Fastly is a cloud edge platform for content delivery, compute, security and observability. Its self-service accounts require a card on file, and usage is billed each month rather than through a one-off checkout for most tiers. This guide walks through what you need, how sign-up and billing work, and how to pay with a Coinepay virtual card, with a troubleshooting section for card declines.
Before you start: what you need
Fastly gates sign-up behind a payment card for verification, and it bills you when usage exceeds a free tier rather than charging a fixed price up front. Have these ready:
- A Fastly account and your real identity and business details.
- A valid card with its number, expiry date and CVV, plus the exact billing address on file.
- Enough available balance on the card for the verification check and your first invoice.
If you do not already have a card, create a Coinepay virtual card first. After you register and complete identity verification (KYC), Coinepay issues a virtual card with an instant card number, expiry and CVV that you can use for software and cloud subscriptions. You can manage everything from the 24/7 dashboard or the Coinepay app on iOS and Google Play.
A note on acceptance: Fastly's filings mention credit, debit and prepaid cards among the methods customers use, but an official list of accepted card networks for billing is not publicly confirmed, and whether a specific card is accepted is decided at checkout. Coinepay does not publish which card type or network it issues, so confirm your card details before you rely on them. Contact Coinepay support to check your card meets a requirement before you buy.
Understanding Fastly's plans and pricing
Fastly separates account-level options from product packages. At the time of writing (October 2026), the figures below appeared on Fastly's pricing page; always confirm current numbers on fastly.com/pricing, since prices and regions change.
- Account options: Free, Growth (usage-based) and Enterprise (custom quote).
- Network Services package: Basic $1,500/mo, Starter $6,000/mo, Advantage and Ultimate contact sales.
- Compute package: Starter $500/mo, Advantage and Ultimate contact sales.
- Observability package: Starter $1,500/mo, Advantage and Ultimate contact sales.
- Security package: Security Core, Security Core Plus and Security Total, all by sales quote.
Usage-based pricing applies to many services. For Full Site Delivery, the first 100 GB of bandwidth per month is free; the next band is $0.12/GB in North America and Europe, $0.19/GB in Asia and Australia, $0.16/GB in Mexico, and $0.28/GB in Africa, India and South Korea, with request charges separate. Usage-based Compute includes 10 million requests and 100 million vCPU-milliseconds free per month, then $0.50 per million requests and $0.05 per million vCPU-milliseconds. Prices are published in dollars; separate local-currency checkout prices are not confirmed, and published fees exclude applicable taxes, which you generally pay.
Step 1: Create your Fastly account
Sign up on fastly.com using your real name and business information. Fastly's recent release notes describe credit-card gating at sign-up, so expect to add a card during registration even if you only plan to use a free tier. Exceeding a free-tier limit triggers billing rather than a fixed-price checkout.
Step 2: Add your Coinepay card under Billing
In the Fastly control panel, open Account > Billing > Billing information to add or update your card. Enter the virtual card number, expiry, CVV and the billing address exactly as it appears in your Coinepay app. Access to billing pages depends on your user role, so sign in with an account that has billing permissions.
Step 3: Buy a product or let usage bill automatically
Eligible products can be purchased in Account > Products. Select a product, review its displayed price and first-bill date, then confirm. Some products require a paid account, and larger packages may require contacting Fastly sales rather than self-purchase. As of April 2026, Fastly enabled immediate credit-card self-purchase for Compute, KV Store, Secret Store and Fanout, alongside simplified Compute billing and free tiers.
For a paid month-to-month account, Fastly automatically charges your card when the monthly invoice is generated. Each invoice also offers a one-time credit-card payment link, which is useful if an automatic charge did not go through. Invoice and usage pages live under Account > Billing.
Step 4: Confirm the payment and keep records
After the charge, check your Fastly invoice and your Coinepay transaction history to confirm the amounts match. Keep both for your records, especially if you are expensing cloud costs for a business.
Troubleshooting: common card-declined causes
Insufficient balance
One Fastly community user reported a payment "declined due to insufficient funds" and then had trouble retrying the outstanding invoice. Make sure your Coinepay card holds enough to cover the verification hold plus the full invoice, including taxes, before you retry. Usage-based bills can be larger than you expect, so top up with headroom.
Billing address mismatch
If the address in Fastly's billing information does not match what is registered to your card, the payment can be refused. Copy the billing address from your Coinepay app field by field into Fastly.
3-D Secure and verification
Some card charges trigger an extra authentication step. Keep your Coinepay app handy to approve any confirmation prompt, and make sure your contact details are current so you receive it.
Merchant and region checks
Fastly's published trade policy says business involving Cuba, Iran, Syria, North Korea, Sudan or Crimea requires special approval; a current, exhaustive country-by-country acceptance list is not confirmed. Separately, Deliver packages are not intended for streaming and permit no more than 10% of traffic from the Africa, India or South Korea billing regions \u2014 a package-eligibility limit, not a ban on customers there. Coinepay serves customers globally except in jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions, and virtual-asset-related services are not available to residents of mainland China or in every jurisdiction. If a charge keeps failing with no clear reason, confirm your card details with Coinepay and raise the specific invoice with Fastly billing.
Still stuck?
If the card itself looks fine in Coinepay but Fastly still declines it, contact Fastly billing support about the exact invoice, and reach Coinepay support or our Telegram channel to verify the card is active and has sufficient balance.
Canceling or changing a Fastly purchase
A self-service product purchase can be canceled under Account > Products; access ends immediately, and usage since your last invoice remains chargeable. Contractual obligations may prevent canceling there. An eligible account can be canceled under Account > Company settings > Cancel Account after you deactivate and delete services and address TLS items; outstanding charges through cancellation remain payable. For Service Orders, minimum commitments are non-cancelable during their term and fees are nonrefundable, and nonrenewal generally requires at least one month's notice. A blanket refund for ordinary cancellation is not confirmed, so plan your commitments carefully.
If your online account was created before November 4, 2025, Fastly directs it to separate legacy pricing, so the figures above may not apply to you. Check your own billing pages.
