Supabase is a developer platform for databases, authentication, storage and edge functions. Its paid tiers are billed per organization and require a card on file. If you prefer to keep your Supabase spend on a dedicated card, a Coinepay virtual card gives you an instant card number, expiry date and CVV you can manage from one dashboard. This guide walks through what you need, how to add the card and choose a plan, and how to troubleshoot a declined payment.
Before you start: what you need
Supabase takes standard payments by credit card only. The brands it lists in its billing documentation are Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, China UnionPay and Cartes Bancaires. Routine acceptance of debit or prepaid cards is not confirmed in Supabase's own materials, so whether your particular card is accepted at checkout can only be settled by trying it. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets this requirement before you buy, and use your own real name and billing address throughout.
- A verified Coinepay account. You must register and complete identity verification (KYC) before card services are available. Create one at the Coinepay sign-up page and manage everything from the dashboard or the iOS and Android app.
- A Coinepay virtual card with enough balance to cover the first charge and recurring invoices. Supabase charges the monthly plan fee in advance and usage in arrears.
- Your correct billing address, as it will be used for the card's address check and for Supabase's tax calculation.
Note that Coinepay's virtual-asset-related services are not available to residents of mainland China, and some services are not offered in every jurisdiction. Supabase's own terms also restrict access from places where export law prohibits it.
Understand Supabase plans and pricing
Supabase subscriptions apply to an organization, not to a single project. The plan names are Free, Pro, Team and Enterprise. At the time of writing (October 2026) the published prices were Free $0/month, Pro from $25/month, Team from $599/month, and Enterprise by custom quote. Pro and Team include the first project at the default compute size; additional projects start at $10/month, and usage or add-ons can increase the bill. Prices can change, so check the official Supabase pricing page before you subscribe.
Invoices are issued in USD. Supabase publishes USD prices rather than separate local-currency plan prices, so your card provider may convert the currency when it pays. From a rollout during May–June 2026, Supabase also began collecting applicable sales tax, VAT, GST and other indirect taxes based on your billing address, so the final total depends on your jurisdiction. There is no fixed local-currency checkout total you can rely on in advance.
Step 1: Create your Coinepay virtual card
- Sign in to the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app.
- Create a virtual card and note the card number, expiry date and CVV shown instantly after issuance.
- Load enough balance to cover the plan fee plus any tax and expected usage, and keep a buffer for the next monthly invoice.
If you run multiple services or ad accounts, Coinepay lets you issue a dedicated card per purpose with its own spending limit, which makes it easy to isolate your Supabase charges on their own card.
Step 2: Register or sign in to Supabase
Open the Supabase sign-up page. You can register with GitHub, with ChatGPT, through SSO, or with email and password. Once signed in, you'll land in the dashboard where your organizations and projects live. Create an organization if you don't have one yet, because billing attaches to the organization.
Step 3: Add your Coinepay card to billing
- Open the organization's billing page in the Supabase dashboard.
- Go to Payment Methods and choose Add new card.
- Enter the Coinepay card number, expiry and CVV, then your billing address exactly as it appears on your Coinepay account.
- Mark the card as active so invoices are collected from it automatically.
While you're on the billing page, confirm your billing address, billing email and, if relevant, your tax ID, since these affect tax and where invoice notices are sent.
Step 4: Choose and confirm your plan
- On the organization's billing page, open Subscription Plan, then Change subscription plan.
- Select Pro or Team and follow the prompts. Enterprise is arranged through a request form rather than self-service checkout.
- Review the amount, confirm, and complete any 3-D Secure verification your card issuer requests.
The monthly plan fee is charged in advance and future invoices are collected automatically from your active payment method. You can download invoices from the organization's invoices page at any time.
Troubleshooting: card declined or payment failed
Reported checkout messages include "Card was declined" and "Your payment failed due to an incorrect CVC". These are individual user reports rather than a diagnosis, but the causes below cover the most common ones.
Insufficient balance or transaction limit
Supabase lists insufficient funds, a bank decline and an expired card among reasons an account goes overdue. Confirm your Coinepay card has enough balance for the plan fee, tax and currency conversion, and check that the card's per-transaction limit is high enough. Top up or raise the limit in the Coinepay app and retry.
Billing address mismatch
If the address you entered on Supabase doesn't match the one registered to your Coinepay card, the issuer's address check can reject the charge. Re-enter the billing address so it matches your Coinepay account exactly, then save and try again.
Incorrect CVC
The "incorrect CVC" message usually means the security code was mistyped. Re-open the CVV in your Coinepay card details and re-enter it carefully, taking care not to add spaces.
3-D Secure not completed
If your card requires 3-D Secure, the payment fails when the verification step is cancelled or times out. Complete the confirmation prompt in your Coinepay app when it appears, then resubmit.
Issuer blocking a USD charge from Singapore
Supabase specifically advises checking whether your issuer permits a USD charge that may appear to originate in Singapore. If your card blocks foreign or cross-border charges, confirm with Coinepay support that such a charge is allowed on your card before retrying.
Card type not accepted
Standard Supabase payments are credit-card only, and routine acceptance of debit or prepaid cards isn't confirmed in its documentation. If the charge keeps failing with a straight decline and the causes above don't apply, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card's capabilities, and contact Supabase support if you need an alternative for a larger upfront payment. Supabase also permits card-funded credit top-ups you can draw against.
A past invoice failed
If a monthly invoice fails, Supabase retries it, emails you the reason, and offers a Pay now option in that email and on the organization's invoices page. Fix the card issue first, then use Pay now to clear the balance.
Cancelling and refunds
To cancel a paid plan, open Change subscription plan and select the Free Plan; the downgrade takes effect immediately. Be aware that unused prepaid time becomes non-expiring organization credits rather than a refund to your card, and previously unbilled usage can still be charged. Supabase's terms state that fees paid are non-refundable and that unused credits are not refundable, so plan your subscription changes with that in mind.
Keeping your card details up to date
Because invoices are collected automatically, keep your Coinepay card funded and the expiry current on Supabase's Payment Methods page. If you replace the card, add the new one, mark it active and remove the old entry so a future invoice doesn't fail on an expired card. You can review your spend and set limits for the Supabase card from the Coinepay dashboard at any time.
If anything about your Coinepay card or a charge is unclear, reach out through Coinepay support or Telegram.

FAQ
Can I pay for Supabase with a Coinepay virtual card?
You can add a Coinepay virtual card on your Supabase organization's billing page under Payment Methods. Supabase takes standard payments by credit card only and doesn't confirm routine acceptance of every card type, so contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets this requirement before you subscribe.
Which Supabase plan should I subscribe to?
Supabase offers Free, Pro, Team and Enterprise, and billing applies to an organization rather than a single project. At the time of writing (October 2026) Pro started at $25/month and Team at $599/month, with Enterprise by quote. Check Supabase's official pricing page for current figures, as usage and add-ons can change the total.
Why was my Supabase payment declined?
Common causes are insufficient card balance, a transaction limit, a billing address that doesn't match your card, an incorrect CVC, an incomplete 3-D Secure step, or an issuer blocking a USD charge that may appear to come from Singapore. Fix the specific issue in your Coinepay app and retry, or use the Pay now link if an invoice failed.
Will I be charged in my local currency?
Supabase invoices in USD and publishes USD prices, so your card provider may convert the currency when it pays. Applicable tax is added based on your billing address. There is no fixed local-currency total in advance, so the amount can vary with conversion and tax.
Can I get a refund if I cancel Supabase?
Downgrading to the Free Plan takes effect immediately, but unused prepaid time becomes non-expiring organization credits rather than a refund to your card. Supabase's terms state fees paid are non-refundable and unused credits are not refundable, and previously unbilled usage can still be charged.
