Coinepay Global Remittance supports transfers to Malaysia. You can choose from the payout methods offered for your transfer, review the exchange rate and fees before confirming, and track its status afterward. This guide explains what to prepare for a Malaysian bank deposit, mobile-wallet payout or cash pickup—and what to do if a transfer needs attention.

Before you send: prepare your account and recipient details

Register for Coinepay and complete the identity verification requested for your account before sending. You can manage your transfer through the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app, available for iOS and Android. If you need help with a verification request, contact Coinepay support.

Ask the recipient for their full legal name as it appears on their bank account, wallet registration or identity document, depending on how they will receive the money. Use your own real identity and accurate payment information, too. Confirm the details directly with the recipient rather than copying an old account number or relying on a saved contact whose details may have changed.

Malaysia’s local currency is the Malaysian ringgit (MYR). When you set up the transfer, check the available destination-currency and payout choices in Coinepay. The details you need depend on the method you select:

  • Bank deposit: The recipient’s legal name, Malaysian bank name and account number. An international wire route may also ask for the receiving bank’s SWIFT/BIC and the purpose of payment. Supply a bank or branch code only if the transfer form asks for one.
  • Mobile wallet: The recipient’s name and the wallet identifier requested for the available wallet route, such as a registered mobile number or DuitNow ID. Confirm that the identifier is linked to the intended recipient and destination.
  • Cash pickup: The recipient’s legal name as shown on their valid identification and any additional details requested for the pickup option. The recipient will need to follow the collection instructions provided for that transfer.

Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay may request documents about the purpose of the payment or the source of funds. Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions, and it screens customers and counterparties against sanctions lists.

How to send money to Malaysia step by step

  1. Sign in to your verified Coinepay account. Open Global Remittance in the dashboard or app and start a transfer. Complete any outstanding identity or transfer-information requests shown there.
  2. Choose Malaysia and the currency. Select Malaysia as the recipient’s destination and review the currency options shown for your transfer. If the recipient expects ringgit, check that the payout details display MYR before continuing.
  3. Select a payout method. Choose an available bank deposit, mobile-wallet or cash-pickup option. Enter the recipient’s full legal name and the fields requested for that method. Do not substitute an unrelated country’s banking code for a Malaysian account detail.
  4. Describe the payment accurately. If asked for its purpose, provide a truthful description, such as support for a family member or payment for goods. Have relevant documents ready if Coinepay or a receiving institution asks for them.
  5. Review before confirming. Check the recipient’s name, destination, payout details and currency. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm; review those figures and the transfer summary before submitting.
  6. Confirm and track the transfer. Follow the app’s confirmation instructions, then use Coinepay’s transfer-status tracking. Keep the transfer details handy in case the recipient or support needs them.

If a field is unfamiliar, pause and ask the recipient or their bank or wallet provider what belongs there. A correct account number paired with the wrong bank code or beneficiary name can still cause a problem.

Bank deposit: Malaysian account numbers and bank codes

For a deposit to a Malaysian bank account, obtain the account number directly from the recipient along with their full legal name and bank name. Malaysia does not have a registered national IBAN format, so do not invent an IBAN or add an IBAN-style country prefix to the account number. Account-number requirements can depend on the bank and payout route; follow the fields shown for the selected transfer.

Some international bank-transfer routes ask for a SWIFT/BIC. If Coinepay requests it, get the code for the recipient’s own bank rather than a different bank or an intermediary you found online. A route may instead request a specific Malaysian bank or branch code. Enter one only when requested, and confirm it with the recipient or receiving bank. IFSC, CLABE and US routing numbers are not Malaysian receiving-account codes.

The receiving bank may ask the recipient about the transfer’s purpose, their relationship to the sender or supporting documents. This is separate from entering the payout details in Coinepay. For a Malaysian ringgit External Account held by a non-resident, the bank may also ask for evidence of the transaction’s permitted purpose. The recipient should respond to their bank’s requests using accurate records.

Mobile wallets: check the route and registered identifier

Coinepay supports mobile-wallet payouts, but the wallet choices for a particular transfer are the ones displayed when you set it up. Malaysian wallet destinations associated with DuitNow-enabled payout routes can include BigPay, Boost, Touch ’n Go eWallet and ShopeePay. These examples do not mean every wallet or DuitNow route will appear for every Coinepay transfer; check the available options in the app before asking the recipient to prepare one.

For a wallet payout, ask the recipient which wallet they use and which name and identifier are registered to it. A DuitNow-enabled route may request a registered DuitNow ID instead of bank-account details. The recipient should confirm that the ID points to the intended account or wallet before you submit it. Do not assume that a mobile number alone is enough: follow the exact fields and instructions shown for your chosen payout option.

Cash pickup: what the recipient should bring

If cash pickup is offered for your Malaysia transfer, enter the recipient’s legal name carefully. The recipient will generally need valid identification matching the transfer details and may need a collection reference or other information supplied with the payout instructions. Share those instructions securely with the intended recipient, not with someone collecting on their behalf.

Before sending, check the pickup option’s location and collection requirements in the transfer flow. The recipient should follow the stated instructions and be prepared to answer any questions required by the pickup provider. If their identification uses a different name from the one entered on the transfer, resolve that difference before confirming rather than expecting the pickup location to overlook it.

If a Malaysia transfer is delayed, reviewed or returned

Wrong recipient details

If you notice an incorrect name, account number, SWIFT/BIC or wallet identifier, check the transfer status and contact Coinepay support promptly. Provide the transfer details and the correct information. Do not assume a submitted transfer can be edited or stopped; support can advise what actions are available for its current status.

Compliance review or a request for documents

Coinepay or a receiving institution may ask about the sender, beneficiary, purpose of payment or source of funds. For international wires, a missing purpose of payment can cause the receiving bank to reject the payment. Respond through the requested channel with truthful information and any relevant documents; ask support if you are unsure what a request means.

No receipt yet or a returned transfer

Check Coinepay’s status tracking first, then ask the recipient to check their bank or wallet and any messages from its provider. Processing by a receiving or intermediary institution, weekends or bank holidays, incorrect details, or an account that cannot accept the payment can affect its progress. If the transfer is marked returned or the recipient cannot locate it, give support the transfer details so they can help you understand the next step. Before sending again, confirm the recipient’s details and the chosen payout route.

For a new transfer, register with Coinepay and complete the verification shown in your account. Always use the rate, fees and payout options displayed for your specific Malaysia transfer as the basis for your decision.
