Amazon Prime Video is available in over 240 countries and territories, but the plans, prices, titles and accepted payment methods change from market to market. This guide walks you through paying for a Prime Video subscription with a Coinepay virtual card, from preparing your card to completing checkout, and what to try if a charge is declined.
Before you start
A Coinepay virtual card comes with an instant card number, expiry date and CVV that you can use for online shopping and subscriptions. To create one you first need to register and finish identity verification (KYC). You can do everything from the Coinepay dashboard or the mobile app.
- Create your account: Register with Coinepay and complete KYC.
- Get the app: download it on iOS or Google Play to view your card details and balance on the go.
- Fund the card: make sure there is enough balance to cover the plan price plus any applicable taxes before Amazon tries to charge it.
- Use your real details: enter your genuine name and billing address. Amazon verifies your location and prohibits disguising it, so do not try to work around regional availability.
Note that services related to virtual assets are not available to residents of mainland China, and some services are not offered in every jurisdiction.
Which Prime Video plan are you paying for?
Prime Video can be reached in a few different ways, and each has its own charge:
- Amazon Prime includes the core Prime Video benefit (with limited ads) plus the other Prime benefits.
- Prime Video-only is a separate subscription that gives you Prime Video without the rest of Prime.
- Prime Video Ultra (US only) is an add-on on top of Prime or Prime Video that includes features such as 4K/UHD and Dolby Atmos; it replaced the Ad Free add-on in the US in 2026.
- Prime Video Ad Free is the add-on name used in eligible markets outside the US, with an annual option in India.
- Add-on subscriptions (channels) are separately priced third-party services, billed apart from your core Prime or Prime Video charge.
At the time of writing (October 2026), Amazon's published US prices are US$14.99/month or US$139/year for Amazon Prime, US$8.99/month for Prime Video-only, and an additional US$4.99/month (or US$45.99/year for eligible annual members) for Prime Video Ultra. Examples in other markets include the UK at £8.99/month or £95/year, Germany at €8.99/month or €89.90/year, Canada at C$9.99/month or C$99/year, Australia at A$9.99/month or A$79/year, Brazil at R$19.90/month or R$166.80/year, and India at ₹299/month or ₹1,499/year. These are Amazon's published prices, not a checkout quote, and taxes and offers vary, so always confirm the current price on Amazon's official page for your country.
Does Amazon accept the card?
Amazon states that it accepts Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards for Prime Video subscriptions worldwide. In specified countries it also lists American Express credit, Diners Club and Naranja credit in certain Latin American countries, and Verve in Nigeria. Other methods depend on your market and the product you are buying — for example SEPA in France, Italy and Spain, UPI in India, gift cards in Australia and Canada, iDEAL | Wero in the Netherlands, and selected wallets in Southeast Asia.
One important restriction: for rentals and purchases (not subscriptions), Amazon requires the card's registered address to match your marketplace, and the accepted methods can differ from those used for subscriptions. If you are unsure whether your Coinepay card meets a particular Amazon requirement, contact Coinepay support to confirm before you buy.
Step-by-step: subscribe to Prime Video
- Go to your local Amazon Prime page or open the Prime Video app.
- Sign in to your Amazon account, or create one.
- Choose the offered plan or any eligible free trial. Remember that an eligible trial converts to a paid membership automatically unless you cancel first.
- When prompted to add payment information, enter your Coinepay virtual card number, expiry date and CVV exactly as shown in the Coinepay app.
- Enter the billing address that matches your Coinepay card and account details.
- Review the plan, price and taxes, then confirm.
Paying for an add-on
For a channel or add-on, open Subscriptions on the Prime Video website, select the service and follow its subscription prompts; its charge is separate from your underlying Prime or Prime Video charge. For the ad-free add-on outside the US, go to Your Account → Go Ad Free → Start Subscription in Prime Video, or on supported TV apps use Settings → Prime → Go Ad Free.
Manage billing and renewals
Direct-billed subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current periodic price, including applicable taxes. If the designated card fails, Amazon may try another saved payment method. To update your card, use Prime Video Account & Settings for video payment settings, and Prime Membership → Edit on Amazon for the underlying Prime membership. Keeping your Coinepay card funded ahead of the renewal date helps avoid an interrupted charge.
Troubleshooting a declined card
Amazon's payment and order troubleshooting lists codes such as 2016, 2021, 2023, 2026–2029, 2040, 2041, 2043, 2044, 2047, 2048, 2063 and 7035. Amazon notes these point to possibilities rather than a fixed one-to-one meaning, and cites causes including an incorrect card number, expiry or security code, unsupported e-commerce transactions, insufficient funds, and a possible card-verification request from your bank. Work through these checks:
- Insufficient balance: confirm in the Coinepay app that your card has enough to cover the price plus taxes, then retry.
- Card details entered incorrectly: re-type the number, expiry and CVV straight from the Coinepay app — a single wrong digit will cause a decline.
- Billing address mismatch: make sure the address on file at Amazon matches your Coinepay billing details, especially for rentals and purchases where Amazon requires the registered address to match your marketplace.
- 3-D Secure / verification: if your bank or card issuer requests an extra verification step, complete it. Check the Coinepay app for any confirmation prompt or notification.
- Region checks: Amazon verifies your location. Use your real country and billing details rather than trying to disguise your location.
- Card acceptance: confirm the method you are using is supported in your market. If a decline persists, contact Coinepay support to check your card status and whether it meets Amazon's requirements.
If every saved method is declined at renewal, Amazon says a direct-billed subscription will be cancelled unless you add a new payment method, so act promptly if you want to keep streaming.
Cancellation and refunds
To cancel Prime Video-only, go to Account & Settings → Your Account → End Subscription. To cancel Amazon Prime, use Prime Membership → Edit on Amazon; for a third-party-billed subscription, contact that provider. Amazon's global terms (Last Updated August 26, 2026) provide a full membership-fee refund for cancellation within three business days of joining or converting from a trial, or within 14 days after confirmation in the UK/EU, with deductions possible for service already used. Rentals and purchases can generally be cancelled within 14 days only if watching or downloading has not begun. Amazon Prime memberships and third-party billing have their own separate terms, so review the policy for your subscription and country.
