cannot be changed after creation. Store services and payment options vary by region, so use your real billing details rather than trying to work around a regional restriction.
- A Coinepay account with identity verification completed. Register with Coinepay and complete KYC before using its card services. You can manage your account in the self-service dashboard or the Coinepay mobile app.
- Your virtual card details and available funds. Coinepay issues a virtual card number, expiry date, and CVV. Check the card and available balance in Coinepay before starting checkout. Leave room for the total displayed at checkout and, if relevant, a future renewal.
- A plan and billing period. PlayStation Plus offers 1-, 3-, and 12-month options on its public plan page. Check the price shown for your account on PlayStation’s official plan or checkout page before confirming.
Sony lists several card payment options for its US Store, but methods differ elsewhere. More importantly, Sony identifies a card registered in a different Store region as a possible reason for rejection. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets the relevant region requirement before you buy. Do not assume that a payment method listed for one PlayStation Store region will be available in another.
Choose the right PlayStation Plus tier
The official tiers are PlayStation Plus Essential, PlayStation Plus Extra, and PlayStation Plus Premium. Some markets offer PlayStation Plus Deluxe instead of Premium. Essential includes monthly games and online multiplayer. Extra adds the Game Catalog. Premium adds benefits such as the Classics Catalog and game trials, plus cloud streaming where available. Check the benefits shown for your region; cloud streaming is not available everywhere.
At the time of writing (October 2026), the official US plan page showed monthly prices of $10.99 for Essential, $16.99 for Extra, and $19.99 for Premium. Those are US page prices, not a quote for your account. Prices vary by region and billing period and can change, so review PlayStation’s official pricing page and your checkout total.
How to pay for PlayStation Plus with your card
- Get your Coinepay card ready. After registering and completing identity verification, open the Coinepay dashboard or app and find your virtual card number, expiry date, and CVV. Confirm that sufficient funds are available for the amount you expect to pay.
- Sign in to your PlayStation account. On PlayStation’s official Plus page, select a tier and a 1-, 3-, or 12-month membership option, then choose Add to Cart. Sony may ask you to sign in to show the membership options available to an existing subscriber. Alternatively, open the PlayStation Plus icon on a PS5 or PS4 and follow the subscription prompts.
- Review your selection. Check the tier, term, account region, and amount shown at checkout. If you already subscribe, read the on-screen information carefully before changing plans or purchasing another term.
- Enter your real payment details. If the Store offers card payment for your account, enter the Coinepay virtual card details where prompted. Use your genuine billing name and address, matching the information relevant to your card and account. Do not substitute an address from another region to make a payment go through.
- Complete any requested verification. Follow the checkout prompts, including a cardholder-authentication step if one appears. Review the final total and renewal terms before confirming. A completed checkout, rather than card entry alone, indicates whether the purchase went through.
- Check your subscription. To see the next payment date or manage the membership online, go to Account Management → Subscription. On PS5, use Settings → Users and Accounts → Account → Payment and Subscriptions → Subscriptions.
If you need to add or update a payment method separately, Sony places it under Account Management → Payment Management online. On PS5, go to Settings → Users and Accounts → Account → Payment and Subscriptions → Payment Methods. The wording you see during checkout may differ by device or account.
What happens when the membership renews?
PlayStation Plus renews at your chosen frequency at the then-current regular Store price until you cancel. Sony says that if your PlayStation wallet cannot cover a renewal, it automatically funds the remaining balance from the default payment method on file. Check which method is saved and keep track of your next payment date; a successful first payment does not guarantee a later renewal will succeed.
To stop future renewals, cancel through Account Management → Subscription or, on PS5, Settings → Users and Accounts → Account → Payment and Subscriptions → Subscriptions. Cancellation leaves paid benefits available through the end of the purchased period, but it does not itself refund an earlier charge.
Troubleshoot a declined card payment
A PlayStation error code does not, by itself, identify the cause of a decline. Check the message and work through the likely causes below rather than repeatedly submitting unchanged details.
Insufficient balance or a payment block
Compare the amount at checkout with the funds available for your Coinepay card. Sony lists insufficient funds, disabled online payments, a financial-institution block, and PlayStation service issues among possible obstacles. If funds appear sufficient, check your Coinepay dashboard or app for relevant account information and contact Coinepay support if you need help understanding a card decline. You can also check PlayStation’s service status or seek help from PlayStation support for a Store-side issue.
Card details or billing address do not match
If you see “Credit/debit card information is not valid”, recheck the number, expiry date, CVV, and billing information for typing errors. Sony specifically advises checking that the billing address matches and that the card is appropriate for the Store region. The error WS-43709-3 is a prompt to check card expiration. Correct genuine information; do not invent billing details to retry.
Authentication or 3-D Secure does not complete
If checkout presents a cardholder-verification or 3-D Secure prompt, complete it as instructed and return to checkout to see whether payment finished. If the prompt does not load, expires, or the payment still fails, start a fresh attempt only after checking your connection and the instructions displayed. Ask Coinepay support about the card-side result and PlayStation support about the Store-side checkout. Do not assume that a missing prompt proves authentication was the cause.
Merchant region checks or repeated attempts
Sony warns that a card registered in another PlayStation Store region may not work. Verify your account region and real billing information, then ask Coinepay support whether your card meets Sony’s region requirement. Since a PlayStation account’s region cannot be changed after creation, do not use a false address or a different identity as a workaround.
Other documented messages include E-8210604A (“An error occurred with the payment”) and WS-43689-0, which can indicate a card payment failed; neither establishes a single cause. If Sony says payment information was “updated too often within a short amount of time”, its guidance is to wait 24 hours. Another attempt during that period restarts the wait.
If you need a refund
For the published US Store policy, a subscription refund request must be made within 14 days of sign-up and applies to the first payment, not a recurring fee. Any trial time counts toward the 14 days, and use of subscription benefits may reduce the refund. If eligible, go to Transaction History → Request Refund. Check the rules for your Store region; applicable local-law rights may provide additional protection.

FAQ
Can I use a Coinepay virtual card for PlayStation Plus?
You can try it where your PlayStation Store offers card payment, but approval depends on Sony’s checks and your account and card details. Sony may reject a card registered in a different Store region; ask Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets that requirement before buying.
Where can I change the card saved to my PlayStation account?
Use Account Management → Payment Management online, or Settings → Users and Accounts → Account → Payment and Subscriptions → Payment Methods on PS5.
What if PlayStation says my card information is not valid?
Check the card number, expiry date, CVV, genuine billing address, and Store region. If the details are correct and payment still fails, contact Coinepay support and PlayStation support.
Will canceling PlayStation Plus refund my payment?
No. Canceling stops future renewals while paid benefits continue through the purchased period. Refund eligibility is separate and depends on your Store’s rules and applicable law.
