To subscribe to Elicit, choose a paid plan and enter your Coinepay virtual card details at Elicit’s checkout. This guide covers what to check before paying, how to complete sign-up, and what to do if the payment is declined. Card acceptance depends on Elicit’s checkout and payment checks, so a successful charge cannot be guaranteed.
What you need before you start
- An Elicit account: Start on Elicit’s Sign up page, or sign in if you already use its free Basic plan.
- A Coinepay account with identity verification completed: You must register and complete KYC before using Coinepay card services. You can register with Coinepay if you have not done so.
- Your virtual card details: Coinepay provides a card number, expiry date, and CVV. Find the current details in the Coinepay app or self-service dashboard before checkout.
- Enough available funds: Check the amount Elicit is about to charge, particularly if you select Annual billing. Check your available funds in Coinepay before submitting payment.
- Your real billing details: Use your own name and an accurate billing address. Do not substitute an address from another country to try to pass a merchant check.
Elicit says its payments are in USD. If you need to know how a USD charge will affect your available funds, check the information shown in Coinepay or contact Coinepay support before paying. Do not assume that the monthly figure displayed for an annually billed plan is the amount charged each month.
Choose the right Elicit plan and billing cycle
Elicit’s pricing page has Academic and Industry views, plus a Monthly or Annual billing selector. Choose both settings before comparing prices. Its listed plans are Basic, Plus, Pro, Scale, and Enterprise, although the Industry view does not list Plus. Basic is free; Plus, Pro, and Scale use Elicit’s self-service checkout. Enterprise or institutional invoice billing requires contacting Elicit rather than entering a card through the standard paid-plan checkout.
At the time of writing (October 2026), Elicit’s Academic Annual view lists Plus at $11 per user/month, billed as $132 annually; Pro at $39 per user/month, billed as $468 annually; and Scale at $89 per user/month, billed as $1,068 annually. Its Industry Annual view lists Pro at $49 per user/month, billed as $588 annually, and Scale at $169 per user/month, billed as $2,028 annually. Enterprise is custom-priced. These monthly figures describe annual plans, not monthly-billed checkout amounts. Check Elicit’s official pricing page and the final checkout total for current prices and applicable plan terms. Elicit says nonprofits have no separate discount but may use academic pricing.
If you only want to try Basic, you do not need to enter a card for a paid subscription: during sign-up, select Skip at the bottom of plan selection. You can review paid options later from your account.
How to pay for Elicit with a Coinepay virtual card
- Prepare your card. Open the Coinepay app or dashboard, confirm that your card details are available, and check your available funds against the total you expect to pay. The iOS app and Android app are available if you prefer to manage your account on your phone.
- Open Elicit’s Sign up page. Create an account using your real information, or sign in to your existing account. Follow Elicit’s prompts until you reach plan selection.
- Set the pricing view. Select Academic or Industry, then Monthly or Annual. Choose the available Plus, Pro, or Scale option that fits your needs. Review the charge and billing frequency shown before continuing.
- Enter payment information at checkout. In Elicit’s Stripe-powered checkout, choose the card option if it is offered. Enter the Coinepay card number, expiry date, and CVV, along with your accurate billing details. Follow any additional prompts displayed by checkout.
- Review and submit. Verify the plan, USD total, billing cycle, and billing information. Submit the payment once, then wait for Elicit’s confirmation rather than immediately retrying if the page takes time to update.
- Confirm the subscription. While signed in to Elicit, open Account Settings → Subscription & Billing to check your plan and billing cycle. You can also review your card activity in Coinepay. If a charge appears but Elicit does not show an active plan, contact Elicit about the subscription before attempting another payment.
Elicit lists major credit and debit cards among its payment methods and names several card networks, but that does not establish whether any particular Coinepay card or transaction will be accepted. Elicit’s other listed methods include bank transfer from most US banks, Link, Alipay, Cash App, and Amazon Pay in the US; which options appear can depend on checkout. You do not need to choose one of those methods to attempt a card payment.
If your Elicit card payment is declined
Start with the message shown at checkout and check whether the payment appears in your Coinepay activity. Elicit identifies Stripe as its payment processor, but there is no confirmed Elicit-specific wording for common decline messages. Avoid repeatedly submitting the same unchanged details; work through the likely cause first.
Insufficient available funds
Compare your available funds with the full checkout charge, not just an annual plan’s per-month equivalent. An annual selection is billed annually. If the available amount is too low, resolve the balance issue in Coinepay and retry only after the funds are available. If the figures do not explain the decline, ask Coinepay support to review the attempted transaction.
Billing address or card-detail mismatch
Recheck every digit of the card number, the expiry date, and the CVV. Then compare the name and billing address you entered with your genuine billing information. Correct mistakes in Elicit’s checkout; do not invent an address or choose a different country merely to make the payment go through. If you are unsure which billing details apply to your Coinepay card, contact Coinepay support before retrying.
3-D Secure or another verification prompt
If checkout presents an authentication challenge, complete it using the instructions on the screen and return to Elicit to see whether payment succeeded. If the prompt fails, expires, or never becomes available, check your Coinepay account for relevant notices and contact support with the time and amount of the attempt. Do not assume the subscription started until Elicit shows it as active.
Merchant or regional checks
Elicit describes broad international card acceptance, but that is not a promise that every transaction will pass. A merchant or processor may decline a payment following its own checks. Make sure your account country and billing information accurately reflect your circumstances. If you still cannot pay, ask Elicit whether the plan and payment method are available to you, and ask Coinepay support whether it can identify a card-side decline. Do not use a VPN, borrowed identity, or unrelated address to evade a restriction.
When seeking help, provide the plan, attempted amount, approximate time, and the checkout message, if any. Share only the card details a support team specifically needs through its appropriate secure channel; do not send your full card number or CVV in an ordinary message.
Manage payment details or cancel later
In Elicit, go to Account Settings → Subscription & Billing to view your plan, billing cycle, usage, and plan-change options. Select View on Stripe to open the customer portal for payment details and billing information. If you change your card, check the portal to make sure the payment details for future Elicit charges are current.
For Plus or Pro, Elicit directs users to choose Downgrade to Basic in Subscription & Billing and confirm to cancel the paid plan. For Scale, an admin uses Manage → Subscription & billing → ⋯ → Cancel plan. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle; ordinary cancellation does not refund amounts already paid. If you manage Scale seats, added seats can result in a prorated charge, while removing seats changes the price at the next billing date without a prorated refund for unused seat time. Check the account screen before making a change that affects billing.
