You can buy Fortnite V-Bucks as a one-time purchase through an available Fortnite or Epic Games checkout. This guide explains how to prepare a Coinepay virtual card, choose a pack, review the payment, and troubleshoot a decline. Check where you plan to play before buying: V-Bucks purchased through the Epic Games Store cannot be redeemed or used on Nintendo Switch.
What you need before buying V-Bucks
- An Epic Games account: Sign in to the account you use for Fortnite, or create one through Epic Games if you are new. Use your real identity and accurate account and billing information. If you play through a console or another platform, check that you are using the intended linked account before paying.
- A Coinepay account and virtual card: Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. Once your card is issued, its number, expiry date and CVV are available in the Coinepay app or 24/7 self-service dashboard.
- Enough available funds: Allow for the final amount shown at checkout, including any applicable tax. Check your available balance and any relevant card settings in Coinepay before submitting the order.
- The right purchase route: Payment options depend on the checkout and region. If you buy through a console or mobile platform, its payment flow may differ from Epic’s. Review the card option actually offered where you intend to buy.
Coinepay card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions. Some Coinepay services are not available in every jurisdiction. If you need to confirm a card setting or whether your card meets a checkout requirement, contact Coinepay support before purchasing.
Choose a Fortnite V-Bucks pack
Epic lists four standard one-time packs: 800 V-Bucks, 2,400 V-Bucks, 4,500 V-Bucks and 12,500 V-Bucks. At the time of writing (October 2026), the listed US Epic web-store prices were US$8.99, US$22.99, US$36.99 and US$89.99, respectively. These are listed prices, not a tax-inclusive checkout quote. Prices and availability can differ by country and purchasing platform, so check Fortnite’s official V-Bucks page and your final checkout total before paying.
If you are buying an Item Shop item but do not have enough V-Bucks, Fortnite may offer Exact Amount during that eligible purchase. It is a conditional top-up in increments of 50 V-Bucks, not a fifth standard pack you can select from the Epic Games Store pack catalogue.
How to pay with your Coinepay virtual card
- Prepare your card. Open the Coinepay iOS app, Coinepay Android app or self-service dashboard. Confirm that your card is available, review its details, and check that you have enough funds for the expected checkout total. Keep the card details private.
- Sign in to Fortnite or Epic Games. Use the Epic account on which you want the purchase. If you need an account, follow Epic’s registration prompts and complete any verification it requests. Do not create an account in a different country or enter a different billing address to try to change your payment options.
- Pick your pack. In Fortnite, open the V-Bucks tab and select an amount. Alternatively, choose a pack on Fortnite’s web Item Shop; that route redirects to the Epic Games Store checkout. If you play on Nintendo Switch, remember that an Epic Games Store V-Bucks purchase cannot be used there.
- Review the checkout. Confirm the pack, Epic account, region, currency and final total. Choose a card payment option if one is displayed. Epic says its store offers credit cards, PayPal and other methods that vary by region; the options shown at your checkout are the ones to rely on.
- Enter the card and billing details. Copy the number, expiry date and CVV from Coinepay. Enter your real billing information accurately, including the address and country requested by the checkout. Review everything before submitting; do not substitute a fabricated address if your details are not accepted.
- Complete any payment verification. If a verification screen appears, follow its instructions. Wait for the purchase result and check the account and V-Bucks balance before trying again. Keep the order confirmation for your records.
Epic’s saved payment methods are managed under Epic Games Account → Payment Settings. Adding or saving a card there does not replace checking the options and details shown for the purchase you are making.
If your card is declined
A decline does not identify a single cause. First check whether an order was completed or a charge is pending before repeating the payment. Then work through the issue that matches what you see:
- Insufficient funds: Compare your Coinepay available balance with the final checkout total, not just the pack’s listed price. Taxes or other amounts displayed at checkout can change what you need to pay. If your balance appears sufficient, check your card settings in Coinepay or ask support to review the failed attempt.
- Billing-details mismatch: Re-enter the card number, expiry date and CVV carefully. Check the billing name, address and country against your real information. Epic also identifies an account-country mismatch as a possible payment issue. Correct genuine mistakes through the appropriate account or billing settings; do not use an invented address.
- 3-D Secure or another verification step: If checkout asks you to authenticate, complete the prompt rather than closing it or repeatedly restarting the order. If the prompt does not arrive or fails, check the transaction status in Coinepay and contact support with the time and merchant name. Do not assume that an abandoned verification completed the purchase.
- Merchant region or payment-method checks: Epic’s available methods vary by country, and platform checkouts may use different payment systems. Confirm your Epic account country and actual billing country, then use a payment option genuinely available for that checkout. If a checkout states a card-type or country-of-issuance requirement, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets it before you buy.
- Repeated attempts or security checks: Epic documents the message “Looks like something went wrong. For your protection, this transaction has been declined. Please try another card or other payment methods.” Epic recommends checking payment details, card activity and funds; it also suggests waiting at least 24 hours or contacting the payment provider. Repeated failed attempts, unusual activity, bank restrictions and parental spending limits can also block a purchase.
If you saved a card through an Xsolla checkout, note that Epic reports known errors with saved Xsolla credit cards. Review the payment method shown at that checkout and follow Epic’s help guidance rather than repeatedly resubmitting an unchanged order. A V-Bucks gift-card message such as “code has not been activated” is a different issue: Epic directs buyers to the retailer for activation problems.
V-Bucks packs, Fortnite Crew and refunds
A V-Bucks pack is a one-time purchase. Fortnite Crew is a separate subscription that renews automatically until cancelled; it can be offered through Fortnite’s Item Shop or Battle Pass tab, or through the Epic Games Store. Its benefits include a monthly V-Bucks grant, but buying a pack does not enroll you in Crew. Check the current Crew terms and price on Fortnite’s official page if a subscription is what you want.
For Epic-billed Crew, subscription management is under Account → Subscriptions, the Epic Games Store app’s Subscriptions tab, or Passes → Manage Subscription in-game. Epic instructs subscribers who want to change an Epic-billed Crew payment method to cancel the current subscription and resubscribe with the new method. Subscriptions purchased through a console or mobile platform are managed through that purchasing platform.
Standard V-Bucks packs are marked non-refundable. Refunding an eligible item bought with V-Bucks is a separate process: Epic describes cancellation of eligible unused Item Shop purchases within 24 hours, or a return within 30 days using a Return Ticket, for V-Bucks back. Exclusions apply. Review the purchase and Epic’s current policy before confirming your order.
