You can use a Coinepay virtual card to attempt to pay for a Notion subscription through Notion’s web checkout. This guide covers what to prepare, how a workspace owner upgrades, and what to check if the payment does not go through. Card acceptance depends on Notion’s checkout and payment checks.

Before you start

Decide which Notion workspace you want to upgrade and confirm that you are its owner. Only workspace owners can view and manage plan and billing details in Settings → Billing. If someone else owns the workspace, ask them to complete the purchase or make the billing change.

Notion’s subscription tiers are Free, Plus, Business, and Enterprise. Plus is not offered to every workspace, and Enterprise requires contacting Notion’s sales team rather than using the ordinary self-service checkout. Check Notion’s official pricing page for the plans, billing options, and prices shown for your workspace and region; do not assume a price displayed in another market applies to you.

  • Create your Coinepay account: register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services.
  • Get your card details: Coinepay issues virtual cards with a card number, expiry date, and CVV. You can manage your card in the Coinepay self-service dashboard or mobile app.
  • Check available funds: Review the amount in Notion’s order summary and next-bill estimate. Allow for the full charge shown at checkout, including any applicable taxes or charges displayed there, rather than relying on a plan’s headline price.
  • Use accurate billing information: Have your real name and billing details ready. Enter information that matches the details associated with your payment method; do not use an invented address or another person’s identity.

Notion bills paid subscriptions upfront per member, per workspace. The number of members and your choice of monthly or yearly billing can affect the amount due. Added seats can result in prorated charges, while removing a member does not produce a prorated refund for the current billing interval.

How to subscribe to Notion on the web

  1. Sign in or create a Notion account. On Notion’s official site, choose Sign up to begin with Free if you need a new account. Its pricing page also offers Get started for paid self-service plans. Create or open the workspace you intend to pay for.
  2. Open the upgrade options as the workspace owner. On desktop or web, go to Settings → Upgrade plan or Settings → Explore plans, depending on what your workspace displays, then select Upgrade.
  3. Choose the plan and billing option. Select an available self-service plan, such as Plus or Business, and review the billing frequency offered. If Plus is not shown for your workspace, do not assume it can be purchased there. For Enterprise, follow Notion’s Contact Sales route.
  4. Review the order before paying. Check the member count, order summary, amount due, and next-bill estimate. Correct an unexpected seat count before confirming; paid plans are charged per member and per workspace.
  5. Enter your Coinepay virtual card details. At Notion’s web checkout, choose the card payment option and enter the number, expiry date, CVV, and requested real billing details. Notion also lists Apple Pay and Stripe Link with a saved card as web payment options, but entering the Coinepay card directly keeps this guide’s steps focused on card checkout.
  6. Complete any payment verification and confirm. Follow the prompts presented by the checkout or payment provider, then select Upgrade now when you are satisfied with the order. Do not repeatedly submit a payment while its result is unclear.
  7. Check the outcome. Return to Settings → Billing to review the workspace’s plan and billing information. If the result is uncertain, verify it there before attempting another purchase.

Notion lists Apple Pay for iOS purchases and says payments cannot currently be made in its Android app. A one-member Free workspace may have an option to upgrade to Plus in a mobile app when Plus is offered, but mobile purchases are managed through the applicable app store. For the direct virtual-card steps above, use Notion’s web checkout rather than assuming an in-app purchase uses the same billing flow.

If Notion declines the card or checkout does not finish

A failed checkout does not, by itself, identify the cause. Work through the checks below before trying again:

  • Insufficient available funds: Compare the available amount for your Coinepay card with Notion’s full checkout total, not just the advertised per-member figure. Check the member count, billing frequency, and any amount shown as due today. If funds appear sufficient but the payment still fails, contact Coinepay support to review the card-side issue.
  • Billing details mismatch: Recheck the name, billing address, postal code, card number, expiry date, and CVV for typing errors. Use your real details associated with the payment method. If you need to change a card on an existing Notion subscription, a workspace owner can go to Settings → Billing → Edit method → Update.
  • 3-D Secure or another verification step: If checkout asks you to authenticate, follow the on-screen instructions. If verification does not appear, times out, or fails, check the Coinepay app or dashboard for relevant card information and contact Coinepay support for help. Do not assume that a particular authentication flow is available for every card or transaction.
  • Merchant region checks: Notion’s plan availability can vary by workspace, and its payment checks may affect a transaction. Make sure your Notion account and billing information accurately reflect your situation. If a region-related message appears, ask Notion about its checkout requirements and contact Coinepay support to check your card; do not change details merely to get around a restriction.
  • Unclear checkout result: Before submitting again, check Settings → Billing and any payment email from Notion. If the workspace was already upgraded or a charge is pending, seek support rather than risking a duplicate attempt.

Notion says it emails the account after a failed subscription payment and may retry the charge up to eight times over the following month. It may then restrict the workspace before downgrading it to Free. If a renewal fails, have the workspace owner check Settings → Billing and update the payment method promptly.

Manage renewal, cancellation, and refund requests

Notion subscriptions renew automatically on monthly or annual billing. To stop renewal or move to another plan, the workspace owner can open Settings → Billing → Change plan. Notion says paid features remain available through the current billing cycle after cancellation or downgrade.

If you subscribed accidentally, contact Notion from the workspace owner’s or billing contact’s email. Notion says it can process a refund in most cases when contacted within three days of a monthly invoice or 30 days of an annual invoice. Those windows are not a refund guarantee, and applicable regional rules may differ. If the purchase was made through Apple’s App Store, request the refund from Apple instead. Check the invoice and purchase channel before submitting a request.

For card-related questions, use Coinepay support; for a Notion plan, invoice, or refund decision, contact Notion through its official support channels. You can also manage your Coinepay account through its iOS app or Android app.
