You can enter a Coinepay virtual card when IONOS offers a card option at checkout. Before ordering, check that IONOS accepts orders from your real postal address, then review the hosting term, billing schedule and total due. Card acceptance depends on IONOS and the payment checks applied to your order; having a virtual card does not guarantee approval.

What you need before paying

  • An eligible IONOS ordering location. Use the IONOS country site appropriate for your real postal address. IONOS says customers with a US postal address must order through ionos.com. It also publishes a list of postal addresses it does not accept for orders; check that list if you are uncertain about availability. A card payment option does not override an ordering restriction.
  • A Coinepay account and virtual card. Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. Your card number, expiry date and CVV are available once your virtual card is issued. You can manage the card through the Coinepay app or self-service dashboard.
  • Your genuine account and billing details. Have your name, contact information and real billing address ready. Check the details shown for your card in Coinepay and use accurate information at IONOS checkout. Do not substitute an address from another country to obtain a different offer.
  • Enough available funds. Allow for the amount IONOS shows as due, applicable taxes and any optional items you choose. IONOS says selecting a card usually triggers a small test transaction that is reversed; an authorization hold may temporarily affect available funds.

IONOS sells domains, website builders, servers and other services as well as shared web hosting. Their offers and checkout totals can differ. The plan examples below concern shared web hosting only.

Choose an IONOS hosting plan and check the contract

Plan names and offers vary by country. For example, the US shared-hosting page lists Essential, Starter, Plus and Ultimate, while the UK page lists Standard, Plus, Premium and Ultimate. The introductory rate is not necessarily a month-to-month contract or the amount payable immediately.

MarketExample to check before ordering
USAt the time of writing (October 2026), Plus was displayed at $1/month with a one-year term, then $14/month. State and local sales taxes may apply.
UKAt the time of writing (October 2026), Plus was displayed at £1/month for 12 months, then £9/month. Displayed prices exclude VAT.

These are examples, not a quote for your order. Check the current IONOS pricing page for your country and the final order review. Confirm the promotional period, minimum term, billing frequency, renewal price, taxes and any selected add-ons. IONOS’s US guidance says many products offer a monthly or annual billing choice at checkout that cannot later be changed; its UK guidance says most products are billed monthly even when the minimum term is longer. Do not infer the billing schedule from the displayed monthly rate.

How to sign up and pay with your Coinepay card

  1. Prepare the card. Sign in to the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app. Check your available funds and retrieve your virtual card number, expiry date and CVV. If you need the app, use the iOS download or Android download.
  2. Go to the appropriate IONOS country site. Open IONOS’s official web-hosting page for your location. Check that IONOS accepts orders from your postal address and that the product you want is available there.
  3. Select the hosting offer. Choose the plan that fits your needs, then inspect the term and promotional conditions. As you move through the order, review any domain selection and optional products before keeping them in your cart.
  4. Enter your real customer information. Follow the prompts to create an IONOS account or sign in. Provide accurate contact and billing details. The exact order of account setup, review and payment screens may vary by product or country.
  5. Review the order before payment. Check the amount due now, future charges, billing frequency, taxes, selected items and terms. Correct anything unexpected before proceeding.
  6. Choose card payment if offered. Enter the Coinepay card number, expiry date and CVV in IONOS’s payment form. Complete any verification requested by the checkout or payment provider. Only confirm the purchase after checking the final order summary.
  7. Keep the confirmation and monitor billing. Save your IONOS order confirmation and check the account’s invoices when available. Make sure sufficient funds remain available for later payments under your chosen contract.

IONOS lists credit card among payment methods on its US help page, but the options shown can differ by country, product and checkout. Neither that listing nor card entry guarantees that a particular virtual card will be accepted. If the checkout states a card-type or issuance-country requirement, contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets it before you buy.

How to change the card used for IONOS billing

For an existing account, IONOS documents this route: Menu → My account → Invoices & payment details → Payment method → Change payment method → Save. Enter the replacement card information requested and check that the change is saved. Invoices are available in the same account area. Changing the payment method does not itself cancel a hosting contract or resolve an already unpaid invoice; inspect any payment reminder separately.

IONOS says it retries failed recurring payments automatically where possible and emails instructions if collection still fails. An unpaid invoice may prevent further orders. If you receive a reminder, review the invoice and the instructions in your IONOS account rather than repeatedly submitting a new hosting order.

Why was my IONOS card payment declined?

Insufficient available balance or an authorization hold

Compare your available card funds with the checkout total, not just the advertised monthly rate. Account for taxes, selected extras and a possible temporary authorization hold. IONOS describes a small reversed test transaction when selecting a card; its US guidance also discusses a possible $1 verification. A hold is not necessarily a final charge. If the balance appears sufficient but the order still fails, check the transaction in Coinepay and contact support before retrying.

Incorrect card details or billing-address mismatch

Re-enter the card number, expiry date and CVV carefully. Check that the name and billing details you provide are accurate and consistent with your real information. IONOS identifies incorrectly entered payment information as one cause of an unsuccessful order. If your details are correct, ask Coinepay support whether it can identify a declined authorization; IONOS may also be able to clarify what its checkout rejected.

Verification or 3-D Secure did not complete

If checkout presents an authentication step, complete it without closing the payment page prematurely. A timed-out or interrupted challenge can leave the payment unfinished. Follow the instructions displayed for that attempt, then check whether IONOS created an order before trying again. Do not assume every IONOS checkout will present the same verification flow.

Merchant region or payment-method checks

Confirm that you are using the IONOS site appropriate for your real postal address and that IONOS accepts orders from that location. Product availability and payment options differ between markets. A country, billing-information or card-eligibility check may prevent a purchase even if you have enough funds. Do not change your address to bypass the check. Ask IONOS about its ordering requirement and contact Coinepay support if you need to establish whether your card meets a stated card requirement.

Know how renewal and cancellation work

Hosting can continue after its introductory period at the applicable renewal price. Review the contract terms before paying and set a reminder to check your IONOS account ahead of renewal. For cancellation, IONOS documents Menu → My account → Contracts & subscriptions → select contract → Cancel contract, followed by confirmation. Back up your website and other data first. Under IONOS’s US general terms, contracts generally renew automatically and generally require 30 days’ notice; ending a minimum-term package early can leave fees for the rest of its initial term due. Check the terms governing your specific order.

IONOS advertises a 30-day money-back guarantee for web-hosting plans, but eligibility depends on the product and contract. Do not assume it covers domains, add-ons, renewals or other services. If you also registered a domain, canceling that domain alone does not cancel its associated contract. Check each item you intend to end in your IONOS account.

FAQ

Will IONOS accept my Coinepay virtual card?

IONOS offers card payment in some markets, but acceptance depends on its checkout and payment checks. If IONOS states a card eligibility requirement, contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets it before buying.

Why is my checkout total higher than the advertised monthly price?

The displayed rate may be promotional and does not establish the amount due now. Check the contract term, billing frequency, taxes and optional items in IONOS’s order review.

Where can I change my IONOS payment card?

In your IONOS account, go to Menu → My account → Invoices & payment details → Payment method → Change payment method, then save the change.

What should I do if IONOS declines the card?

Check available funds, card entries and your real billing details; complete any requested verification. If it still fails, ask IONOS about the checkout rejection and Coinepay support about the card authorization.
