Hotstar subscriptions depend on where you live: the current service is called JioHotstar in India, the UK, Canada and Singapore, while a JioHotstar offering is available through STARZPLAY in parts of MENA. This guide focuses on paying for an Indian JioHotstar subscription with a Coinepay virtual card, with notes for other markets. A card payment is subject to the options shown at checkout and the merchant’s payment checks.
What you need before subscribing
- A Coinepay account and virtual card. Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification (KYC) before using card services. Your issued virtual card has a card number, expiry date and CVV, available through Coinepay’s self-service dashboard or mobile app.
- Access to the service in your location. Choose the JioHotstar or STARZPLAY offering intended for your actual region. Plans, content and checkout options differ by market; a virtual card does not bypass regional eligibility or payment rules.
- Your real account and billing information. Have the mobile number or other sign-in details requested by the service ready. Enter your genuine billing details if checkout asks for them, and make sure they match the details associated with your payment method.
- Enough available funds. Check your card’s available funds in Coinepay before selecting a billing period. Allow for the full amount displayed at checkout and any applicable taxes or payment verification amount. Check the Coinepay app or contact support for card-service details relevant to your account.
In India, JioHotstar’s published terms list debit cards, credit cards, internet banking and electronic prepaid wallets among its payment categories. The methods actually available to you appear at checkout. Do not assume that selecting a card option means a particular virtual card will be accepted.
Choose the right JioHotstar plan
Indian new subscribers can choose Mobile, Super or Premium, with monthly, quarterly and annual billing. At the time of writing (October 2026), JioStar listed these prices for new subscribers:
| India plan | Monthly | Quarterly | Annual |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mobile | ₹79 | ₹149 | ₹499 |
| Super | ₹149 | ₹349 | ₹1,099 |
| Premium | ₹299 | ₹699 | ₹2,199 |
Mobile offers an optional Hollywood add-on; it is included with Super and Premium. At the time of writing (October 2026), the Mobile add-on was listed at ₹49 monthly, ₹129 quarterly or ₹399 annually. Check JioHotstar’s official pricing page and your checkout total before paying, as prices and eligibility can change. Existing Indian subscribers may retain an earlier price and benefits while their auto-renewal stays active; review your account rather than assuming the new-subscriber price applies.
For the UK, Canada and Singapore, JioHotstar lists quarterly and annual subscriptions instead of the Indian Mobile, Super and Premium choices. At the time of writing (October 2026), the listed quarterly/annual prices were £19.99/£69.99 in the UK, C$19.99/C$49.99 in Canada and S$29.98/S$69.98 in Singapore. Check the official pricing page for your market. In MENA, the JioHotstar offering sits within STARZPLAY: select and pay for an eligible STARZPLAY subscription using that service’s checkout rather than following the Indian JioHotstar steps below.
How to pay for JioHotstar in India
- Prepare your card. Sign in to the Coinepay dashboard or Coinepay mobile app and locate your virtual card’s number, expiry date and CVV. Check that sufficient funds are available for the checkout total.
- Open JioHotstar. Go to its official service in your region and register or sign in. In India, signing in with a mobile number involves an SMS one-time password. Use your own number and complete the account prompts shown.
- Select your subscription. Choose Mobile, Super or Premium, then your billing period. If you choose Mobile, decide whether to add Hollywood content. Review the displayed subscription terms and total before proceeding.
- Choose a card option if offered. At checkout, JioHotstar asks for the personal and payment information needed for your selection and processes payments through a third-party gateway. If an appropriate card-payment option appears, enter your Coinepay card details and your real billing information exactly as requested.
- Complete any payment prompts. Follow any authentication request presented by the checkout or your payment provider. Do not leave the page or assume the subscription is active until JioHotstar shows the result. A successful card entry alone is not confirmation that payment completed.
- Verify your subscription. In India, open profile → My Account to check subscription status and the next renewal. You can also find cancellation and downloadable invoices there. If the payment result is unclear, check this page and your Coinepay transaction activity before attempting another purchase.
Charges begin when the subscription starts, or after an applicable free trial, and recur automatically unless you cancel. If JioHotstar offers you a trial, its Indian terms allow for a small payment-method verification charge that is refunded after the gateway confirms registration. Do not assume a trial is included with a particular plan; rely on the offer displayed to you.
Why was my Hotstar card payment declined?
Insufficient available funds
Compare the available funds shown in Coinepay with the full checkout amount, not just a plan’s advertised base price. Taxes, an add-on or a verification amount may affect what must be available. If funds appear sufficient, inspect your Coinepay transaction activity before retrying so you do not accidentally make repeated payments.
Billing details do not match
Recheck your name, billing address and other details requested at checkout for typing errors. Use your real information; do not substitute an address in another region to get past a check. If you are unsure which details apply to your card, contact Coinepay support before trying again.
An authentication prompt was not completed
If a 3-D Secure or other payment-authentication prompt appears, follow its instructions and wait for the final checkout result. A timed-out, closed or unsuccessful prompt can interrupt payment. If no prompt appeared, do not assume authentication was the cause: check the result in JioHotstar and your Coinepay activity, then ask the relevant support team to investigate.
The merchant applies region or payment-method checks
JioHotstar’s offerings differ by location, and its India site displays a VPN/proxy-blocking notice. Check that you are using the service and plan available in your actual location, and review the payment methods offered at that checkout. A declined card does not, by itself, identify which check failed. Coinepay cannot override a merchant’s eligibility rules; contact Coinepay support about your card and JioHotstar support about a checkout rejection.
If you see “payment failed” after submitting payment, first verify whether a subscription became active and whether your card shows a completed charge. Avoid repeatedly resubmitting while the status is uncertain. JioStar’s Indian terms say payment-processing complaints made through its site are forwarded to its gateway provider. If a renewal fails because the payment method has expired, become unavailable or fails, amounts may remain unpaid and JioStar may terminate the subscription.
Manage renewals, invoices and cancellation
For an Indian JioHotstar subscription, go to profile → My Account to see its status and next renewal, download invoices or cancel. Cancel before the next renewal if you do not want another charge. Fees already billed are generally non-refundable, including for unused time, subject to the exception in JioHotstar’s terms for certain higher-tier or add-on upgrades.
Plan your payment method before subscribing: JioHotstar’s published Indian terms say it cannot be changed during a subscription’s tenure. If your card expires or a renewal fails, ask JioHotstar support what options apply to your account rather than assuming you can replace the card in settings. For a payment question specific to your Coinepay card, use Coinepay support.
